you, Matthes and JT made "unthinkable" pretty apparent when it first got posted here.... "anyone with a shred of common sense would know that was not going to happen"... while a lot of us remained hopeful, but extremely sceptical

as for Southwick, i knew about those rumours as well and thought i'd be the one eating crow on that one.... got lucky i guess, win some, you lose some... but really, we're all winning with this one (even though I think GH is not a good MXoN destination)

I don't like the negativity towards this truly awesome news. Our sport is crossing oceans again which is cool. A lotta positive reactions, but the few negative ones are bugging me.

Difference is that this race is after the nationals end and not before they start, so they do have a fighting chance to get more US based riders....there may have to be some start money involved though...

This, is Good!

I'm no great fan of Glen Helen - I've been there many times over many years. Oh, it's a bloody good track - I think it's just me being not a fan of arid environment tracks - hell, I've grown up / lived with them all of my life, so I do crave 'Greenery" . So don't go off in a tizzy and think I'm a 'hater' of Glen Helen, or America.

Good that Bud Feldcamp and his crew get a chance to recoup some of their - what I assume to be- loses from the 2 previous GPs. Even though it was rumoured that he / Glen Helen paid far less than the normal extortionate fees Luongo / Youthstream charges for the right to holding a GP, he must have "taken a bath" on those GPs. And, the rider entries fees were far below what they were for other GPs.

I really thought Luongo wouldn't have given a flying f**k about rewarding Mr Feldcamp for his previous efforts. Maybe he's not the complete arsehole that I, and most others think he is? Nahhh...... he Is a complete arsehole.

It will be interesting to see if a 2017 GP is held in the US - as it may not be at Glen Helen. The MXDN, is held at a different track to the one that a GP is held on, if it's in a country with a GP, generally. Though, in 2006 they had the GP at Matterly Basin, and then the MXDN was held there the same year.

If Luongo / FIM sticks to the 30 rider max for the MXGP class - still 40 rider max for MX2 - and the class is not decimated by injuries like this year, there'll only be openings for a few US based riders in the 450 class, I'd not be surprised for that mongrel Luongo to get the maximum number of riders down to 20 / 23, in the next few years - he's going for the Moto GP level of rider numbers, the stupid prick. He wanted 30 max in MX2, for this year, but it was not passed.

Well to be fair it sounds a lot like a case of RV's knee being much worse than originally thought and him having to race somewhere to fulfill his contractual obligations once they knew he would never be ready for Supercross in time. Nothing I am reading sounds like Ryan was all about the GP idea. It seems like his way to fulfill his contract and retire with the least amount of racing.

I assume it at least costs money and if it's anything like getting a replacement social security card is (government office) then that's at least 2 hours of sitting on your ass waiting. I'm not a patient man and I detest waiting on shit, especially lazy ass people sitting on their ass. It never fails, anytime I have to go to a government office it's a sit and wait game. No one gets in a hurry!! Getting off the soap box now..

REM always has a race on the National or GP track the week after a big event. Unfortunately this year's race after GH saw many people being injured on one tricky jump section. Bryan Friday Hollywood stuntman and fellow Buckeye broke a femur while another friend Mike Monaghan got a nasty broken wrist.

MX realities aside I look forward to being at these races especially the MXdN but my racing is confined (due to back issues) to the REM track so no amateur racing on the big track for me.

The question is now will he be conditioned for that track after a whole year in the mild euro climate. I would think this would be a track that the US guys to do good on since they will have just completed a whole season in the heat. Although I have to say the weather has been awesome the past two years for racing here in the US nationals. Seems like all the races came thru at the "right time" heat wise.

pretty easy and cheap really get your photos taken at Costco(they do passport photos there all the time and they are fast). way cheaper there too, then go to your local townhall/police station fill out the paperwork and pay about $80. it lasts for 10 years and will take about a month to get back. I literally spent a hr to do both

I was planning on being in norcal around this time... Looks like I'll be stopping there first! GP that will likely be RV's last professional race, then drive up the coast to the Redwoods!

Great news....a USGP with the possibility of Herlings stepping up to the 450f class. RV's decision to race the GP's is already paying out huge dividends.

Here you just go to the local police station, show your drivers licens and get your photo taken. Sounds about the same thing bsharkey described. I know what you mean though, applied for a work visa in the states once, visiting the embassy was a bitch.

I love how it's okay to fk the regulars with fee's but somehow justify letting anyone who is fast in the USA race for free or a reduced rate one time.

Doubt they will do that. And if a rider like Dungey, Millsaps, Stewart wants to race, they are not going to take the entry fee money from their own pocket.
