A little over 2 years ago my son had a similar incident. Unfortunately a MX helmet has very little protection for a frontal impact.....this needs to change in my opinion. My son broke his face in three places and was in a coma for 4 days. Thanks to lots of prayers from the mx community he recovered completely and is attending college today.

To the parents, don't give up hope, take it one day at a time. I'll be praying for you!

I ride at rv every time I go to tx. I think it's a great track. Owners are extremely nice and the track is not the problem. I've never had a problem with unsafe riding conditions there.Things happen in this sport what more is there to say? Prayers sent.

Helmets haven't changed since I stuck one on in 74,there are better, but still just a beer cooler with a trick coating.

For the amount of technology that has come since it is a shame the helmet isnt like an airbag that would blow in a millisecond of impact and save my brain.

A friend of mine was with Buddy when they loaded him in the care flight. He said the entire front face portion of the Answer helmet shattered like glass, including the forehead area, and broke completely off.

The track is fine.

It was a particularly rough weekend for the fast guys in north Texas.

First, fast Argentinian pro Rodolfo Fernandez had a nasty get-off at Masterpool's on Saturday and was care flighted out with a broken back.

Then former pro Collin Haney had a big endo on the 120 footer at Underground on Saturday afternoon and ended up in the hospital with broken ribs, shattered collarbone and punctured lung. It was the same jump that ended his pro career two years ago.

The game has changed. I think McGrath hit the nail on the head in his recent interview with Dave Dispain. He thinks that since the Carmichael era, riders are simply pushing them selves much harder than they did in the past, and that has resulted in more injuries in the sport.

I raced yesterday and the track remained excellent all day. The area where Buddy went down was particularly smooth so it's hard to figured out why he swapped out in that spot, other than maybe he pushed too hard on an unfamiliar borrowed bike.

Over training may be contributing in some areas but man these kids are flying the bikes need to be slowed down but this isn't the time nor place for that I'll be preying for the family get well soon .

A 120 ft jump is really not needed to have a challenging track.

The latest last night from Sheila Niday.

"Little tiny bits of improvement for Buddy today. Not enough to say everything will be ok. This morning was a rough one. Brain activity was a huge concern. This evening he was doing a lot more breathing on his own. He does react to people in the room. Please, please keep praying."

The track wasn't to bad. I wasn't riding but my buddies said it was great. He went down in a very high speed section it goes downhill over a turning roller into a jump and he swapped on the roller. My buddy said it was deep there so I assume he got over the front of the bike a little too much. That section is fourth almost if not wide on a 250f for most. I don't know what he was on because I know he was asking if he could borrow a 450 because he didn't have one.

Shelia has set up a couple ways for anyone who would like to help out. From her FB page:

I have set up a place for people to donate to the Wentworth family. http://www.gofundme.com/f8cx3g

Also, if you feel more comfortable, Verticle Adrenalin is accepting donations in Buddys name. Go to www.verticaladrenaline.com, click on donate, then the PayPal icon. When you get to PayPal it will give the option to include special instructions, type Buddy Wentworth in the box. Luke Nievar will make sure they get the money.

Another option would be sending the Wentworth's gift cards to use to help pay for hotels, food, clothes, or whatever they may need. You may send those to our address: 106 Creekside Drive Sanger, TX 76266.

PLEASE SHARE THIS. THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT. THE MOTOFAMILY IS AMAZING.

Please read and keep praying. Buddy is definitely still fighting for his life. Today a device was inserted into his head to help relieve pressure. It seems to be working. His lung seems like it will be okay. It's still early. He is having seizures still. Thank you for all your love support and all the prayers.. The group prayers have been so up lifting..those who have come from various states to lead us in prayer.. Well there are no words to describe what it means to our family and Budman..as you know, he walks in faith and openly shares his belief..the bible he travels with has made it to his bedside.. Thanks to some very special Moto X friends.. You know him well. I must thank you all for your continued private messages. I read them when I can. I love reading my texts..I've have beautiful prayers texted to me. My nights are mostly watching monitors and praying. God Bless You All.. With love.. Darbie

Or the factory in China that made it...along with all the other garbage plastic shell shit...

I pray that this kid gets better...and that there are stricter regulations on these cheaply made helmets!

Dear God, You are intimately aware of the struggle Bud is currently experiencing -- the pain and the despair. You know the desire in everyone's heart for Buddy to be healed of the illness and pain inflicting him. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that You and only You are able to heal Buddy. You are the Creator and Sustainer and we ask that you grant us a cure that leaves no illness or pain. Amen
