I was sitting there waiting for it to happen and so was everyone else including the referee and sure enough, bam, it happens. They clearly weren't happy with it. It was a heat race. Maybe I was just prejudice, but that is the way I saw it.

I was really stoked for Zach as he was riding great and is a great kid, cross trains offroad and puts his heart and soul into it.

Bowers clearly has the speed.

I am sure his team manager gave him a big talking to, not only about that incident but how not to speak your mind on live TV.

I am grateful he spoke his mind, but I am sure they weren't.

Zach has a lot of class...he's clearly the faster rider. Someones gonna punt Bowers before the seasons over. We'll see how he handles it. That type of riding hasn't shown to work in the big bike class so I would think Bowers should work on his speed and lines and skip the rough stuff. This isn't the 80's or 90's....the guys are going much faster and the risk level is 10x as high as it was was back then. I like both guys though...hope they both do well this year.

Please, he squared up the corner and hit him, it was far from a clean pass. Zach didn't turn down on him or anything. This place fucking imploded when Mike lost control of his brakes and took out Tickle.

Even Emig said it was overly aggressive for the start of a heat race.

Please. Go back and watch the vid. They came together, but there was no hit. Osborne stood it up and took himself out on the tuff block.
Really?
[Can we talk about the pass on Zach Osborne?
It was mean. It wasn’t very nice. It was a downright aggressive pass and I meant to do it. I’m not going to lie. The guy hit me two times before that and I’m not anybody’s punk anymore. I let [Blake] Wharton do it to me two years ago, and from the same team. Then I was filling in and I wasn’t trying to get into the middle of anybody’s championship points or anything like that. Now I don’t care. It’s me, I’m here to race, I’m here to win. I’m here to win a championship. Nobody’s going to push me around. I made a statement in the main event and nobody wanted to get near me. – Steve Matthes]

I think it's funny Bowers thinks people are going to be scared of him, lol.....he probably won't even make it thru the series now. This ain't Arenacross...this is the real deal. It's going to get real, really quick for him.....I noticed how quick he made up with Zach....he knows the deal.

Yup. Can't wait for Bowers to get his. He thinks he's some big badass that everyone is afraid of. What a joke...

He already got his with Wharton, if he noticed in the main people did give him a lot of room whenever he came up on them. The thing I like about Bowers is he's gonna race aggressive we all know that and so does he, but he's not gonna cry about it when the same thing is done to him. He's prepared for people to race him like that and he's prepared to do the same. I would rather watch that then him sitting behind someone for 10 laps.

What's funny is how riders changed when they figured out who was behind him, they were scared.

There is one thing I can guarantee you, not a single guy in the pits, in either class would last 15 seconds with him in a fight.

Not sure how ZO broke his thumb in this incident with TB. Watch the second view of the incident & Zach never even takes his hands off the grips grabbing the clutch & picking his bike up when video cuts away. Now Tyler hits Zack on his Right side & it's Zacks Left hand/thumb taped up ? Hope he's good for next week.
Well. I broke mine this year the same way, when the bike and you are moving forward and the bike stops and you don't, your thumb can be "hyperextended" with you moving forward and the bars/grips not. Does this makes sense to you?

i dig aggressive bar-banging action, always have. nothing wrong with what Bowers did in my opinion. i would like to see the hits Osborne put on Bowzer though, Tyler obviously felt like he had something to retaliate for.

good hard racing and props to both Zach and Tyler for moving on and performing well in the main

Cool, but we're racing bikes and we've already seen Wharton punt him...it'll happen again if he doesn't cool it.

That John Galagher needs to get over himself. Running over to get in Bowers face right after the heat. He should be a bit more professional and watch the replay a few times before he goes all Euro soccer player on Tyler.

If I was Mitch Id be like WTF?

Or his dad.
Bowers will race you if you race him clean. Osborne got in to him and started the incident. Bowers finished it as he should've.

That's the thing though, he isn't afraid of that happening. If it does happen again he won't whine about it, he'll say it was racing and then get them back later. I see nothing wrong with that. What I do have a problem with is guys riding aggressive and then getting upset when the same thing happens to them like Barcia has done in the past.

Sandberm nailed it about the official.

Aggressively confronting a rider immediately after the race is unprofessional and often ineffective. If that behavior is characteristic for the official maybe it's time for him to find a new position.

The FIM called. They said you're banned for 16 months.

Doesn't Zach share some burden in keeping himself on the track? You gotta deal with bars, with elbows with people taking your lines and generally getting pushed all over the track. Especially when it's for the lead. Had Zach let off the throttle and reentered the track in 3rd, this wouldn't even be an issue.

I really dont understand the uproar, and I think todays riders and fans are pussys. I can tell you first hand that if Hannah, RJ, Bailey Shultz Barnett and even Holley were coming up on you, you better have kept you legs out of the way because they were going to bash you.

Before SX, John used to also referee the AX series. I think he’s got a pretty good idea of what and where the line is, and how to handle it.

I’ve known him for a long time. I’d guess if he visited Tyler immediately after the race it was because he saw a behavior that he didn’t want to see repeated, and wanted to deliver the message ASAP.

This might be one of the dumber things I've read on Vital, and that's saying a lot.

Who gives a crap if Bowers can "beat someone up"? He's already proven that he can with the classless crap he pulled a few years ago putting someone that was training with him in the hospital. The Bowers are scum...

Who the fuck races pro to make friends? That type of thinking is why yer watching him on the TV and not in person lined up next to him at A1.

Bower rides with some damn good precision... Watch his control of the scooter.... Amazing.

Much like Suh for my lowly Detroit Lions, Bowers has earned a reputation and thusly attracks attention and scrunity before anything happens. Then when it does happen it's not passed over or missed.

I didn't see any problem with Bower's move. Did FIM chat with Makelrath for punting Hansen off the track in the main?

It all part of the script. This series needs the drama. It not like ZO was trying to mess with TB's Peas.

I talked to both right after the main. - Bowers Interview - Osborne Interview - I haven't listened or read too much post-race stuff--i'm trying to get back into SX season mode and struggling--so I don't know if they said much more than you've already heard in my talks with them. You could tell Zach was super bummed on Tyler but was holding his tongue, and Tyler, well he's Tyler. If he thinks it, he says it. Which this sport needs a bit more of. I personally didn't think the hit was too out of line and definitely not close to the worst I've witnessed from Tyler, but the injury to Zach sure bums me out. The two kids I root for the most are Hahn and Osborne and both took shots Saturday night.

After the incident with Osbourne it was pretty clear no one wanted to mess with him the rest of the night. And if someone does want to get physical with him he's used to it, and will be there to give it right back which I like.
