Thought this was a bit interesting. Dean ran one for quite awhile, then quit using them while working with Hughes, and now has one again.

Reed's comment is a bit... Reed-esque. Laughing

A top rider/team owner commenting negatively on safety gear is kinda gay but I have to applaud Reed for saying whatever the hell he wants when he wants.

I think many would agree that Wilsons whole gear / bike setup is one of the better ones to this point. Reminds me a bit of Hansen in 06 I think? its either the whole Answer / KTM combo works or just the blue gear / KTM works.

I think Answer is ramping up for a big year. They have Wilson, Hahn, maybe Weimer still, they snagged Martin and Webb also.

It sounds like Tucker Rockey owns Answer and MSR so they call the shots and MSR is taking a back seat in mx.

Hmmm...
Interesting alright. Looks and money before safety. Kinda backa$$wards if you ask me.

But truthfully, I am more interested in how the he!! you got that sweet Intagram picture posted to Vital with all the links to work and everything ML.

You've become quite the internet ninja... Smile

I'm sure Reed is just being facetious. If I remember right, he turned on neck braces after Andrew McFarlane passed away. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of top guys wearing braces do so because they are paid to.

Instagram recently changed their embed code and our site isn't a fan of it, we're working on resolving it. Until then, I'm having to use a work-around with a copy of the old code.

Embed code - work-around - old code.... Yeah, that clears it up for me.

I am trying to keep up with all this stuff, but dang are they making it hard...

I like it. Good for Deano, I could not dis agree more with Reeds stance and post, but I won't bash a guy for saying how he feels. At least he says how he feels. I just became a bigger Dean fan.

Reeds comment isn't only hilarious... it says a lot about the industry and neck braces. I don't think anyone wears them anymore unless it's for pay and apparently Sir Chad agrees with me.

Tucker owns both Answer and MSR, they decided to separate the brands though, similar to THOR(moto)/MOOSE(offroad) with Parts Unlimited. MSR will be mainly for their off-road guys (minus those grandfathered in or whatever I.E Nick Wey) and Answer will be their motocross brand, they switched a few big amateurs over to answer (sanayei) and yamalube team and individual riders. Also note that Tucker Rocky is now stocking 100% goggles and many of the remaining Smith guys (yamalube) and the new Answer riders (wilson) are running them right through the Tucker Rocky deals.

also that gear wilsons wearing in the instagram pic isn't productin gear, probably gonna be a LE release around A1.

IS it safety gear? Mind showing me a study that proves it?

Not gonna link to a study on that, wearing gloves, wearing boots or any other safety gear, sorry. Neck "donuts" are/were considered safety equipment, doesn't mean they were 100% or even 5% effective. You are free to agree with Reed and Hughes and not wear this piece of safety equipment.

99% of top riders do not like them and if they wear them they are being paid something that makes them sleep better at night.

I think you're kinda gay....

Top riders also don't always pick what bike is their favorite either, you think it's out of the ordinary that they wear something for money? I don't remember ever meeting you, so you think I type gay?

Imagine if this guy rode with good technique (lol)

I think not wearing a brace can be safer if you feel more comfortable without it. Just my $0.02

Common sense on gloves and boots, Good argument. Comparing thos every day things people outside of motocross use to prevent everyday injuries such as getting a splinter or rolling an ankle, But a neck brace that claims it can save you from being paralyzed, same logical thing.

I wasn't really presenting an argument, that was my point. I would think motocross equipment shouldn't be compared to things used to combat "everyday" type injuries. I was simply saying I don't have any 100% conclusive evidence to present to you, so do what you want. Is your argument that a neck brace cannot save someone from paralysis?

Lol, some of you clowns just can't resist beating the no neck/yes neck brace drum, Every time the word "neck brace" is typed its a 5 page tangent about how they work or don't work. FML if you like them wear it if you don't.........don't

Now back to Reeds comment, He needs to worry about getting inside the top 10 (yea I just said that) blow me lol, instead being Mr comedy fashion police lol. That ought to divert you neck brace warriors for a while...... lmao.Woohoo Laughing

Same might apply to a helmet...

MX is full of poseurs who look up to people like Chad, not endorsing safety gear.
It sux when racers perpetuate this rubbish downstream to impressionable riders.

I think if you jump on this band wagon you are an idiot.

I think I saw a pic of Wey in Answer gear the other day but I might be wrong. As for the neck brace designers in here, please stfu. No one honestly cares all that much if you believe they work and couldn't care any less about your argument.

Much like no one cares if you're a seat-of-the-pants engineer and think they don't.

Here is a study with Declaration by Independent Reviewers saying all the data is original and correct.
