1990 YZ490 with the 92 WR500 front end. A little attention to the motor and rear shock as well as a cleaner looking color scheme. Finally broke in and ready for next years events here in the Northwest. Great bike and handle terrible with gobs of mid range!

you used the 490 master cylinder instead of the 500 MC ?

To me as a woods and play rider, A newer yz490 would be the perfect bike if it had a good set of usd forks, a rear disc, and headwork/balanced crank. They are as rare as Bigfoot around here though.

VMX has digital copys you can buy online as opposed to buying back issues and paying an arm and a leg for shipping from OZ.......so i bought a digital copy that has the article about that 83 yz490 ....they raved about the Pro-form pipe that was custom made for that bike........how it almost cured all the motor ills that 490s are known for......interesting read

Yes it is and still virtually no time on it as other project mainly vintage stuff (74 RN250 & 74 Noguchi 125) has kept me tied up. Where are you located?

im building this wr for dilla rewind i have lots of bikes i dont need, ill prolly let it go after i realize how crappy it is, ill post up a pik of it finished in a couple weeks just took it apart this past sunday
