I don't think I meant to infer exactly that, but he sure seemed supportive of the black flag and suspension of Chisholm for an incident that didn't put Reed on the ground......

At the very least you'd have thought that he would have been out stumping for that rider's union after the way Chisholm was treated, wouldn't you?

A lapped rider who didn't knock anyone down, and a rider who obviously (and admittedly) wasn't racing forward as his main intent but rather was simply intending to make contact with another racer.

You're almost right, they are a little different. One is definitely blatant, intentional, and resulted in the crashing of another competitor........

How much potential money did he lose though for being disqualified? Maybe he IS trying to get a union together? Let's wait and see where this goes. Most of the immediate reactions here are hilarious.

Admittedly I don't think there's a chance in hell it will happen (at least not in the next 5 years)... just think all of the assumptions being made in this thread are rather funny. Poor speculation at best given that we are going off of one sentence with 6 words in it.

He has admitted it was wrong, and yes he said he'd do it again. Why? Because it was heat of the moment. I find it funny how the haters take it lightly that Reed was landed on... of course he was going to retaliate. Many riders may have done a lot worse.

Trey admitted it was a stupid mistake as well and understands why Reed did what he did. It is squashed between them. TREY THINKS THE BLACK FLAG WAS BS TOO.

Seriously, so all the people who think Chad has no right to appeal a decision he thinks is wrong, also think James Stewart should also just take his punishment on the chin and not appeal it.

I bet James has his lawyers on the case and rightfully so.

Guess RC should have just let it slide when he got the fuel penalty.

Guess Kdub should have just lead the points slide after being penalised for taking out DV.

Chad live every rider before him who has been penalised has ever right to appeal the decision.

yes they all should appeal, because the big bad AMA/FIM are nasty people and these poor little mx racers should not have to obey any rules,

You would have to say it is about unanimous that the black flag was wrong.

Everybody whose opinion matters (apart from one person - who hopefully Reed can rid form the sport) says the black flag was the biggest mistake of all of them. Even the person it happened to! Ponder that for a second, then consider who was right and wrong between Reed and Gallagher.

Shit like this is why I cannot stand Chad.

There is one absolute guaranteed way Reed avoids the black flag and that is by not choosing to intentionally get into Canard in retaliation for Canard's bonehead but unintentional move.

Did Reed intend to run Canard all the way off the track? I think so but I am not Chad so I cannot say for sure, but he sure as hell could have got back on his bike, left Trey alone and cruised to a respectable finish. He chose the path that he went down. Without that move EVERYONE would be talking about Trey taking HIM out.

Reed did not decide to stop racing, show me where Reed left the track and stopped racing before the Black flag came out.

Reed retaliated (Wrongly or rightly) to being knocked of his bike.

Again both riders re-entered the track, both got on the gas hard, Canard then let up as Chad gave him a bump back. It all happened on track, maybe off the racing line but hey, I have seen riders cut a corner by jumping it and blow a rider off track and get less of a penalty, THEN have that penalty overturned!

Can someone please tell me the difference between Kdub, momentarily stopping his race to jump a corner with the sole intention to take out an unexpected DV before continuing with his race and Reed taking his time to run slightly wide to give Canard a bump, again momentarily taking his focus off the race before continuing on to race.

And don't give me the crap that Canard had pulled off to fix his goggles, yes he was fixing them, AFTER he took off flat out to stay in front of Chad then slowed to adjust, still on the track. Maybe off the racing line, but still with in the confines of a active race track.

Reed should be penalised for what he done, but from past references of conflict during a race between two riders on the same laps, seperated by a single position with one rider blatantly running into the opposing rider, the penalty at most has been nothing more than a monetary fine!

What Chad did was a little silly, and again if he waited less than a couple of seconds and just pile drove Canard in the next corner all is fine right?

If I am Chad I would be appealing the decision. Nothing to loose from it, even if he can't get his points back, it may lead to a change in the way in race penalties are delt with.

