First of all you cannot be a truck chief on two teams, that is not how you spell Johnny Sauter and I happen to be the truck chief of the 88 Menards Toyota Tundra for Matt Crafton. So before you go throwing names out there be sure you know what you are talking about. When trying to voice your opinion, please do not use our team's name, drivers names, or mine for that matter (since you said you know me).

I would be surprised if we ever hear from motoX85 ever again. Thanks for coming in here and clearing that up. I wish it was under different circumstances, but welcome to the forum.
MotoX85 is practicing his back pedaling with his head buried in the sand.

You don't say? I think that's kind of obvious. My point is I didn't realize we had this many Sprint Car authorities riding motocross here at Vital.

Up till this point the only person I was aware that actually races Sprint and has knowledge of being in the driver seat and car reaction is Racer92. I'm pretty certain if this was a boating accident, everyone here would be a captain of some sort. Google makes everyone an authority to provide a professional opinion on anything.

I've raced all kinds of cars including a 410 winged sprint car. I didn't think I needed to continually let everyone know about it, but when you see some doofuses talking out their ass you kind of have to set them straight. Believe it or not, lots of guys ride motorcycles and still allow themselves to race other vehicles also.

Besides you sound like a douche if your constantly trying to prove your cool by letting everyone know all about your other racing exploits. Believe it or not but I know two guys that have ran and finished all 500 miles of the Indy 500 and have also posted on this site. They didn't preface the post with anything about racing cars though.

After reading through 8 pages and having to read the idiotic posts of MotoX85, this post MADE IT ALL worth it.

For what it's worth, I originally thought Tony tried to roost him as he past by. But not having a clue about these cars or how they react, I'm 100% positive (in my own head), that Tony did everything he could to NOT hit Kevin. With the comments from a few guys that really DO know WTF they're talking about, it's pretty obvious to me that I miss judged the accident when I first watched it.

Sorry if has been posted. Some eyewitness comments (followed by about 10 pages of pure idiocy.) Terrible situation for everyone.

I completely understand what you're saying and I realize there are other "professional" athletes that post here, automotive or otherwise. My only issue is with the ones that have never stepped in a sprint car and speaking as if they know exactly WTF they are talking about.

Besides that, what's with all the one post wonders signing up to throw their two cents in on a non-mx topic. Yes, it's to bash X85, we get it, it's fucking over, he's gone from the thread. Don't feel the need to make a single post just to bash someone. Tony had rightful intent because he was directly referred too and cleared the air.

Most of these dudes will never post another thing on this board so if they didnt' sign up to talk moto as their intention, then I could give a shit on what they have to say. Hopefully some of these lame ducks get put out to pasture where they belong.

Regarding the thread title, what is the MX Comparison? Motocross racers are intentionally running over down riders again?

It is a good man that can realize and then acknowledge his previous conclusions were in error, as he learns more.

I honestly don't think you do know how they work. The cars never touched each other the wreck that you are previusly talking about had nothing to do with the two drivers as individuals it was a racing accident just like this one was. The volatile history you are talking about isn't like they have personal grudges which each other.

I hear ya and agree. I am moto to the core, but with age comes a cage. But I will always ride. I just cant get over people thinking TS intentionally did this. That's just insane. He can be short tempered, but like someone else said and I concur, a sprint car is a weapon and nothing to goof around with. Tony knows when to act out and when not to and I'm not convinced he even knew Kevin spinning into the wall was his fault therefore would have never been looking for someone to be comming after him. If he didn't know, how could he be trying to scare him. He wouldn't.

And someone else asked about radios and got the answer but I will add that what you hear is the voice of an official. They will tell you when the yellow flag comes out and where it is so you can avoid getting into the mess if possible. What they don't do is get personal and tell you anything else. Just yellow and location and then line up info to go back green. Tony would have never been told the accident involved him or that a person was on the track and to avoid them. Once everyone gets slowed down they quit looking at the track and start looking to get cars in the right order to go green. Its illegal to have 1 or 2 way communication with your crew in any of the sprint car orgs. Iv'e raced with (USAC and ASCS).

