I CAN NOT say it sucks without them being there! BUT.......it's always better if we have more riders. RV is off doing his own thing in the GP's.....which is cool as hell. James....if he was out there , then yeah......it could be better! Always nice having an extra dude in the mix.

But I have to say.....anyone who thinks this past weekends race was boring......What race were you watching? haha! That was awesome! The TX race was awesome as well!

And who in the heck said " Having multiple race winners isn't always good for the sport "......?? What? Blink Blink Dizzy Dizzy

How could that be?

The racing at Oakland was very exciting great races. Personally I feel the racing would be even better with RV and James lining up. Kind of a bummer to see RV retire but I don't blame him.
The past five SX seasons have all had 5 different winners each 2010, 2011,2012, 2013 and 2014.
RV retired? I bet he'd disagree while he's training his balls off getting ready for one of the toughest challenges in his career.

He retired from Supercross.
They've said it at the races, gave him a ring etc.

Yea I knew what he was saying, I just think the whole "he retired" thing that the SX promoters put out there is hokey.

They said he's retired from Supercross and will be racing in Europe.
What exactly did they get wrong?

FELD will do fine at the back to back races in Atlanta, but the other races you will see less people. Why? Because James and RV sell tickets.
RacerX has reported that without James, FELD sees a drop in ticket sales. I had no reason to doubt that back then, and even less reason to doubt it now.

Anyone who thinks racing is better without the top guys needs to put down the bong.
I concur.

Here is a fact that might surprise a few.

2014 - 14 of the 17 SX race winners from last year have:

1. Quit the SX series to race MX1, - RV2 7 wins
2. Been suspended for a paperwork error, - JBS 5 wins
3. Blacked flagged off the track this year. - CR22 2 wins

Not having former Champs with a ton of race wins on the track does put a damper on the season.

Anyone that infers as much as you do out of thin air might want to take a reading comprehension class. Where in this thread has anyone said the racing is better without the top guys? I said it doesn't suck like the fanboys were predicting and/or claiming.

It is fine you have a different opinion but don't twist things around please.

I don't think any "fanboys" said it would suck, but more insinuated that they were not as interested in the series with them being gone. It shows in the ticket sales.

How many more identical threads about rider protection and racing not "sucking" do you need to make?

He is retired from Supercross and you think it is hokey to say he is retired when discussing the supercross series, alrighty.
I think it would have been pretty fucking spectacular if he would have went for 5 consecutive SX titles.

James always brings the X Factor of doing sick obstacles, but he's not a title threat anymore. But any given night, he can bring it like hardly anyone else, which makes things better with him in it. As for RV, I think this year ET3 and KR94 plus Dungey and TC41 would give RV a very good run for the title. RV would have been just one more heavy hitter to make the title run that more interesting. ET in Phoenix was on a different level than anyone else that race. KR has been on a different level at times. TC had by far the best racing lines last weekend. IMO, it's great racing now but would have been even better with RV and JS still in it.
i dont see how you can say Stewart isn't...or wouldn't be a title threat. The guy has made every rider in the current "fab five" look like rookies more time than once.

Ah there it is. What you interpret as insinuating is actually you projecting your thoughts on others instead of taking what others wrote at face value.

I wasn't aware you had joined Vital MX as a mod but based on how many Stewart threads there were I think I still have a ways to go.

It would have been spectacular for sure but if you were RV would you want to repeat another season of doing what had really become work (and not much fun apparently) while battling a bunch of young lions or take an opportunity to see the world on someone else's dime and racing 18 or 19 times with your buddy Tyla Rattray.

As a fan of the Trans Ams and coming from the school of the early 70s were the Euros were the gods of MX it doesn't get any cooler than what RV signed up for in my book.

Not having JS7 sucks, he always brings excitement. But the sport is bigger than any one rider, even my man JS7.

Can't hold it against him for retiring, it's his life to live and i hope he has a great one, still though would have enjoyed seeing how far he could take that streak.
I am 47 years old and while I do not hold the mxgps in such high regard as you do, I will be watching with a bit more interest now. But, Qatar? really.... smdh

x2. I'm a massive Stewart fan, still have a bunch of his pics up in my cube. Have a couple hats, a jersey, I even have one of the 6th scale toy RMZ450's with his stickers on it. I saved the VIP pit passes he gave me.

That being said, I'm a fan of the sport too, 20 of my friends and I will be at the Detroit round this year somewhere in the lower bowl. I wish he was racing, but I'm still going for the show.

The more fast guys the better! I wish Peick, Brayton, Hahn and Wilson were still out there, but the racing has been great, and would watch if it was just privateers Smile
1/26/2015 3:18pm
I have to say, when the 7 is on the track, that's good times. But then when the 7 is roll'n, it doesn't get any better.

RV? RV is just too much for the field. Either way, I would rather have them there. In RV's case, however, I'll be watching the GP's because of him so I guess I am happy he's not in SX because now I get to see the GP's and pull for someone.

I gotta admit, I may be slightly more excited to watch the 250s than the 450s. The 450 guys have been around a while, they know on any given night if they got what it takes to win or not. If they're a tick off that night, they'll do the best they can and move onto next week. 250s however, you have Bowers who is an aggressive arenacross rider accustomed to winning, and Webb is young and full of piss and vinegar. Then you throw in guys like Hill, Nelson and Stewart. It's the same old rodeo for the 450 guys, but the 250 class has some new guys who feel the need to "prove themselves" and that creates an interesting dynamic.
Bro, I was preaching your message during the outdoors last summer, the young guns are so awesome to watch. Those crazy mofos will go ballistic to get a win, whereas in the 450s it's more strategic riding and they'll back off and plan ahead, take a podium and move on, etc. Good bench racing but makes the races less exciting. The Phoenix 450 main was friggin sick though and they'll be some more like it. In any case I'm still basking in the 2011-Present glory after a childhood of watching RC and JS clean up week after week, year after year.....

Ya because watching Roczen, Reed, Canard, and Dungey battle it out is the exact same as watching local guys race. That's some great logic right there.

Its so boring without them.
You got that right jamma..

People have a morbid sense of curiosity/excitement when it's comes to JS, it's like rubber neckers watching an accident on the side of the road.

YOUR RIGHT, 2 of the fastest riders in the world are out & it does suck, Kenny ain't even old enough to buy a beer yet. looks like a
one man show down the road. Dungey out there riding around waiting for someone to have bad luck, Tomac can't even catch Reed. #41 is fast but for how long till he breaks something. Hopefully RV2 stays healthy over there.

It would be better with them in my opinion. How would the racing be worse with two of the greatest ever lining up each week? Shit, by that logic just remove Kenny, Dungey, and Eli and see how many different people got wins. Its a dumb way to think. Who doesn't want to see if the young guns can take the torch rather than just pick it up off the ground?
