Anyone else see Dirt Rider crowned YZ as the top bike again? KTM/Husaberg finish tied for last because of suspension woes, peaky top-end punch and 10lbs heavier then everyone else. Thoughts?

Wish KTM would dump the WP stuff. Really holding them back. Everyone I know hates the suspension on most all KTM's, even the new 4cs stuff which sucks out of the box. Imagine if there was a KYB option for these bikes, Perfection.

I agree. I just rode a new Ktm250sxf and it was a pig. No bottom no mid and felt as heavy as the 450 I was also trying out. The yz winning is a no brained to me also. We had a 14 and it was awesome

I rode a 15 YZF250 and thought it felt so awkward and had zero low end, I was left scratching my head. I just didn't get all the hype and I went in eager to ride one!. I'm not sure what the deal was, but it was a dudd except if you reached 14K, then it seemed to move. I dunno, maybe just me but there are other 250F that just feel and work way better to me in comparison.

What's the deal with the wide scoops and loud intake?

Don't hate, it's just one opinion, but again, I just don't get it with the YZF.

No hate. You just didn't ride one. The new 250 yzfs are low end monsters with minimal top end over rev. Look at every dyno chart from every shootout. All the same with yamaha winnjng low and mid with ktm on top. And the 250s are not the ones that breathe hard and you can hear it, the 450s are. But I still like you

Go away troll. Every single review and every single person you talk to that has actually ridden a 14/15 says it has gobs of low end for a 250f.

You guys are right...I'm nuts...not surprised for you to defend your blue colors. No worries.

But is it just me or do the dynos suggest that the YZF doesn't produce the most torque to defend your arguments of blue having so much low end?

I must have rode a turd, seriously, but it doens't add up to everything that I hear and read.

Love my 14 250f. I laugh at people saying it's wide. Went from a 12 Honda 450 to this bike. Couldn't be happier.

Dynos are great, but thst doesn't mean it translates to a good engine on the track. Put the fishing pole down.

Wait, hold on a min...I merely say that I wasn't a huge fan of the YZF, but was very open-minded, neutral in my assessment and was eager to ride one, but are all you blue guys that insecure that all you can do is claim troll? Then I share a dyno and clearly the YZ doesn't win for MAX torque or even max HP, so now it's "put down the fishing pole"?

Geez, so in this world sharing an honest story, combined with some real data and the best you do is claim troll. Common now. All 250F's are slow, IMO and are are so close on the dyno, it's really about picking a color and your riding ability.

We still don't hate you though. How bout this. Have a friend that is a KTM , honda and Kawasaki dealer aand his son races YZs when the 14s came out. At this point nothing compares to that bike in the 250 class. All smiles still

Oh and his son was there when I rode the KTM as did he and he said the same thing I did. Pig and only top end. KXF was pretty nice too but still not on par with the blue bike

U sure it wasn't a 125? I know about 7 a/b riders who have switched to the 15's for the new year and couldn't be happier. Their a really good bike . One of the factory teams here in Aus only did a top end rebuild at 63hrs on one of their practice bikes and it was all still in spec.

What did you ride in 5th the whole track or something?

I rode one of them things at the YZ demo in November and it gave me a boner.

I weigh 185 and that thing MOVED when it was down low. Not a fan of the wide shrouds but other than that it was a really great motorcycle, I didn't want to give it back.

Sorry i have to disagree, I think riding 250f like a 125 isn't going to get you anywhere and it will wear you out very fast.

You do need bottom end, Watch Pourcel ride a 250f, even when Ken Roczen rode one. They both use the torque of the power, their not bouncing off the rev limiter.

Especially in sand, its lot easier ride the bike in 4th mid range then to have bike over revving in 3rd. If the bikes revving hard your rear wheel will just spin and you won't be going anywhere.

Just my opinion and thats how i was taught to ride..

Agree with JB479. Tried to ride my 250f like a 125 and ended up going back to a 125. You get the most out of the 250f when you can keep it in a higher gear everywhere you can get away with on the track.

Are you serious? Listen to Tomac, Barcia, Bagget, Martin...They are all ringing the piss out of a 250F. 450's are usually a gear high, but a 250f has a much narrower powerband...which is consequently near the top of the RPM range.

Ya , I always base my major purchases off what some magazine says, kidding

My son went from a Kaw250F to a Honda 250F and I was a bit skeptical but he tested most of the brands and liked the Honda the best. This past fall he went 7 for 8 on holeshots in his first few races on the Honda in the 250 A class . The bike was still bone stock and the competition was tough. His starts and riding were better and more consistent.

Now with that said , I think 90% of it is mental. All the bikes are great and dyno numbers are just that numbers.

If I get a 14/15 yz250f is it going to be a difficult transition for me? I've only raced 2 strokes, never even owned a 4 stroke. I started out on a 125sx 5 years ago and moved up to a 150sx last year. I was able to be pretty competitive in the 30B class, top 3 usually. Do I ride a gear higher and "lug" it around or do I ride it like my 150, constantly shifting and clutching?

Depends how big you are really. If you are light enough you will hardly need the clutch at all. You can keep it in a higher gear through corners and feather the clutch. They have enough torque that you don't need to ring it out and ride the clutch everywhere. Just keep it in the meat of the power and shift before it falls off. If you can ride a 150, you sure as hell can ride a lazy man's 4-stroke.

Picked up a '15 YZ250f in September and I love it. Great power, runs like a raped ape, and turns on a dime. But then again I am largely bias because I've been riding for 20 years and have never owned anything other than a YZ. So there's that
