My best moto memories are from that first race in 85. I had a O'neal hoody and hat on and a old SLR camera around my neck. I was walking by the vendor row and there was a trailer with a French guy selling O'neal stuff. He called me over and asked me if I was a photographer and did I work for O'neal. I laughed and said no just like O'neal products and I shoot photos for myself. When he realized I was an American he became even more interested. Asked a bunch a questions about America. He said he really wanted to go some day. I went on my way and I didn't see him the rest of the day until right after the last moto. He saw me and yelled for me to come over. We were at the trophy presentation and there were so many people there but he had a credential. He said come with me and I will get you in the front and you can take pictures. I told him I already shot all my film. He said come on and just act like your taking pictures. He got me right up in the front. I was blown away that I was standing there in front. I'm trying to remember who was on the stand. I think David Thorpe won. I think Andrea Mahlerbe was second and our boy Danny "Magoo" Chandler was third. Anyway I acted like I was taking pictures for the whole ceremony. Got covered in champain. I wish I had some extra film that day. At least I have the memories.
Everything right now is pure speculation so why get all worked up about it. You may not agree with when or why they announce things, but that's just the way it is. I hear there's a race this weekend...

I guess an announcement will be made one way or another next month about RV either going to
Europe of retiring.
The last time I was there, was in 2012, just after the MXDN at Lommel.
Houses are right at the bottom of the course - many will remember the stone wall / plywood covered stone wall uphill Right Hander - there are houses just across the road there now. And, just after the tiny bridge / tunnel, there is a Kindergarten on the very outside of what was a fast LH kink. And, there are many other 'encroachments' on the course. They are the sorts of things that make it Very difficult to get a GP there again.
That / those, and the fact that it's like comparing Real Roads Racing - eg:, Irish Road Racing / IOM TT to current Moto GP level tracks, in terms of safety, add up mightily against it's return. Mind you, it was crazily dangerous in the 60s and 70s , 80s, 90s there - 500 GP bikes, were Never slow at that joint, and trees were just as hard then, as they are now. And, the drop down into the Battlements / Parapits to the LH side of the main uphill, with it's 3 (or 4?) jumps, is fearfully dangerous no matter what sort of bike you are on. I don't know if the sport / teams would take the risks associated with the course.
I wish they would. Actually, what could make it safer, is if it were held as a 40 minute plus 2 lap format - where tactics came into play, and it was less that an outright sprint. It's a crime that GPs have gone to the US 30 plus 2 format, from last years 35 plus 2. In an age where bikes can be so well built, and riders have so much training info / back up, the sport is ever 'dumbed down'. Shit, we've SX, for the "peanut gallery" to get all hyped up about, haven't we?...................
You read rumours that the locals want the race back / the locals Never want the race back. That the 'EnviroNazis' will never let it back - yet those same pricks that so care for the environment, have never rehabilitated the track - sections still exist, with rain ruts down them - so much for careing about the parkland. Having a race at The Citadel - well, for you Yanks, it's something like having a race at the White House, or your Arlington National War Cemetary. There's an example of a part of the objections by some at a race being held there again.
Personally, done properly, ,by, say, Eric Geboers, as he has done previously, it could be the best thing to happen to the GPs in years, for a GP to be at Namur again. But, it could be disasterous,
If you ever get a chance to go to Belgium, get your arse to Namur. Have a walk around what's left of the course, and be amazed at it's grandeur and crazieness. Whilst you're there, check out the sand tracks of Belgium amd The Netherlands, and see what Motocross can be, without SX influences being too far in the forefront.
It's a heck of a World out there - go visit it.

As for RV to The World Championships - I'd love to see it happen, but very much doubt it. I suspect MX Geoff, Luongos' Mouthpiece / Sycophantic Supporter (and, employee), is just pushing the 'rumour' for all it's worth, on behalf of that mongrel, Luongo.
The best come and the best go. It's the circle of life and nothing can stop it.
When he's good and ready he'll let his future be known to all but since, at no point, has he said for people to stand by for an announcement, it's a little unfair for people to criticise him for delaying it.
He can do whatever he damned well pleases.
But IF (and I say IF) that is going to happen then thats quite cool!

Kawasaki Europe Racing Manager "Steve Guttridge" was not present at Lommel because he was in Japan to discuss options and the future of Villopoto
The decision has to come from Japan because Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which is responsible for the American race budget, has given the green light for a team change
It remains to be seen if Villopoto moved to the World Championship" motocrossplanet
