Anyone else see it as a not quite so picturesque Budds Creek?
Maybe the total design itself in way.....a little bit. But the dirt at this new track looks to be sandy some what ( not sure how deep it is ) but if it has a hard base , it will get extremely slick. Kind of like sand on concrete. Budds gets extremely rough , but the dirt is really , really good. A lot of the American tracks have really good dirt , that if prepped right.....they can be a dream to ride on. " Most " of those tracks that are located in any kind of wooded areas have had the advantage of the surround woodlands to help create a great loamy surface. I'll tell ya what.....I've been racing on and off at Washougal since 1983 and back then and all the way up until the later 90's.....the dirt was so awesome it was crazy. But later 90's and most of the 2000's it got really choppy , huge pot holes , hard as concrete.....and if there was any moisture....it was like snot on glass! You could seriously see your reflection on the ground!

Fast forward to now......The huffmans have been dumping top soil , cow poop , saw dust and a little sand on it a lot over these past 4 - 5yrs and the really good dirt is coming back. In just the last 2 - 3yrs it has really come around and the dirt is getting really fun again. But again.....with good dirt , it can get rough as hell , which is fun anyways.

Exactly, if people want to race on a grass turn track then they'd set the damn bikes up like flat track and have shorten the travel to like 4" haha

Did Shane Schaefer go down to build that one special for RV? Smile j/k that track looks awesome and it also looks like it's going to get rough.

I would love to ride that track, looks fun. Now if you want a old school MX track bring back Namur and I would have loved to turn a few laps there as well.

Natural tracks are a thing of the past unfortunately.
And have been for quite some time. Pick out nearly any major feature of your favorite track. Natural? Or man-made?

I think the style of the construction of the track might suit RV2 well, but the racing surface will be a big neutralizing factor. I don't think any of these guys have ever ridden a legit silt track, which this one looks like it could be. There aren't too many motocross tracks built near glacial fields or with glacial silt.

"Too supercrossy" is another built-in excuse for the Euros. They brag how great this series is because it travels the world but the second you have different style tracks then they go ape ahit. Dont call it a world championship then, call it the European style track only championship.

People take issue with Youthstream when they schedule a fly-away GP to Asia, or wherever, and then just build a track that could be constructed anywhere. They all follow a similar blueprint. It doesn't happen all the time, but Qatar and Thailand (this year) are two prime examples of that happening. Luckily there are plenty of other decent tracks on the schedule to make up for them. I happen to think this track in Argentina shows some promise, at least it includes some natural features.

In general the purpose of fly-away GPs is worthwhile and should be continued, but they should be held at established Motocross tracks unique to each country, not just constructed in a way that could just be duplicated wherever they like. Last year the Thai GP was held at a sprawling natural track, which was fine, because it was a motocross track! This year, for whatever reason, they moved it to a new location and built a short, tight and twisty track filled with jumps and rhythm sections... a 1.38 laptime on an outdoor track is stupid.
I agree 100% with your thoughts. The fly aways should be held at a established track and the MX Club that runs the track should be part of the proceeds collected like in most tracks in Europe. The private promoter scheme has not been a pretty situation as of late..

I think this could be a track for Paulin to get his season going.

Remember (15?) years ago, Joel Smets and others complaint about the artificial interventions on the circuits (whoops etc). the GP scene was devided in two camps then. The old skool enthousiasts and the younger fans who want more uh ...whooping(?).

Nothing changed. Grinning

I almost can't wait till Valkenswaard. I think Herlings will outrun all the MXGP guys by 3 sec. a lap on his 250f.

Agreed. I don't understand the flow of the schedule, and what that must cost to pull all of the gear and personnel around the world twice. And as you mentioned, they set up locations at un-established, make it on the fly, tracks.

Some of you are funny I like the different tracks because at the end it means that much more for the champion because they took on all different tracks and surfaces and they where the best man obviously if you had 17 rounds at lommel you could save the money and hand JH an TC the trophy before the season started
