One of my favorite bands' lead singer posted this to his Facebook page about his nephew winning his first motocross race this past weekend and it was too funny to pass up, since people started making all kinds of hilarious comments about what was going through the kid's head. I literally laughed for like a half hour when I first saw this, but then I started thinking: I haven't been this excited for a trophy since probably damn near the first one I ever got (which I still have). I wish I still felt this way when I get a trophy (even though it's a pretty rare occurrence anymore). You guys remember how this felt??

That's Awesome!!! I don't have a pic, but i remember when I got my first trophy (3rd place),...I didn't even know how to carry it back to the truck, so I held it with both hands awkwardly, afraid to drop it, LOL!

I remember my first trophy I got racing at Dade City MX, I got 3rd place and was very happy, what a great feeling. Now I am 52 and no longer race, I have quite a few trophy's, injury's and surgery's from racing. It is amazing the risks I would take for a $10.00 trophy. I am now disabled, can barely walk, in pain everyday from my racing injuries (knee, back, wrists, ankles, ribs, and shoulders), lots of scars and on a lot of medicine's. But I still have all of my trophy's on display from racing at Dade City MX. I loved to race and miss racing very much. I would race again if I could go back in time. Now I am still a huge fan of Supercross and Motocross racing.

Hell yeah, that's what it's all about right there. I'm sorry to hear that you can't ride/race anymore, but you've got a lifetime of memories that most people will never have the pleasure of having. I know any of us would do it all over again too if we got the chance.

I remember my first trophy and still have it somewhere. My first win was later that year, Oct 6, 1985. 80cc Beginner at Barona Oaks Raceway. I'll never forget that one.

Summer of '83, my first race was in the spring on the kx60 and within a few months I was at the front of the pack and the Vohlands convinced my dad I should be riding an 80 also. Dad picked up an rm80 because it was the smallest 80 at the time and I could barley touch the ground on it. As soon as I started to ride the 80 I got much faster.

The truck was a mid '70's F100 Ranger. It must have been the predecessor to the F150 because it looks the same, but I remember the F100 logo on the side.

I couldn't tell if that was a 125 and 80, or 80 and 60. The black seat would have been a give away on the bike year though. Good times!

I got my fitness in check and started riding more frequently and started reeling off win after win in the Vet B class in the Florida Trail Rider Hare Scramble series a few years ago. Won like the last 6-7 races in a row and the was series champ in my class. I collected every damn one of those trophies as I knew once in A class shit was gonna get real. I obviously got promoted to A class the next season. Well it was an eye opener. Super fast dudes, some of them legit AMA Pro card holders in their youth. I accepted the fact that 5th place would be my ceiling but somehow this season my speed and endurance has increased and I pulled down a podium a few weeks ago.

I grabbed that 3rd place trophy like I just won a GNCC. Not sure I'll be there again or ever score a better finish. Quite damn proud of my 41yr old self. Haters can suck it.

Lots of good stories here. It took a lot of hard work to earn my first moto trophy. I still cherish earning a trophy paying position even into my early 30's.

At the end of a job interview a few years back, I was asked the question "How competitive are you?"
I immediately responded "I'd crash my mom for a plastic trophy"