Fair enough. We can all agree that not all the information is available to the public. Those that do have all the available information, so far, are concluding this an accident.

This thread is getting straight up creepy. Lets review shale we:

1. Motox85 takes the devils advocate opinion way to far and causes a huge frenzy even Lenny would be proud of.
2. Motox85 is all but driven off the forum and after endurong a bashing for the ages someone makes a vague thread toward him
3. A crew chief comes out of nowhere and continues the bashing, and jump starts the thread yet again
4. Motox85 creates a new account and is now rider564, and the bashing and confusion continues.

It's a forum guys, lets chill out a bit maybe? Things are getting a little weird here.Dry

Man can someone just ban motox85/rider564?? like ban his IP from this website? this guy is like the king of being an idiot but thinking everything he is saying is making him sound intelligent

This is a horrible Accident. If any of you have ever driven which I doubt or maybe sit in a wing sprint car you would know that the panel on the right side of the wing can block out an entire car so a person in a black suit and helmet standing in the track is all but impossible to see. If you notice the 45 car in the video that is directly in front of Tony almost hit him and with Tony being behind the 45 car it made Tony time to see him reduced even more. I am not pointing blame at Kevin nor Tony because it was a accident and neither is to blame. The officials who allow the races to get out of the cars and walk into the racing surface while cars are still moving at anywhere between 35 to 45 mph are the ones who really need the finger pointed at them.

To compare a MX,SX,AX rider to a sprint car driver is like comparing a apple to a waffle there is no comparison. They are completely different. I agree that sometimes the riders take it to the pits as do sometimes the sprint car drivers. I have seen bikes launched into other riders both with riders on the bike being launched and the bike itself being ghost ridden into other riders. People make mistake in the heat of the moment and do stupid things luckily for the sports of SX,MX,AX no one has lost there lives when this has happened.

To say that Tony is a ASS it is obvious that you do not personally know him or have ever had a conversation with him. If you did know him personally or have ever had a conversation with him you would know that he is in no shape form or fashion an ass. It seems to me that in this day and age there are a lot of fans that think a PERSON / athlete is a ASS because they didn't get what they want out of them or because they aren't sociable enough. Maybe if more fans would admire the PERSON / athlete for the ability the have to be great at the sport we enjoy to watch instead of feeling that because we pay for a ticket or for a T shirt that the PERSON / athlete owes them something that PERSON / athlete would be more open to socializing with the fans.

Yes I do personally know him and see him a few times a month. I have taken people who have said to me how big of an ass he was and they have set and talked with him and they leave saying they was wrong. So before we go calling people names or pointing fingers maybe we should take a look in the mirror and then we would really see who the ASS is. I also know the Ward family so my judgement of the accident is not biased towards one person. Kevin put his self in a bad situation that had a horrible result. This tragic accident has changed the lives of two families directly and multiple people indirectly. With that being said why compare it to anything? Who are we to put a comparison on how someone lost there life and how another persons life was changed forever. Why not take that time to send or post a message to both families?

FORZA: Weird how everyone else avoided him. Also funny how he gassed it right by the kid. Mistake by both but Ward died for his mistake. If he wants Tony can race next week. The way you turn those cars to the left fast is by smacking the gas to make the car rotate. If you jerk the wheel to the left without giving the car gas it will not turn fast and will go straight for a short distance.

Racerfan is correct. You can't see jack on the right side and only have limited view straight ahead.

I bet most of the people commenting in this thread have not even Sat in a sprint car let alone driven one.
8/12/2014 2:53am
C'mon, give it a rest everyone. Leave all the bickering for a less important subject, like a rider who tests positive for Adderall.

Someone died here. Someone else has to live with the fact that he had a hand in that. If that's not a subject that implies a certain amount of rhetorical restraint, I don't know what does.

You can hear the motor the car slides sideways from burning out right before he hits him. I heard it was an accident, after watching the video, he should be charged, no question. How this is being called an accident is a farce.

Obvious to you. What is your in experience racing on dirt? 1/4s, karts, Micros, Midgets...full size sprint cars? Anything?

