Wow, so I just read that 2 Riders ran in to a water truck that was off of the first double, one of them passed away from his injuries. Seems insane to keep a truck that close to the track, especially when amateurs are riding.

It is extremely sad for the family, and I feel worse thinking that it could have been avoided by not leaving a water truck so close to the track, especially off of a double.

Always cringe when I see a thread like "I think a kid died at *certain mx track* today, but that's all the info I know"

Poor form. Condolences to the family, I hope all concerned learned about it a bit more appropriately then a vague thread on a forum.

Unfortunately more is out there, 2 riders hit a water truck parked off of the first large double on the track, one died from the injuries.

I've ridden there for a long time. Knew the owner fairly well also. Id definitely learn more of what actually happened before criticizing where and why the water truck was where it was. Hindsight is always 20/20 and in this sport freak/random stuff happens in the blink of an eye and sometimes there isn't a reasonable finger to point.

Sorry but it was just a matter if time. Stuff like no flaggers & mixing minis and big bikes just to save a buck? This whe thing just pisses me off. From what i am hearing no one in this thread is jumping to conclusions. Quite the opposite...

Like the Chev pickup that was displayed at Atlanta last week you mean. Crazy Blink .

My deepest sympathy to the family. But, to be honest, when I hear of things like this I think ,at least he died doing something he obviously loved and didn't die of cancer like too many other kids do.
No consolation to the family obviously, but it helps me deal with it.

The fact it could have been avoided and should have been would have to be hard though.

You going to pass a hat around Jeffro?

A couple details:

The track was closed for watering and had been cleared.

Tim is the water truck driver. He's ok. I think he's really emotionally shaken. He took a bike to the face, glass in the face and eyes, and I think whiplash. Tim needs support although he won't admit it.

Rider one, who's name I don't know, was awake and cognitive. I think he broke his leg and probably some other injuries... I wish hime a speedy recovery.

Rider 2 passed away. He hit the truck head on. When I got to him he was unresponsive... I didn't know what to do.

I didn't see the two riders enter, but I was standing right by the jump when the accident happened. It was horrible. I still can't believe it happened.

Prayers to Dan, Tim, the two riders, and their families. This was a sad day.

Whatever it was. Think it was Red and it was a pick up truck. Was displayed on the outside of a reasonably fast corner.

Shit happens.

"Prevention is better than cure".

Didn't mean to take the thread off topic. Sorry.

Man, what a horrible accident. Regardless of how it happened, I hope you and all involved can find a way to move forward, and thoughts and prayers go out to the rider and his family.

Really sucks to hear this, a friend of mine from up there told me what happened and it is one of those things I've been through where u get on a track n don't know theres equipment on n it can be devastating. I've had that moment even watching my brother where he's gotten lucky to realize something was on the track before he came up on it but unfortunately from what I hear this was an accident that turned out differently.

How about now? Jumping to conclusions? Track was closed for watering. Young guys weren't supposed to be on the track. The tracks owner is known as being a good guy and had told everyone to think "safety first" today. Maybe if you get your way the track will be forced to close.
