Bought the game on the weekend after being a long time player of Reflex on the PC (I think disbanded and a few others post here?).

First impressions...hated it.
Gave it more than 5 minutes and fell in love with it...it sure is a bare bones game but thats all I need to feed my MX game fetish.

The game really opened up to me when I got to the first soft surface track. All the bikes were full on Canard MEC styles railing corners FWO. Was a blast.

One thing I noticed and HOPING it;s not the case. Anyone who played Alive for any length of time would have noticed that the 250s were far better at clearing bigger obstacles that the 450s...eg the massive scrub jump at the Stewart compound and some of the trickier jumps in some of the DLC tracks.

I unlocked 450s last night and was having the feeling that this trait may have carried over into this new game. I didnt get much playing the 450 but initially I just felt some of the jumps couldn't be cleared like I could on the 250cc.

Anyone else noticed anything similar?

Edit: Thaks to the guy who posted about the DLC being available on XBL arcade. I couldnt get the moto depot to work either. Also...patch d/ld this morning but no idea what it changes.
i got that same feeling at first but i linked it to the fact i just finished racing a fully modified 250. once i got the fully modified 450, that theory went out the window. it seems just as able if not more so to get over the bigger jumps.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to preload consistently. I try to do it fast, slow, early, late, hold the follow through, flick and release. Nothing is consistent.

I asked in the hate thread with no real response. What do you do to scrub. Ive tried everything lol. I haven't unlocked factory chassis yet but I've gotta be close. I was playing at my buddies house for half the night and then went home to play at my house and had to start all over with the unlocks.
I won the first 250 series then started to play online. I love the online. Except the freezing and lagging. I almost put my controller through the tv once, I finally got a good start and was leading on like the third straight and nailing the rhythm and it froze and i had to reset my xbox.
Im a fan of the game though. I hope they release suzuki soon so I can get it and level up the 450.
MY game from Target didn't come, maybe tomorrow, great thread here, good info, I am a bit excited haha.

Update tracking says it will be here Friday. Dayum! At least it's coming I reckon.

Thanks thats good to know.
The beers I had before playing may also have had an influence on trying to flap off the back of a 450 the first time.

This game is Rad! The best! Ive been playing it for hours on top of hours. I have about 60 hours on it to date. Oh wait. That's Destiny, not MX vs ATV SX because it doesn't exist for PS4.

Hopefully soon Right? RIGHT???????

I'll wait.

I played it for a bit last night. Went undefeated on west coast and 4 rounds in to the east coast series. There seems to be a lack of feel involved in the jumps. On the previous games I could tell before I hit the face if I needed to scrub, seat bounce or just huck it. Now I am OJ'n or casing jumps on the reg, but that excessive clutch boost allows me to recover.

Anyone else think that clutch boost is a bit overkill?

WTF? Does that mean UPS made a u-turn or what? That's odd. Just order it on Amazon. That's what I did and had it on day of release.

Oh and James Stewart is one elusive mofo. Roczen is no slouch either. I finally beat their asses last night by about 3 seconds.

Game is fun as hell once you have a factory 450 and learn the tracks. Before I knew the tracks I was preloading everything and hoping for the best. Now I rarely use preload and find myself scrubbing and dragging the brake halfway up the face on the majority of stuff.

I'm digging the game especially now that I have the bike "factory". Wondering if anyone else is having online issues? Last night every time I would play it would go thru practice, race would start, 45 seconds in race would be over, next track, practice, game freezes up. Problem is only when playing online?

I hope I get to where you are. So far I have to keep the frustration down.

I just got the factory chassis and can barely keep my bike straight now. Do you use the stock or you just got the handling figured out with time?

That's the hardest part, not getting frustrated. But I realized it wasn't the game, it was me not knowing the tracks and going into a rhythm section with no plan. The factory chassis was a huge adjustment for me, too. It seemed like once you kind of got things figured out with the stock bike, you were starting all over again with a squirrely factory bike. I kept the factory chassis, I figured switching back to stock would just delay progression. It will take several races to get comfortable with it, but once you do the game really starts to get fun. I have to say, other than getting comfortable on the factory bike, the biggest thing is learning the tracks. I still don't know all of them, or even the majority, but there are a few that I have memorized and it's SO much more fun when you know what's lurking around that next bowl turn and actually having a game plan going into a section.

I have many top 50 mixed overall times using the atv. 3rd on anaheim with a 1:03 The bikes handling is atrocious. The atvs are a little better. The game is meh. Super arcady. Mix of unleashed, alive , and excitebike.

Right on man! I'll just keep putting in the seat time and should get in down. There are a couple tracks where I can get a good flow going and you are right, you have to learn the tracks and know when to seat bounce and when not to.

Is it me or does the factory chassis make you preload way higher and or almost too much?

It does seem to make it preload more. That's why I don't use it much anymore. I got to where I was overshooting everything. Once you get to where you can be smooth and downside everything good instead of casing or landing between jumps, you won't use the preload much. Corner speed plays a big part, too. If you can get through a corner good, then dab the clutch on exit, you can clear most jumps out of a corner and stay lower doing it.

Yup I buy any Moto game for Xbox or PC. If the laptime thing works correctly that will be enough to keep me going. Hopefully no weird cheat moves will appear, I hated the throttle glitch or what ever it was for Untamed. Seriously I spent close to 10 bucks at Arby's the other night for a crappy nasty meal, 30.00 is cheap!

People want different things out of the game. I really like cornering and lines to be really important. Mxgp fits that bill nicely. Some like crazy jumps. Thats SX. Anybody that says to dont have to preload on alot of the tracks isnt in the top ten laptimes. Thats for sure. Some of the 9 jump rhythms are being done quint, quad, Your not doing that without preload. There s a big section on Houston,I think, 11 or 12 jump rythm thats a quad, quad ,triple or quad.
10/30/2014 8:44am Edited Date/Time 10/30/2014 8:47am
I never said I didn't use preload. I said I don't use it as much. I still use it on various sections to clear some large gaps, but at first I was using it on damn near every jump. I'm no top 10, I don't have THAT much time to dedicate to it. But I am top 1% on a few tracks, top 10% on some more and my worst is top 30%. I think my best position was in ATL on the 250F times I was #46 in the world. Of course I'm sure that's changed between last night and today.

Overall I think it's a decent mix needed. Some things you need to preload, some you scrub, and some you just jump normal. Like I said, learning and knowing the tracks is huge.

I hadn't played any moto games for like 3 months because I was bored with them all, but I actually pulled out Reflex last night and had a good ol' time.

Too bad I have to wait until next year to try this one out...
