Retired now, but last full time job was with CARTER BROTHERS GO-KARTS/SYM SCOOTERS as the tech support guy and also taught service seminars to the dealer network. But moved north after they had a fire and the place burnt down. All I could find work wise was a meat cutter for a grocery store then lost part of a foot and now having my eyes worked on, growing old sucks.

Went to college in communications for my undergrad. Working on my MBA. Might have an interview with a major player in the industry. If I get the job, get paid an additional $20k a year and not be a support rep.

Self employed. Settlement Agent contractor. Handle closings for Attorneys, Builders and Title companies on purchases, refinances and commercial closings. Currently knee deep in sales of NJ foreclosures for Fannie Mae. I also handle reverse mortgages for AIG in NJ....you've all seen that commercial with former actor/senator Fred Thompson?

Retired....get to screw off all day , every day....also I hunt, fish, restore vintage bikes and muscle cars drink, smoke good cigars, travel the world with my lovely bride and generally just fuck off...

I hope I can get into a job like that, I can do it all, I don't want to stand in one spot and do one job everyday.
We do most of our work for a local scale company. We've got some higher volume orders that keep us busy most of the time, but we also get some small batch first article runs. With only a few of us in the shop we all have to wear a few different hats. It works out pretty well that way, just being a button pusher can get real old real fast!

Currently a year and a half away from a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, but I work part time in a bicycle shop and on a milk delivery run to pay for my adrenalin addiction. I'll be working as an intern in an industrial diamond manufacturing company from this January as part of my course though.

Right now the dream is to be working in KTM or Rolls-Royce as a design engineer, but we'll see how that pans out in the next few years.

30 years in telecomm sales and after starting a company in 76 with two partners grew it to 47 employees and 15 million in sales only to have my partner (3rd partner left three years into it) give it away to Warren Avis 12/84 when Avis bought the company for book value. Moved to CA in 86 moved to the other side of the fence when I was recruited to work for one of the manufacturers we had represented. After 25 years of corporate BS I decided at 51 to pursue my passion and have repped a US manufacturer of muffler packing material for over six years. 2.5 years ago I moved to Maui and after mornings in the office managing my accounts I spend the afternoon M-F with a Downs Syndrome teenager and occasionally sub on the weekends for an autistic 9 year old boy. On the 17th of January I take on my biggest challenge when I start spending 6 hours on Saturdays with a pretty much non verbal aggressive 12 year old autistic boy. In my third year of special needs work and even though it can be extremely stressful at times I cherish the relationships I have built with my "students" and their families.

Anyone else notice that the usual loud mouths are absent from this thread?. I commend the dudes who rarely post, being so candid about their livelihoods.

Also..to those who are in law enforcement. .thanks for your services, you are still appreciated by some in this country.

Work for my parents as a machinery rigger. My grandfather started it in 1949 and it has supported motocross in the family since the 70's. I get to do a lot of cool stuff in this line of work. If you have craftsman sockets we move the machine that punches them out or have performance friction brakes on your car we put the machines in that cut rotors or press the pads together. We do work for a lot of local machine shops that do work for nascar teams also. That is just a few things we do. It is hard work but the good thing is no two jobs are the same, it stays interesting trying to figure out how to do something safe and right!

I'm a civilian doing public affairs/public relations work for the US Navy in Japan. Between active duty/civilian time, I've been here for just over 18 years, but since I got divorced, I've gotten more than a little homesick so I'd really like to get back stateside for a bit.
