Anyone own one or ridden one? I fell in love first ride. I'll be picking up my new 2015 300RR on Saturday. This will soon be a "spoke with my wallet", thread. Anyone have any tips or advice on these bikes?

I've ridden the 250 2t and 390 4t. Ergos are really comfortable. 250 was lacking just a bit in comparison to my dad's 250 EXC.

Beta is all over the place here in the Europe Offroad-Scene.

REALY fun Bike to ride, espacially for the Slow Trial stuff.
The 300 is way more spread here, haven't seen the 250 in a while.
So i'd guess you've made a very good decision.

Although the Sachs Forks seem to buttom out very fast at jumps,
but you can read stuff like about the Marzochi too, so you'll have figure that out on your own.

Keep us updated
And have some fun

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the XTrainer. As a 50+, 5'8", 150 lb rider with a bum shoulder, it appears custom made for the geriatric who still thinks he has something in the tank. Which is me.

I had a bad experience with one. It was a 525 and I loved it the first ride, if felt to me like a little billy goat. It comfortably went anywhere with ease. On the second ride (summer day) I got about 20 miles into nowhere on single track (Ortega trail Ojai Ca.), the bike started getting hot and the hydraulic clutch disappeared on me. It was a slow rocky trail and a clutch was something you needed to use… Luckily I turned it around and made it back up the trail to the road, when I hit 50mph on the highway magically the clutch was there. To me it was a real let down, I had a capable machine that I felt could go anywhere confidently, yet couldn't go where the road met the trail. Bummed. Maybe the 2 stroke will be better and not run so hot.

I've never ridden a Beta...but they are all over in my local desert series (and they have a pro team racing the National Hare and Hounds...Pervines Beta), as there is a couple local shops that sell them now.

Mice bike, congrats!

Beta manufacturers a lot of engines for KTM, not just minis. Other parts too.

I rode for the Purvines team in 2013-2014. The bottom end on the bikes is great! It's worth the upgrade to the marzochi/fox suspension if it fits your budget! If not the Sachs works good too! (I think the Sachs suspension has changed and is better now too)

I've heard all over reviews on the Sachs stuff. For now, they fit the budget and most say the shock actually works pretty well. At 155lbs I'm thinking I can make the suspension handle pretty well for what I need. I've read of a few shops in the NW that are good with Sachs stuff so when the time comes, I'll get in touch with one of them.

We never had any issues with handling with the Sachs, one of the heavier/faster riders on the team ran into issues with parts breaking inside the suspension but that's with a pro rider slamming through stuff in the desert haha and they've updated the Sachs since then so they might not even have the issue anymore!
I actually thought the Sachs was more plush than the marzochi forks but the marzochi seemed to not blow through the stroke as easily.

What are your thoughts on the 300 for desert racing/riding? I'll be spending a good amount of time here in Oregon and Nevada in the desert and am hoping for this to be a true "do all" bike.

I'm personally not a fan of any two strokes, probably due to not ever owning a big bike two stroke and never taking the time to learn the little tricks you need to know to ride them to their potential.

I raced the 250 in the 12 and 24 hour of Glen Helen and I thought it handled well, I just don't like how two strokes slide more instead of tracking like a four stroke! The
beta two strokes seem to lug better than the other brands, probably due to their trials background, which was nice!
Everyone I've talked to loves the 300!

I enjoyed riding the 250 and play riding on it, I just like the power of the 4 strokes better for racing. I think you will be really happy with it if you like the two stroke feel!

Hope that helps! And don't let my biased opinion hold you back from getting one!

I appreciate the honest feedback. I can agree, I love the way my 450 seems to eat up the fast stuff so easily. On the other side, I am a 2 stroke guy at heart and also spend a lot of time in the tight woods and endurocross type stuff. This is what brought me to a 300, and ultimately a Beta. There is already a sea of orange out there and I personally see the Beta as more bike for the money.

You have chosen the best 2 stroke on the market.

2015 is the year to stop bagging on the Sachs forks. I sprung for my weight and bled a few oz. of oil and they rock on chop, whoops and jumps. Never a hint of headshake and plenty of gearbox for the desert. I run the sag at 98mm and the forks on the 3rd line. Toss the gas line check valve. Modified my kill switch to get rid of the on-off clicker. Took out the lock nut to get the brake pedal comfortable. Michelin's at 9 psi.work great.

That's it. Be sure to bonk the horn at spectators!

I had that happen on my husky 310, we put a magura on it instead of a brembo that it came stock with (better feel). Turns out we were boiling the fluid and it was causing the fluid to give out but when I would get going fast it would come back, building pressure or something. We rebuilt the entire system, changed the fluid and it fixed it for about a ride. The Husky X-lite 250/310 motor, like the 525, ran really hot. We put ATF fluid in and it fixed the problem, the ATF fluid is thicker and has a higher boiling point the the magura fluid.

Yeah I know they do most of the Beta riders suspension for enduro x and such. I was a little washy between this and a KTM 300. Anybody have any input on this? I do not want to regret my decision with going with a rare bike and struggling for parts or online advice.
