What is the best part of a ride day to you?

Personally.. I enjoy the little things, from making a breakfast smoothie to my brother and buddies coming to my house to load up before heading out. Bench racing between practices and taking my boots off at the end of the day and sliding on some slippers or sneakers.

Throw riding into the mix and it's easy to see why I'm addicted Wink

I love showing up at the track.. its like ahh look at that track, I'm here. I also really enjoy that first cup of coffee at 4:30 on the morning of the race,( after camping out all night at the track).

I also really like the start of a race, sitting at the gate, waiting for it to drop, engine revving, finger holding the clutch, it drops....bam, that moment.. I love it.

I love it all but especially getting out of my drenching sweaty clothes into some freshies.
Then 6 or 8 of us heading to Applebees to scoop up some 2 for $20.
The exhausted feeling heading home to possibly steal away an hour or so nap if possible makes me feel alive.

I enjoy getting together with my riding buddies. We always have fun. Then I like to pound out as many laps as my old body can take. At the end of the day I like to relax a bit before I leave. Then finish the day off with an ice cold beer or two.

Ha. That starting line adrenaline used to really get me anxious in a bad way. I almost gave up racing because of it. I ended up giving racing another chance a couple of years ago and I don't get too worked up on the starts. I'm terrible at starts and I had a couple of sketchy wrecks at the start a few times.

The race day coffee and morning practice is definitely something I look forward to.

As for a ride day, I really like being the first person to the track and getting to carve my own lines in the freshly groomed track.

I like the feeling after the first few times out on the track when everything starts to flow. Sections get linked together better, I'm finding better lines, and I can tell the lap times are dropping but it doesn't feel like I am riding on the edge. Then you just get into a zone and a rhythm and run lap after lap. Love that feeling.

I love spending the night before getting my bike all ready- clean the throttle tube, check the spokes, change the oil, scotch brite the frame sides, topping off the gas, bolt check, etc..then getting my goggles cleaned, put on some tearoffs, all my gear folded up..

Last time I raced I was loading up the night before and took my bike off the stand and the front tire was flat! Couldn't sleep that whole night worrying if the local dealer would be at the track early enough to change the tube before practice..ugh..

Racing on the weekend gives me something to look forward to all week at work. Unfortunately our race season is coming to a close here in WI- couple races left for me.

I love the prep, making sure my bike is RIGHT. I love the packing, and heading out. Me, the wife and dog on the highway hoping for good weather, I love that my wife enjoys taking photos and taking in the moments of the day. Riding is a constant challenge because i'm always torn between having fun and meeting my personal expectations. Friends that are boarder line drunks having beers and talking shit at the end of the day is golden.

The only bad part is thinking of the day you return to work to pay for it all again, but, really I should smile that first day back looking forward to that next ride!

Moto to me is a blessing, I have scratched and clawed to continue to experience it.

I love the feeling of giving the bikes one last once over the night before in the garage and knowing that everything is as good as its ever going to be. I really love taking one last look behind as I shut the light off in the garage and walk in the house and seeing the bikes, gear, gas, and toolbox sitting there quiet, and clean, almost like they are resting up for the next day just like I am about to.

On a track day I love it all, from being the first one there and feeling the crisp, quiet air with only the sounds of birds, maybe a dozer or watertruck all the way to the end of the day when the bikes are all loaded, your changed into some fresh clothes, and sitting under a tree, or around a truck with a few cold beverages chatting about the days ride with a few good friends who you may only see at the track or on a special occasion. Its all just a part of what makes this sport the best sport ever!

Nailing a really good line on a really difficult/challenging part of the track or FINALLY getting the timing "just-right" on a really difficult combo.

Watching a friend pull off the track with that look..."satisfaction".

For me when I get to the track the first 2-3 times out on the track sucks, the lines, the dirt, track condition, my time off the bike. Sucks.
But my favorite time is between the 2-3 sucky few and and the last 2-3 when I'm just cruising because I'm tired. That time when I have figured out the lines, and shaken off the rustiness, and everything is flowing. Awesomeness!!!

For me the mornings are the best. I love being at the track early in the morning; the peacefulness, hearing the hum of the generators, the clacking of a dozers tracks, the smell of coffee and pre-mix in the air...ah I love it!

I enjoy hearing the first practice go out while I'm tucked in my bed in the trailer. Just knowing those good samaritans are picking up all the muck off the track so i won't have to wash mine for 30min after i go out warms my heart. Wink

I love all of the above, but I really like walking the track after a race or practice with my buddies. looking at how rough the track has gotten and benchracing with them like ....."this is where I stuffed your butt!"....hahaha, love that one lap walk with 2 beers and friends is priceless to me.

Finding out I left my helmet, or brought my daughters riding pants. That's always cool!
