Has anybody else besides me EVER hid a bike out in the shed until the "right time" to break it to the wife?
Just wondering

hahaha, no, haven't been married long enough and I don't have a shed, but I could understand doing that.

do you find yourself going out to "check the mail" or "look at something on the lawnmower" just to sneak a peak?

Fortunately my wife is pretty cool about me buying bikes. She knows I work hard to keep our finances straight. However....seems like every new project I bring home and show her, she gives me that look like I just bought the biggest pile of sh*t ever and there is no hope Smile It's great.

I have a 'bike account' that she has NO idea how much money I have in. So I'll buy 800 dollar wheels and tell her I spent 400. She can appreciate a deal (she's a woman) I spend 400 out of my bike account and spend 400 out of out checking. That's how I keep my wife happy/in the dark

The wife and I have separate accounts. The bills are split down the middle but I take care of entertainment and unexpected expenditures. I buy whatever I want for myself without much backlash.

Hahaha, that's one way to do it.

My wife does all of our day-to-day finances, I do the long term stuff, so she knows everything I buy. It's ok, she's the one who's more willing to spend money on me than I am on myself anyway so it's not a problem. At least so far.

I do the same thing. I just bought a $200 saw that I got a hell of a deal on for $100 somehow. Haha.

My wife knows my love for riding and supports it. Not once has she ever said I should not go riding.

I'm fortunate that my wife is very understanding and tolerant. I handle our household finances and we're both fortunate to have great jobs. We figure since we work hard, we should enjoy some things. For me, it's motorcycles.

I told my wife I want a 2015 KTM 450 FE and I'm going to sell my bike. Well, the shop I work for doesn't know if they are getting two and the first is spoken for and her response was "do you really have to sell yours to afford the new one?" Yup, she's awesome. She would let me keep my 2014 250 SX and put a 2015 450 FE in the garage next to it...I just haven't decided if that's the best decision yet since I don't "need" two bikes...but she would let me. I'm lucky!

It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I've done it, my wife tends to stay out the garage and it took a while for her to see it and when she asked, I said " I bought that a few months ago, I told you, probably weren't paying attention."
The bitch was it was like a two hour ride when I went to get it,she was at work and had called while me and my buddy were taking the ride, I was waiting for the hammer to drop with "where are you" but it never came up.

Ha first bike i bought was a 2 for 1. bought mine and my sons 50. she came home walked in through the garage and then started screaming and yelling. that was 7 years ago. a few other have poped up here and there at one time had up 7 bikes before she realized it. now im down to 6 lmao.

one of the best was when took son to SOBMX for the week and showed up with a brand new bike i tried to get it in the garage before she saw it but no luck.

I know of a guy who pulled off a pretty good scam to buy a new road bike in without his wife knowing it.

The bike he wanted (I think it was a high-end Tarmac) only came in black. His current bike was yellow, or some other distinctive color. So, he paints his old bike black (with a rattle can) a couple of weeks before his new bike shipped. He kept it hanging in the garage, and made sure his wife knew that he painted it. When his new black bike shipped a few weeks later, he just slipped it into the garage without her being any wiser. He gave his old bike to another friend of mine who still rides it today.

Ive been in the drive thru and had my wife call me before i ever made it to the second window about my spending.

My brother in law went out to a strip club and my sister told him not to spend any money. He agreed and got caught up in the moment and took out $200. When he got home she asked if he spent any money and he said he spent $100. She lit into him pretty good. After he fell asleep she checked her phone and had gotten an automatic text showing he took out $200. She woke his ass up and lit him up again.

Fucking women.

I HAD a hidden ebay credit line id put $2500 on during my five bike rebuilds. I screwed up and accidentally left my email open and she saw how much I owed lol. Not a big argument, but instead of paying my monthly payments I'm having to pay $500 payments to get it paid off quickly. No more buying on credit for me since I am addicted to getting new packages in the mail Sad

This is exactly why I like my relationship with my wife. I like getting new stuff but she keeps me level headed about purchases. She's actually pretty cool about money.

Not really but semi related-
I (briefly) had this GF that just became too high maintenance. I finally had enough
and nixed it. The next day I went and got a CBR 600 that I had been wanting. I still
have the bike and refer to it as the best trade-in I've made. Smile

My wife is the bomb. She has never questioned me about anything because she knows I'm living life doing every single thing I love and doing the right thing of coarse. We realize life is short and a person should be able to enjoy every opportunity and dream. Of coarse finances are the number one responsibility but if you have that in check there is no reason why you should not have everything you want. My best friend makes huge money in real estate, he owns a century 21 and has a large high dollar area monopolized but his wife does not let him breathe with out her permission and of coarse I have to much freedom so she is always worried he might want to possibly fish one day a year or something like that. Oh No, but she disappears to concerts and trips all the time just dropping it on him a day before all the time. He gets physically nervous every time she calls. F that. Mary a cancer guys. They are caring and not selfish in any way.

No, I haven't. The thought has crossed my mind before when I see a nice 125 on Craigslist.

This is the way to do it. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't make much money and always needs mine. She also has the married woman's point of view too: what's hers is hers and what's mine is hers.

A few years ago when i was still on 85's and getting a little too tall for them so my dad started looking around for a 125, we found a pristine '05 YZ125 for 2,300 with only 30 hrs on it.

My mom had told my dad no new bikes as we already had 4 yamahas in the garage and needed to sell a few but this deal was too good to pass up so he bought it and snuck it into the garage to try to blend it in with the others, it worked for about 2 weeks then my sister ratted me and my dad out

Growing up as kids, my dad would bring home new bikes (for he and I both) saying that we are "testing them out". After a few weeks, they never left!

Now at 25 and single with a great job, my finances are almost out of line becsuse of bikes and such. I almost need a CFO (chief female officer) to manage my spending.

I bought a new triathlon bike and didn't tell the wife. She knew I was looking, but had no idea they cost as much as a dirt bike. We didn't talk for 2 days.
I'm sure I'll pay for it....with a high credit card bill next month. Smile

I have so many different MX bikes, sleds ATVs etc in and out of my garage that I am working on or trading or fixing and selling etc, that she never knows what is mine and what isn't and I am pretty sure she doesn't want to know so she does not ask. Cool