He decided to stop racing when he put a bulls eye on Trey and ran all the way over to hit him. If he were still racing he would have left Trey in the dust as he was putting along fixing his goggles.

I'm no hater of anybody, could not give a shit less what he does, just saying how do you tell your son that when racing bikes and someone knocks you over ,grab that bike and run the guy over ,dont let him straighten his goggles and bang a lever down, hit him while he aint looking.

It was a chump move and after that interview it would take a gallon jug of "vagisil" to cover and soothe that hole.

So how is that any different to any other rider you decides to put a target on a opposition rider to clearly take them out when they could easily make a clean pass and continue on with the race. Plenty of examples from every year of racing where a rider momentarily takes the focus off the racing to clean someone out then continue racing.

So again, what is the difference this time, both were on track, both going for position (If Trey was not concerned about keeping positions he would have made sure everything was fine before getting back on the Gas hard, then rolling off to fix his goggles)

Trey re-entered the track, then slowed up and pulled across a little of the main racing line, the key being Trey re-entered the track.

Would you have been more happy if Reed just waited to the next corner and stuffed Trey instead of giving him a bump and run while at slow speed?

If you agree that every single rider who cleans out another rider for payback deserves a blag flag, all good, that is fine, but if you think only Reed deserves it for what he done and other pay back hits are fine, well....

Again I think Chad should be penalised for what he did, maybe being Dq'ed from the race was justified and every past incident the FIM/AMA have got the call wrong, but there is no way one person in the heat of the moment should be able to make that call with out examining all the evidence.

Sure pull the blag flag out during the race, but at least have a panel of at least 3 people and review all footage first, surely in this day and age with that new age radio communication and television replays there could be 2-3 officials sitting in a both ready to examine this type of thing and make a decision. Like just about every other motorsport!

You assumed a lot of things there that I have never stated.

If Reed would have been smart enough to punt him while making a pass I think he would have gotten the benefit of the doubt by most people including the officials.

What he did was just plain ass dumb. He got caught and now he is bitching about it. One thing is for sure if he didn't hit Trey where there was no possible explanation for it other than payback then he is still in the race.

I like aggressive racing but I hate all the Reed sack riders that cannot see any possible way that the black flag is legit here.

As per your second paragraph, you think he would have got away with it if he had punted him in the next corner.

Do you think that would have been a legit thing to do?

Do you think he still deserves a blag flag if he does punt Canard in the next corner?

And what do you think has the better outcome for Trey personally, Chad Giving him a bump down a straight or Chad lining him up and cleaning him out in the next turn at full speed?

It is amazing how many people (and I am not saying you) are fine with someone going back and punting someone hard, but running a rider wide into a tough block at low speed is so not ok.

Either pay back of any type is not accepted or it is, every single take out in retaliation to an incident is done on purpose. How can running a ride wide be a black flag, when centre punching or even waiting till after a race to slap someone in the helmet be fine?

We don't take it as a dig Crush. I personally consider you one of the least biased non-Americans on the board and I enjoy your comments and insight. I feel like if you and I ever meet up we would hit it off great and be good friends.

Oh yes, about stupid ass lawsuits you are corrrct. We get some stupid shit that gets filed for lawsuits over here every day. Everyone wants to blame someone else when they fuck up and do stupid Shit. No one wants to own up to anything!!

P.S. just another observation. Us folks in the souther U.S. don't usually like being lumped in with the term yankees! J/k. I know what you're saying.

anyone give consideration to the fact that maybe his sponsor could be involved with said law suit if there even is one, all he said its up to the lawyers now?

what if Americas Tire said they will pull their advertising that is prominently displayed all over the stadiums unless something is done about Gallagher the FIM and AMA handling of the situation?

@aaryn#234: We get it, you're an AUSSIE, you feel a connection to Chad. Hence the possible bias.

Now, there are plenty of video's on youtube showing "takeouts", please show us some where the rider being retaliated on is slowed, moving over to the side of the track, off the racing line, adjusting their goggles with one hand off the bars!

Please do that or STFU. Because everything you compare this to is not comparable. Get it?
