Congrats man. You had a goal in you achieve it. But on a sidenote, it looks like you were hesitant when approaching logs, I don't want to sound like a bench rider but how is your suspension set up? Is it on the softer side? Funny enough though when guys were trying to pass you on the matrix, they were getting racked hahaha but it definitely takes balls to charge through that like they were. But besides all that you still made it to the main event and had fun and that's what matters right? Even if you got last, which you didn't, you still beat a bunch of guys to make it there.

Dude! Good for you, man! God how did you make through those logs every lap?! That was just plain gnarly. That serves that #2 right for jumping in front of you like that. I commend you, that was tough, but you handled it awesomely!

Right on dude! You were battling in the thick of it. Having just fractured a tib/fib those tires in the middle of that section would've scared me....catch a toe on one of those and you're done. I noticed they got rid of those for the main and added a little water elsewhere. Moto is more my cup of tea but great ride and thanks for sharing!

Who was in your crew at Endurocross?
Crew consisted of mom, dad, and grandparents for the qualifiers! After I made it in, a few of my friends showed up for moral support.Smile We all had an awesome time and the show was great to watch!

I hear ya on the hesitance, but there was a bit of method to the madness. All day it seemed like if you could make it through the log section consistently, you would finish in a good spot. When I went into the race I told myself to just make it through that section smooth each lap, even if that meant taking a slower approach. I'm glad I stuck to the plan because pretty much everyone who went balls out into it ate crap!Shocked I don't have anywhere to practice this type of riding, so I'm definately not too experienced with stuff like that. I'm honestly still not sure how suspension should be set up for this, but mine is pretty stiff and I was still using most of the travel slamming into stuff. The skid plate did no fare to well, it won't even fit on the bike anymore.

That wasn't by any means supposed to be taking this criticism. I think you did awesome. But next time I would suggest making your suspension a little less stiff and it will help absorb stuff like the rocks in the logs and you won't get bucked up at the end of the logs like that. And I wasn't referring to the blog section I was just talking about the single logs. I would not suggest anyone charging into the logs haha.

JM, great post and great job. I would still be stuck in the first turn of the LCQ. That is some gnarly stuff.

This, kind of, reminds me of the old ArenaCross days. They would let us rank amateurs race on pro nights. Rider meeting, qualifiers, lcq, then the night show. I was in the 250C (450) class. I didn't deserve to be racing in front of 8000 people, but on the nights I got lucky and did well....... its something I'll never forget.

Thanks for the replies guys, glad you enjoyed the post.

Hillbilly, the entry fees aren't too bad. $100 for the class, and then we bought a mechanics pass and pit pass for $25 each. When you factor in that you get free camping and seating for the event, it comes out to be a pretty good deal.

Guess I am not the only one whose favourite threads are people's personal recounts about events! Awesome job dude! You look like a pretty young fella like me, good to see someone like you sticking it to a few of the more seasoned guys, haha! All jokes aside looked like an awesome experience and I hope one day I experience that same feeling of riding under the lights of a stadium packed full of fans.

Wow, I honestly didn't think I would get many views and replies in the wake of PEDgate, Contractgate, and Transgate.Laughing Thanks for all who replied, I'm hoping to race more of these over the summer at Prairie City (the park that hosts the Hangtown national), so if anyone has any info on those races please let me know. First post and I'm bumping a very old thread, my apologies. I've been browsing VitalMX for a while and decided to join, this is the only forum post I've been able to find regarding OpenAM for Endurocross.

Are their any VitalMX members who still activly participate? I've been able to find very little information on OpenAm class for Endurocross.

to the OP, what you raced how many riders were you battling against for 1 of those 12 spots?
