Just wondering why the have done two GP in Brazil, I think it would be call if they brought one of these to USA, and I'm sure they'd get some American wildcard entries.

Yes and it bombed. Low attendance and the only legit American rider was Alessi.

The riders have proven they don't want to race it. The spectators have proven they don't want to watch it. The track promoters don't want to lose a couple hundred grand. The teams don't want to pay thousands for their riders to enter. Yes the gp's are that corrupt and broken.

I believe it was 2 years and the only high profile American rider to show up was Alessi the first year.

you would think so wouldnt you? but history tells us different- only alessi and townley showed up at the glen helen gp, and going further back only windham showed up at the 99 usgp at budds creek (even after everts called all the top us riders out)

its a shame really as it could make the event an even better spectacle, but the US fans and the top US riders dont seem to be bothered about the USGP, hence why there is no USGP anymore! will we see one if rv does gps next year? i wouldnt bet against it!

The last USGP that had a good turnout of American riders was 94 at Budds Creek. Emig, Dowd , Stanton, I think Lamson ? Not sure but poor attendance must have doomed it because there's only been 3 USGPs since.

Allessi was definately legit and on form then,he went 2-4 then the following week he went 4-1 at the opening AMA round at Hangtown

I went and the racing was so good, but without more US riders many fans stayed away

We have 17 rounds of SX, plus the MEC. And twelve rounds of outdoor Nationals. And we know who all the racers are.
That's tough competition for a GP round.

That said, I went to the recent USGP at Glen Helen and it was awesome. I got to see the legendary Cairoli in action!

It was really expensive to go to as a fan, and Glen Helen tried their best...it was a great race, I went both years....I think we had a better rider turnout than Brazil, ha!

I don't blame the American riders not turning up, they have a long enough season without the added pressure of a race that doesn't really count . That said if the Usgp was part of the nationals or one of the nationals was part of the GP'S that might work?

I'm fine with no round in the states, they are clearly not interested, neither riders or the fans. The GPs are not bro enough. Would be even more fine if they kept all the rounds in Europe.

17 Supercross races.. 12 outdoors.. 1 MXDN and 1 Monster Cup.. maybe 2-3 Europe races for an American.. When I was a kid I probably raced 50 times a year.. We raced almost every weekend, sometimes Saturday and Sunday and did some fair races during the week in the summer time. Granted our travel time was within 8 hours of home but come on.

If Ginger does race them next year a GP in the states will get 20K people easy.....

Seems like a USGP is a perfect opportunity for some of the tracks that want a national but can't get one or are on the waiting list. Also, how about some if the historical tracks like Unadilla, Steel City, Southwick or Gatorback. I have a feeling these venues would get a decent turnout.

Yeah and these guys did the same when they were kids too. Now they're not just racing weekends, they're training literally every single day. Everything in their lives has to do with racing. They eat right, sleep right, train right, they get no break at all. Imagine if you're job consumed literally every day of your life for 15+ years. We bash these guys all the time over stuff like this. Here's the thing, we mostly work 40 hours a week. They work 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Bring it to highpoint. People like a good reason to fill the cooler up and come outta the woods around here..

You're sure? Crossing your fingers and hoping didn't work out too well the last time they came to Glen Helen.

Unfortunately, SteelCity is shutdown...

That's a bummer, did not know, I thought Daryn Durham just posted sones pics on instagram and it still looked pretty sweet. But Southwick is closed at least temporary also.

Thing is, they won't get a good turn out. Guys like you and me and the fans who constantly follow this sport would show up but the average fan who just tunes in every now and then wouldn't. I know about 50+ people who have been going to high point and steel city for the past 10 years but never actually watch a race on TV let alone follow the sport. Fact is, a lot of casual fans don't even know the GP's exist. And casual fans are the majority.

maybe the 2000k entry fee for the GP's? No purse money here? or there... remember the last GP at Glen Helen somebody put up their own money if an American won? might have been a bonus for top american just to get riders to show up.

Back when the US riders would take it to the Euro's...Carlsbad USGP!

What would make it really cool is if they combined it to be an AMA national and MXGP.

Myself and 30 other people had a great time at both Glen Helen USGP'S

Can't imagine who wouldn't want to lose money given the chance.