There is no way for anyone to make any sort of meaningful conclusion about what likely happened if they have no experience and do not understand how these cars work, what the environment is like, what you can see out of the drivers compartment, what it is like on a high bank dirt track and night, etc.

From the video, is appears Tony reacts about the time the front of his car gets to Ward. At that point, Tony gases it and tries to pitch the rear out of the way (on a tacky track like that...they are probably running close to 20" of stagger...if you even know what that means.)....but it was too late.

It has also been reported that the driver of the 45 car stated that he barely saw the guy at the last instant. You can also see Ward reversing and running back up the track at the last instant after he realizes he is too far down the track. The 45 car was probably only 5 feet from the bottom of the track...and Wad is nearly 2/3 of the way onto the track...leaving cars very little room to work with.

There is also the question of motive. Have you watched the previous lap? Tony (14) passes Ward (13), and does not even appear to touch him. The first contact was Wards right rear into the wall. When Wards car comes to a stop the right rear is down from hitting the wall. When you tap someones left front with your right rear, your car will jump up the track. Tony's car smoothly exited the corner. The front of Tony's care does no jump up the track, meaning Tony did not perceive any contact. To Tony...a guy crashed behind him. Tony would thus have no reason to even expect that the 13 driver would be so pissed at him. People like to point to Tony having a temper in the past, but generally there is some event where a person feels wronged to get them angry. What motivation would Tony have had for trying to teach Ward a lesson...or scare him? It is not even reasonable for Tony to expect Wart to be out of the car and that far down on the track.

Looks to me like a hot head kid with an attitude who was bent about getting passed by the big star. He exhibited no self control, let his emotions get to him, and made a series of very bad decisions, which cost him his life.
Racing on dirt experience with Dirtbike only.

You didn't convince me of anything, however well spoken your response was. I think the video says it all and until I can see the Go Pro footage and other evidence that supports no wrong doing, I will not take anything the Leo says as fact.

I wonder how far ahead these guys look up the track while racing. I'm sure there is a clear and straight line of sight to the corners while approaching them in the straights....

I'm also quite certain that these cars steer with the steering wheel at low speeds, out of the gas, while they are not drifting... Like under a caution...

God Almighty! Can we give this a rest? The idiocy on some of these posts are breathtaking even for me.Pinch

Horrible accident, but no matter what a jackhat Tony Stewart has exibited himself to be...apparently he's not a cold blooded murderer, much to the chagrin of some here. It's like a guy wandering out on Loop 610 in Houston at night wearing black clothing. Some cars will see him in time to miss him...but sooner or later, one won't. Bad deal, and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the deceased...and to Tony as well, but it's another example of bad stuff happening. No fault at all...except on side of the deceased. Sorry.

If you have no experience, how can you be sure of anything? If you have ever seen a sprint NOT at speed you would understand. Although i have never driven one, i am at the track almost every saturday crewing for a friend where sprints run just about every other week. I'm not "in the know" but much more than someone that sits in the stands once in a while.

For the guys with actual experience, please correct me if I'm wrong but what it looks like to me is imagine riding your bike through crowded pits with the idle set way too high, holding on with your left hand while getting head shake. It looks like they are easier to drive at speed than under caution

They are way easier to drive at speed than under caution. Trying to turn a sprint car at a slow speed is like trying to turn a jet ski without the motor running on the jet ski. You have to give the car gas to turn it quickly like you would a jet ski.

So the most difficult thing about Sprint Car racing is getting through the pits and loading the car on the trail in a controlled and safe manner after the race is over?

This guy is in the know and we share the same exact view of the situation.

I think this guy said it best.

LoudLove wrote: "A civil trial, unlike criminal court, does not provide guilty/not guilty verdicts; levels of fault can be attributed to one or both parties. Most posts assume Stewart did not see Ward and did not intentionally move up the track. However, most people would also agree that it's not outside the realm of possibility that Stewart took an aggressive stance with his vehicle. And that's enough to launch both a criminal investigation and civil trial, regardless of how sprint cars are driven or their visibility."
