Northstar closes this weekend, rode all day yesterday and am so sore today. I was hitting it pretty hard on my Demo and tore my rear rim up pretty good on Boondocks. It's still rideable and might head up in a bit, but, I'm so sore I want to end the season on a high note... Not just cruising down the mountain.Wink

I would have to say my personal favorite bike park so far is Winter Park. But all 3 parks are very different and each have their own style. Winter Park rides like a roller coaster. Fun and fast!

For a hardtail, I would definitely recommend Winter Park before Keystone. I saw the most hardtails at Winter Park for sure. Keystone was the toughest and most brutal of all of the bike parks in the area. Insanely long and rocky. Very trail-like and slower overall, and rough!

Evolution Park at Crested Butte is my 2nd favorite of the 3 parks I visited. It was flowy, jumpy and smooth, but way too short.

That's where Winter Park comes in. It is flowy, fun and smooth like Crested Butte, but long like Keystone, so I think it has the best of both worlds.

Keystone is the biggest park with the most trails, Winter Park next size-wise, with Crested Butte coming in pretty small, but with the fewest bikers to get in your way. Winter Park was the busiest, but everybody is real nice about getting the hell out of your way.

The summer seasons are short in the mountains, so plan accordingly. The bike parks all closed over the last few weeks, but the snow is on the way!
Cool, thank you. If I have a work trip next August or September I'll definitely bring the bike and try Winter Park.

Yeah, I follow the radio station KSMT on facebook and saw that the snow makers are already running up there.

Giant Reign SX. Not quite a Dh bike, but not a cross country or enduro either. I like the 26 inch wheels as I love to jump and rail berms. I ride mostly lift access or shuttle. I may buy a more trail/climbing bike for next year, something with 27.5 wheels. I tried a few bike with 29s and was not a fan.

Well my biking is shot to hell since some ass hat stole my TranceX29er off the carrier after cutting through 3 cable locks in broad daylight.

Sad

talked to the shop that sold it to me and they heard of at least a 2 dozen high end bikes stolen in the past week. the PD did not sound too hopeful of finding it.

I am in. Need to find some motivation to get out and ride as of late it had been nothing but the stationary trainer for myself as my new job and long commutes have cut dramatically into my rides.

After settling up with the insurance Co. I just picked this up this evening A Fezzari Alta Peak 27.5 in a XL frame size. It was quite the challenge finding a XL frame for my 6'4" height and a 30" inseam The 27.9" stand over is a godsend for my short legs.

Here she is on the ride on the train this evening. Planning on adding a dropper seatpost, Guide RS brakes and a wider set of bars this spring. Cannot wait till Thanksgiving day to take advantage of the mid 50 degree temps here in the SLC area.

You all need to take those flats off and go to clipless.

Personal preference bro.

I have a buddy that won the Florida State Championship in his class on flat pedals, and another buddy who is in 2nd in the state in points, also on flats. I've been mountain biking 15 years, 3 times a week and use to clip in years ago, but I prefer flats now, my cousin did the same.

They will be coming off soon. The shop was out of stock of CrankBros Mallets. They are the best of both worlds flats when I need them and clipless when i want to crank all out.

Thanksgiving day ride will be mostly on the flat bike paths in SLC chasing a couple of ladies on there roadies Wink At least i will enjoy the view from behind Evil

Don't have any of just my bike. After owning everything from a DJ to a full DH rigs, and everything in between, All mountain/enduro is where it's at! Love my Big S Enduro. I think MTB tech has been going like moto was in the 80's as of late. Great time to ride bikes!

Currently I have a custom built up Trek Session 88, about to upgrade that to the 27.5 version of the same.

I also have a custom built Santa Cruz Bronson 27.5. Here's a couple action shots from Whistler riding A line and during a Blue Mountain Enduro.

I'm not much for the 29 full suspension wheel size. I think the 29 hard tail has a place for super smooth rolling places that have sweeping corners. But for DH and enduro, I ride 27.5. I think 29 is fast but I just don't like the feel.

As I mentioned in my previous, post my buddies that race on platforms are putting down times faster than most of the clipped in racers. You can ride just as fast on either pedals, when I clipped in I felt slower.

Yes, I had seen that one before. It was interesting that more oxygen was used when clipped in. I don't think one is much better than the other, I've ridden with both, it's just a personal preference thing.

It's like arguing 2 stroke vs 4 stroke, or 29 inch wheels vs 27.5. If someone prefers the other one you can't convince them otherwise, for good reason, they both are good.

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this question but there appear to be a lot of MTB experts chiming in so here it goes...

What seems to be the general consensus on the new Giant Reign 27.5 2 in terms of all mountain riding? For the money, is there anything similar worth considering? Seems like a good value for a 27.5. I think I'm over my 2011 26" Trek Remedy 9 XL. Don't want to break the bank on a 27.5 bike. The reign is in the lead right now but what else do you guys think I should be looking at in that price range? I don't shuttle so I need something that can climb but I'm definitely not a trail dude. Anyone care to offer some advice? Again, sorry if this is too OT.

Definitely a great option. Another low priced option is Norco Sight or Range. They have aluminum and carbon versions, the aluminum being priced pretty reasonable.
