Are they using it? I've heard they are & are not. Question is, is it only for one model? If they are using it, does it apply to the 250 & 450, or just one?

Uhhhh no. Every Mfg. has a one year exemption. Since that rule was made Husky hasn't competed so they still have their exemption for any bike they choose to race. They could use it next year as well if they wanted. If I were to guess we'll probably see it come into play a few years down the line as they try to differentiate themselves from KTM.

I think Anderson's bike is using it this year, so he can get the benefits of the KTM 450FE. Don't think Husky has a FE model, so the works exemption would allow him to use it. But, wondering if it only applies to one model. Davalos, Bell, etc. are getting the shaft if they can't get the KTM 250FE.

I'm pretty sure he's not. You can tell by looking at the frame that Dunge and Anderson's bikes are different.

I heard they are going to use their one year works exemption to run a proto type turbocharged engine.

Every year AMA publishes their homologated bike list, along with any "exemptions". this isn't a mystery.

Homologated list = easy to find. Exemption list, not so much.

Husky has been hiring i'd guess, poaching from the main Japanese engineers and bringing in European designers. expect a radical new Husqvarna in 2018. the Euro brands are doing something! the others, aside from Honda and Yamaha which do some, are leading the way and they'll start selling the most dirt bikes when it's all over.

I am not sure what Husky have planned but until now there have been a few innovations from the others.

Suzuki was first with Fuel injection.
Kawasaki with twin injectors on the 250F, Adjustable foot pegs on the 450.
Aluminium frames,SFF forks and various different air forks on all the Japanese brands.
Changeable engine mapping on all brands.
steering damper & twin exhaust on the Hondas.
Yamaha has completely changed up their design.

Whether these are all successful or not, I would say all the brands are doing something, maybe not everyone notices

You only know of two? Should be very easy for you, because: "Every year AMA publishes their homologated bike list, along with any "exemptions". this isn't a mystery."

aluminum perimeter frames and single function forks are cost cutting measures and only innovative in dropping their bottom line, not performance. EFI could also be lumped into this category as the technology has existed for 35 years. Yamaha is the only one truly pushing any sort of innovative envelope.

That's the difference between Europe and Japan at the moment in 2015, and for the last 7-8 years. Europe's innovations are centered around what Japan's production philosophy was in the 60s/70s (limited production, provide the best product possible)

Japan's innovations at the present moment seem to be centered around cost-savings and weathering the storm of a shitty global economy.

I wish all you old faithfuls would get off the Japanese bandwagon and see that they've become parasitic in nature and have done more to hurt this sport as a whole than help it, in the last 15 years.

Loud OEM and aftermarket exhuast have done their fair share to hurt the sport. Reviews of bikes should exclude any bike over 94db. Of course the cops look the other way when a child abuser 106db harley goes blowing up a city street. I guess the cops think damaging kids hearing is cool.

As far as I know Kawasaki and Suzuki haven't used theirs yet.

Loud pipes save lives. Any street bike I ever own will be as loud as I can get it, as well as have as bright of lights as I can get. I'm going to give drivers every possible opportunity to know that I am there as I can. Your annoyance isn't as important as my life.

I guess you ride solo then? We had a few guys with stupid loud bikes riding with us, and we send their dumbasses to the back of the line.
