This is a rather stupid question but I'll ask it anyway....at what point does winning races outweigh winning a championship.

Personally, if I were racing I would rather win races vs winning a championship with no wins.

Point is, if Roczen never won another race this season but still won the championship I don't think he would be as pumped.

Way too early to be giving your rivals points, he just didn't have the speed. If Tomac wins every single race from here to Vegas and Roczen finishes 2nd in all of them, Tomac would win the championship on 401 points versus Roczen's 377. Add in to the equation that by letting Tomac go and win his first ever 450 main event, you've just given him a huge boost of confidence to build on for the rest of the season, something you definitely don't want to do, especially after Tomac and his mechanic have made a lot of noise about how this is the most comfortable he has ever felt on a bike, on par with when he was waxing everyone on his 250.

I just think it's too early for him to actually be thinking like that and I put his 2nd place finish down to the fact that he couldn't match Tomac's speed.

I don't think Roczen or any racer wants to give up a lead and settle for 2nd place. Tomac has shown that he is faster than Roczen in both SX and MX. Canard also has incredible strength in both outdoors and indoor tracks. Roczen is doing everything right to win a championship at this point with only two races in the books. Great starts and great finishes.

Let's say Tomac dominates Roczen here on out. He still crashes out of another race leaving Roczen 1st in the championship. Given that Tomac, hypothetically speaking, dominated Roczen; which rider do you see as the better rider?

I personally don't care who is more consistent. I want to see guys riding/racing fast.

You know Roczen beat Tomac (the reigning champion) to the West Coast title right?

Roczen rode great for the title, but he wasn't faster than Tomac ... not that I saw, anyway. If I remember correctly, Tomac took himself out of the championship in a spectacular crash in the whoops.

Championship schmampionship. 1992: Who won the SX title, Bayle or Stanton? I can't remember. All I remember is Damon Bradshaw. 8 wins is the answer. 8 will make 'em stand up and say damn.

Kennys fork was clearly too stiff and his shock needed a bit more rebound damping. Otherwise he had it in the bag!

Pretty sure that the world champ, 250sx champ & 450MX champ knows a little bit about this racing stuff.

It's round 2.... If Tomac wins the rest of the rounds and Kenny finishes second.... who wins the title?

Tomac was on the gas plain and simple.... smart riding by Kenny who knew it.

14 races left and 3 point difference between 1st and 2nd, 14 races x 3 points equals 42 and kr only has a 21 point lead, not over by any means yet!!

Did you really just ask that question? Haha. It's only round 2!! There will be lots of shake ups before Vegas, if they both even make it that far.

I don't remember bradshaw's eight wins nor that Stanton won the title. I only remember bradshaw's ultimate choke at the coliseum.

Yeah, because Roczen's never been in or around a series in which the eventual champion had a disastrous race or two, particularly in the early part of the series........

That's kind of a silly question.

Championships matter to the people who cut you the check. And in the end.....championships are what are written in the record books. Single wins are nice.....but if you can't bring home the big one at the end....well , plain and simple you failed.

In war....you can win a lot of battles , but if you lose the war.......you lost everything. Makes the single wins a complete and utter moot point.

thing is, tomac is going to have to carry on riding on the edge to get the wins and try to close the massive points gap that he is (already) behind! its going to be great to watch- but I think dungey will be roczens closest rival for the championship. Those two will keep putting in consistently good finishes through the year- tomac/canard will probably win a few, but consistency will win the champs this year.

The pace is very even through the top 10, starts are vitally important this year!
