I was thinking the same thing but apparently he lost his rear brake in the second moto so that might explain it

RV wins every moto from here on out by 30 seconds. Tmrw he has such a big gap he has time to pit and does his taxes and then hops back on the track and rides to victory.

Jk honesty I'll go 1. Cairoli 2. Nagl 3. Paulin 4. Villopoto

Thailand dirt is a red clay slush with hardpack underneath. Think Qatar, just slightly stickier and stains your clothes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q8TFVSsxDU

Different track this year, I went to see it at the weekend. Didn't look good. It's being built on a flat area inside a road bike track at Nakhonchaisri (last year was a really nice track in Chonburi). What what they've built so far it looked more like a supercross track (from what I could see - couldn't get too close). Hopefully be better by the weekend.

I don't think it will be an improvement, last year's track was built on an area with some nice natural elevation changes. Good for spectators as well as there were a couple of hills to sit on where you could see most of the track. This year seems to be a completely man made track on a flat area of ground in the middle of nowhere.

Hope I'm wrong though as I'm going on Sunday...

The previous Thai track had nothing to do with Losail , other than light colored ground - it might behoove a few to just have a good look at the link to a short video of it put up here. A reasonable amount of elevation change, and a totally different track. I just think blokes don't see a rotavated. tilled track with dark soil, and endless track banners, therefore, it's "all the same" to them.

The "new track", from the little of what I've seen of it, looks rather uninspiring. Well, shithouse to put it mildly. Add that to what FARANG has put forward of his impressions of it (thanks, Farang), briefly, and it looks to be a seriously backwards step.

It's the same for all the riders, and none of them have been to that track.

Thailand is a massive market (well, the whole of South East Asia is) and is a massive producer, of motorcycles - as are a few other countries in S.E.A. That's why it's on the schedule, why they've got enough (supposedly) to pay Luongos exorbitant fees, And, fair enough.big MX (and SX and 'other' types of) races, sell a "brand", far more than MX / Dirt bikes.

Look to the figures in the ' KTM's Weekend' thread - 482 + K bikes sold in the US in 2014 - about 116K of them being dual sports and Offroad. Our sport is pretty bloody small in terms of units sold. Cripes, Australia's 2014 sales were about 122K of bikes and ATVs - 92k being bikes with Scooters and ATVs taken out - so we probably have just over 100K in 2 wheelers sold. With about a 14th / 15th of the US's population. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Last I saw, Brazil had sales (and production) of about 1.6 milion bikes, and even Argentina , with a 'collapse' of sales, was at about 390K in sales. We in the "West", could become very unimportant to producers, very soon ........

What I've seen of Argentina, looks bloody good. Hope everyone gets through Thailand in one piece.

Not a lot of guys chiming in on this one!! Wink A lot of tails between the legs??

I do know that RV better have a better showing than last week, because if he doesn't, he is gonna lose touch with the points leaders - no one is gonna wait for the American hero!
Go watch Hockey & shit out some Tim Horton's!

Weather prediction Bangkok, rain tomorrow and clear sky with occasional clouds until next week. lows 79 degrees, highs 94-98 degrees. low wind and a 60-78% humidity. chance of rain 10% all weekend.
Oh well, scratch that scenario. That kind of heat and humidity will be a factor, probably not enough to be a game changer though.

Let's just hope the heat and humidity don't effect RV's electronics or rear brake or his suspension setting as his team is testing in European weather this week instead of being on location ahead of time like most of the other teams.
Isnt RV use to heat and humidity?

I'd say:
1 Paulin, 2 RV, 3 Cairoli

MX2
1 Herlings, 2 Gajser, 3 Ferrandis
3/2/2015 12:51am
Humm, I think Tony will win and Ryan will be on the podium, or at least top 5. Not saying he can't win either, but regardless he'll be better. Obviously in MX2 it's difficult to bet against Jeffrey even when well below 100%, though on the right day I think someone may be able to disrupt him in his current condition. After Jeffrey it's as difficult to guess as MX1, with so many riders all capable on their day.

For a bit of fun...

450

1. Cairoli
2. Desalle
3. Villopoto
4. Paulin
5. Nagl

250

1. Herlings
2. Tonkov
3. Ferrandis
4. Tixier
5. Gajser

This is what I hate most about these threads. Sorry to pick on you, because just as many 'Muricans do the same thing.

This year is the first time I bought a sub for the entire MXGP season, and yeah.. RV2 had something to do with that. But the more I watch MXGP the more I like.. the announcer, the tracks, the camera work, everything about what is shown to me as a consumer is (IMHO) a tighter, less sugary package than we we have here in the states. It makes me long for hearing David Bailey in the announce booth, to be honest.

I don't get the nationalism here and god knows it exists on mxlarge and other European sites. People like dirtnapper are doing their best to ruin what is otherwise a cool and exciting series for me. I watch because of the motocross racing, not to see how superior USA is or Poland or Italy, ect. I frankly don't care.

I'm gonna keep watching this season and yeah I will pull for RV2 he is obviously an underdog and probably wasn't prepared for the level of intensity now found in Europe. The tide has changed.. I don't think we here in the States have accepted that yet.

Cheers to more good racing whether RV2 finishes first or last next weekend.
I think it would be impossible for me to agree with this any more!
I don't even really care who wins, I just love the fact RV is over there which shows you guys that didn't know already how good the GP's can be.. not better not worse, just different and cool!
haha 'less sugary' I kinda feel like the AMA coverage is more aimed at new viewers where the GP's are aimed at fans IMO

The conditions in Thailand should suit RV a bit better. But he doesn't quite look ready at the minute. I'm going to go for:

1. Cairoli
2. Desalle
3. Paulin
4. Nagl
5. Villopoto

1. Herlings
2. Ferrandis
3. Tixier
3/2/2015 4:22am
Paulin
Desalle- AC
Nagl

no villo on podium just yet, although its very tempting to predict after seeing the track pictures (making me feel sick)

But if the new Thai track is as bad as they say, then I can't see RV getting on the podium just yet as training in Belgium this week isn't going to help much. He'd have been better off going straight to the hotel in Thailand, and practicing round their car park.. Also you can expect a few top names to get hit with food poisoning, so that could shake up the order. And what's happening on the fuel issues this year? Again a big unknown, atleast to me..

I spent about 4 months backpacking in Thailand and didn't get ill with food poisoning once. It's either really bad luck or if anything the result of being tempted by Western style food that seems more familiar, but often of poor quality.

Also nice to see is that in the current standings in aswell MXGP as MX2 we've got 5 different brands in the top 5. Soon we'll have a Kawi in top 5 in MXGP I guess.
3/2/2015 5:18am
Why did the stop calling the 450 class "MX1"? Also I thought I heard the announcers say that Livia (or one of the other women) rode a two stroke last year. Are the rules about 2 & 4 strokes the same as what the pros have in the states?
