Do you really think DeCoster told Tomac not to try his hardest and settle for a tenth?

Has nothing to do with changing strategy, Its just GP guys are just as fast as the americans now. In the last 9 motos not one american has won a single moto in the mxon.

Easy to do when Tomac goes down in the 1st turn, then only comes up 4.4 seconds short of winning the moto.

I cant see why anyone would want to go and risk getting hurt and screwing up training and prep going into sx with the reward so little when compared to your livelihood..

I didnt say Tomac winning would have made any difference in the team competition, I was addressing the idiotic comment from mohammed that in 9 motos no US rider had won because the GP riders were faster, when the fact is last year and this year Tomac was clearly the fastest rider of the weekend.

If AC would have torn his acl (and he might have), he would have missed the start of the MXGP season right? So why does he try so hard and risk it like that? ...Honestly I respect that about the GP riders..at least they lay it all on the line...sans Tomacs moto 2 performance.

Martin broke his foot Dungey got a second and crashed...
Who can you honestly say didn't try their hardest today?

Anyone else feel like I do? After watching some MXGP races throughout the year on tv, it seemed like everyone just rode with a much higher intensity than during a regular mxgp race.

The consistently wins the day routine isn't working anymore. We have to ride like they are riding to win again (Like Tomac in the 2nd moto). Their game has changed and we need to adapt. Those GP riders ride like it's their last race and so do we,if we want that trophy back again. We also need to start leaving our tracks ungroomed for the races, so we adapt to their style of tracks.

It's freakin BS when 10th place guy Fredrick Noreen comes in ahead of Tomac in moto 1....frankly it's damn embarrassing. We couldn't get a damn start all day, what's up with that?

THIS IS NOT A TALENT ISSUE, I still believe that we have the talent to win easily, we just need to lay it on the line.

Of course this is just opinion, if anyone else has any other ideas, i'm open to it.. Tongue Smile
We need to qualify better PERIOD. How many first turn pile ups were at this race? The crash by J Martin and Tomac in qualifying killed us on gate pick. The start on this race was critical - see all pile ups at first turn (was that a poor design first turn?). Our team needs to be healthy, J Martin's injury did not help our team's cause. Although I preferred Canard over Dungey, we had the talent to compete with any team. Team France brought it today - the team dominated. HRC Honda has a hell of a rider next year.

* US's saving grace - Fucking Tomac Moto 3.

Dude...just STOP with the "well we tried" BS!..Have you even watched the last 3 years?

You know damn well we underperformed, to say otherwise, would be saying we lack talent and I for one don't believe that....maybe you do...

We didn't become a great country with those kinds of performances, in competition or war. It's a sad day when it's citizens are willing to lay down like you seem to be willing to do.

This Euro ball licker is blind if he did not see Tomac's moto 3 ride. Not only did he crash, he made a mistake. Had he not made that mistake...... there would be some serious crow to eat.

I mean clearly we should just magically do better right?

I've asked you a number of times what we should change and how should we change it and guess how many great answers I've gotten?

The only strategy that needs to change is to ensure that we have a least one ginger on the team.

what I find really funny is if the USA had of lost cause tomac was pushing for a win and fell when he did nt need to win ,all you guys would be on here we need consistant riders like dungey not ones who could crash , can yous not just accept that the GP guys are every bit as fast as the ama guys .and getting a 3 rd is a good result .you s wont win every year .but you s will be fighting for the win every year
9/28/2014 2:14pm
If you're gonna send Canard you might as well send Josh Grant with some of the theories around here.

Your idea is to simply magically go faster and race to win, like they don't go as fast as they can and like they don't try to win.
Why didn't Roger D think of your great ideas?

Interesting quotes from the TransWorld twitter:

Let's get one thing out: if the US racers can fully admit the GP competitors are equally talented as the AMA racers, everyone should agree.

Every US based racer we talked to, Wilson and Reed too, agreed that the GP riders are at higher level and they've improved over recent years

And by higher level, we mean improved when compared to years past, not in the terms that they are "better," but equal.

Team USA has nothing to be ashamed about. The MXdN has become a race again and not a walk in the park for us.

The start position strategy had as much to.do.with the loss as anything. Made absolutely zero sense to have Martin start inside moto 2 or to have dungey start outside.

this race proves nothing that most didnt already know yes those guys are fast they are legit but it doesnt mean that the 3 guys from france are the best in the world just means they can win on tracks they are used to. Bring them over here and they lose far more often than not. and our starts are what killed us if dungey or tomac got a holeshot they would have been gone.
9/28/2014 2:35pm
I think if that entire weekend is done over 10 times, the USA wins it at least 5. An injury and bad starts did us in, and it's really that simple. Our strategy was fine and I'm pretty sure DeCoster knows what he's doing.
