SCRAMBLECROSS
Fort Worth, TX - February 9, 2015 - Mike Kidd Sports Agency, LLC is proud to announce the creation of Scramblecross, a unique concept taking motocross back to the basic as originally introduced as a sport utilizing natural terrain without the addition of triple jumps or large man-made berms.
Mike Kidd, creator of the AMA National Arenacross Series says, "Arenacross was created to fit the gap between outdoor motocross and Supercross. I feel Scramblecross will the fill the gap between today's high speed technical motocross tracks and cross country."
Kidd added, "Scramblecross will fit the need of riders wanting to experience racing at a much slower pace along with the weekend warrior that doesn't have the time or money to spend wanting to be the next superstar."
A variety of classes are offered from beginner to expert, with awards given to the top 5 in each class and purse money for experts.
The inaugural year will feature 10 events at two locations near the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex; Askey Ranch in Decatur and the Poolville Ranch in Poolville.

I did a TORCS race (scramble) Sunday and it sucked, never hit 3rd gear sandy, rutted sketchy stuff. I ran up front for the 1st 1/2 hour but it was no fun. 1st gear short start. I was just wishing there was something like this and BAM!
57 years old the week of the 1st race and looking for some FUN!

I remember when tracks started putting in whoop sections and double jumps,I loved it because I was young and it was the
cool thing,but now that I am old slow and my body is trashed,Scramblecross sounds great.

Since the announcement of Scramblecross earlier this week the motorcycle industry appears to be both supportive and curious. To date there has been no resistance to the idea of "taking motocross back to the basics" which is our theme.
Although my Professional Career was racing flat track, I actually competed in motocross as an amateur and even a few AMA Trans-Am events back in the early 70's. I wasn't very fast at MX, however if the first turn was a fast left hand sweeper like Lake Whitney, I may just get the "holeshot" then quickly fade.
I tell this story to let you know Scramblecross is nothing more than "old" school motocross, back when you would very seldom see equipment to build or maintain a race track. Tracks were built with tractors through gullies, ditches, hills, whatever could be found to race through or around...yes even across a creek or two.
Tracks were fun for everyone, the fast guys still won, but it also didn't take suspension work or engine modifications to at least be competitive. Best part, training was optional!!
Scramblecross tracks will be much slower than today's high speed technical tracks, with no triple jumps, no huge man made berms, not a single load of dirt from a dump truck. Tracks will be designed around natural terrain.
The first Scramblecross coming up on February 22nd in Decatur, TX is just 30 miles north of where we created the AMA National Arenacross Series at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth 30 years ago.

A hare scramble at washougal this summer hada natural terrain grass track portion out where spectator parking is for the national. It was the best part of the course.
