christophe pourcel?

Edited Date/Time 10/18/2014 5:39am
does anybody have any info on pourcel? has he got a ride lined up for next year? it would be a terrible shame for the fans if christophe wasnt on the gate come anaheim 1 (and for the outdoors) - i feel that he was building some good momentum during the outdoor season and would have come out swinging at A1!!!

dudes got style for miles- could watch that guy ride dirtbikes all day!!

Nobody knows something... Its sucks big time having a guy with his speed and talent not at the gate next year.. Teams like it those days more to pick up second rate riders and riding around 5 till 12 place.

Good moves by some teams... This guy can win.

i really don't get it? christophe has proven he can run with the big dogs indoors and out, brings a ton of media attention. Put him on a factory level bike and he will be on the box regularly!!!!

hopefully there will be an announcement soon? sure would suck for him to not be out there after a decent showing in the outdoors this year after a long lay off- you would think he would continue to improve given the right machinery

It keeps getting repeated that he brings teams exposure, but is that necessarily true? I mean within "core" mx fans...sure they know who he is. But does the casual fan have any idea who he is? Does he have the same social media presence of other riders? Does he do additional interviews or shoot videos training? I think the sport has gotten to the point that those types of things matter.

You may not be sure, but the industry seems to be siding with hvaughn. There is a reason he didn't get picked up by a team, and it's not for a lack of speed.

I never said mattered more than results. I said that it mattered. As in, it's probably important in a social media age.

you may be right then? not really something i understand- must be an age thing! sure will be a shame if we don't see christophe out there racing in 2015 though, regardless of the reasons behind it!!

seems silly to me that he wouldnt be able to pick up a good ride just because he doesnt post on facebook/instagram/ twitter every 5 minutes!!!

Just wait until the EPIC meltdown in the motocross community when a female gets fast enough to qualify and run 18th-20th place in a regional 250 SX main event.. they will have SO MUCH support thrown at them it will make Danica Patrick jealous.

Watch. Very well might end up being Hannah Hodges.

If you were going to invest in a rider and be living in close quarters with him for the next year, think of all the things that play into that decision. Sure, results are the first filter in the process. But after results, can the parties agree on compensation? Does the rider work well with the team? If the rider is going to be a second rider, will he play well and support the number one rider? Is the rider going to put in the work off the track to justify the ride? Will the rider commit to a minimum amount of testing? Will the rider represent the product and the sponsors well? Will the rider get exposure in various media?

I don't know anything about Pourcel, but I know championship caliber riders don't usually have trouble finding a ride. He is a championship caliber rider. There is something else going on other than results.

definitely agree there must be something going on that we don't know about- it's a shame there aren't any journalists within the sport that could get to the bottom of it though?

regardless of the reasons- i just hope he ends up with a good deal from somewhere. I was hoping he would end up with RV's ride at factory kawi, or at 22, but they got grant- then hoping that maybe mitch would run pourcel on a pro circuit backed 450 effort but that doesn't seem to be materialising either!!

Like you say he IS a championship caliber rider, you would think all the teams would be falling over themselves trying to sign him.

It would suck for the fans if christophe isnt racing in 2015!!!

I don't think that will ever happen. If a chick can race with the bros. why can't a bro race with the chicks?

a lot of people don't think it will happen, and that is why the meltdown will be even more epic. it's inevitable. hannah hodges is on track to be fast enough to qualify for a national on 250s. she won't set the world on fire, but she will qualify. there is also a chick down under, about the same age, who has the speed.

it's not courtney duncan... there's a chick who is a couple years younger who is faster. i cant even remember if she is Oz or Kiwi, but someone will know who i am talking about...

does anyone know if HH is running supermini at the MEC? that is when the snowball will start rolling.

Is it possible that with the future of JS7 yet to be determined there could be a spot at Yosh Suzuki for him? The tendency is to blame CP for his contract issues, but there is circumstance behind a lot of this. I do like the sounds of a technician like CP on a bike like Zook with its handling characteristics and prowess. This could bring new meaning to the term "crafty".

I thought Christophe said he would not ride for anything but top of the line equipment. To me, this means he is looking for a factory ride, or the next best factory supported ride if the brand doesn't have a factory team.

If you look at some of the guys that have been hired for these rides, they don't seem to care about riders being fragile/made of glass. I think generally he is pretty solid in championships so I don't think he's made of glass.

I do not know if he is fragile, all I know is he is not often injured because he keeps it on 2 wheels while battling upfront, which is not the case of many who have been hired to do so.

It ain't just women. Most motorsports love to have a black competitor as well. Whole new demo of fans with dollars to spend.

Back to topic. I know CP has issues but the guy is super fast in supercross. In both his regionals championships he won both fairly easy. I know stroupe was close that one year but CP passed and pulled away at that last race when Stroupe really needed to win.

I do not see JS7 out at all; it was a minor management mistake, not his, no big deal, and that would be a huge loss for the sport, the fans and the promoters. JS7, with KR94 and RD5 are the championship favorites and JS7 will bring a lot to the show, he would rather crashing then settling for 5th and there will always be a quad somewhere.

In all cases, CP with no ride, it sucks big time again. Talent/speed wise (practice lap), the fastest 250 (once again). Start wise, the most holeshots this year (once again?). Crash wise, one of guys who stayed the most on 2 wheels (1 crash? - helped by Webb? Once again?). Pedigree, proven championship caliber. As good as last races? He won 1 moto & got a few podiums.

It is not really fair. I do not want to name any rider who had rides before/instead of him, especially since marketing wise they are not better and result wise it is not necessary to be a rocket scientist, at some point some managers need to stop to be blind, or Japan or simply the US management must ask what the h... they are doing.

If he does not like social media, why the team management & the PR specialist (including sponsor employees) help him out regarding his media planning? Isn't it their job?

Come on, this is getting ridiculous.

There is an decent interview with him in this months MXA

He states that he wants to ride in 2015. But wants good equipment and fair pay or it is a waste of time. Which I see as reasonable. . Otherwise he will retire.

I think he has that, and the hard-to-please rep too, which translates way too often into hard-to-work-with, true or not. No doubt CP is talented, fast as snot & championship material...when things are right, but he definately has his own ideas of when things are right.

There is a big selection of "talented, fast as snot & championsip material" guys out there that will comform more to what American teams want. That might get Pourcel passed over.

Just thought & opinion.

RV money would not make Danica jealous. I think you do not realize what a small time piss ant sport MX is in the big scheme of things. Oh and...Courtney D is the likely one...not HH.

I just read the MXA interview and I would highly recommend reading it. Unfortunately it sounds like he's going to be left out to dry again and once again go off into oblivion.

I don't see either doing so unfortunately. Courtney Duncan was so much faster than all the other women, and her best times still only would have qualified her around 70th.
