I'm not a huge fan, but I have to give it up for the hustle that Josh put on the field at GH in moto 1. His style & line choices all over the track were awesome. I'm sure Coy & the JGR guys were smiling.

I didn't get to watch it or read about it. Did he pull away and dominate, did all the usual heavy hitters crash?

I'm pumped he won! I've been a fan since the first time I saw him ride at Hangtown (his first pro race I believe) and he was smashing the 125 class, including Bubba.

Anybody who has that kind of talent on a bike has my respect (to a certain level!)

Got the Holey but was just perfect pretty much.

Noticeably better lines than everyone too. He was cutting down and staying wide of all the shit the whole moto.

Bummer he crashed 2nd moto. Will be interesting to see how he goes the rest of the season, he's riding for a ride I guess?

Yeah, Crush...I'd say he's riding for a ride at this point. He's proven to be pretty fragile, and I'm sure not all they hoped he'd be for the team, but I think Coy likes him, so he's given him multiple opportunities. Hope he keeps riding like he did at GH. Grant's always been fast...but seems to suffer a little from brain fade.

Roczen was closing at the end, but Josh was going all-out to keep him behind.

This was a "moment" on the last lap where it almost went all wrong.

That was an awesome ride. Roczen closed the gap to like 3 seconds about midway through the moto and Grant answered and pretty much kept it there till those few mistakes at the end. Glad he was able to hang on.

Wow!

I heard him saying an interview, that he hoped to get a lot of podiums this year. I guess he wasn't kidding!

I hope that guy had a huge winning bonus!

He's always been good outdoors... no surprise he did so good at his home track. If he can just stay 100% healthy he could be a top 5 guy.

I was more impressed on his second moto.

Watching the vid last night it was one of many moments for both of them on the last couple laps!! They were pushing!

Grant is good to watch ride tho, he was probably the cleanest in and out of shoei/st helens bottom turns. Perfect!

Grant is pure class, simple as that. Raw speed and style for days. I like his attitude to racing and I hope he keeps it up.

nrly 30, JUST off an injury, doubted on fitness, WAXED THE LOT. the milky bars were on him in moto 1.

Was it grant a few years ago that was battling with alessi and grant came completely off the bike and was dragging his body on the ground then somehow kept his bike upright and ended up remounting, holding on to the bike and getting back on and held on to the Moto? Someone help me out on this one if I'm mistaken.

Sweet win for sure. I like the mouths open in the back.

When RV made that last lap pass on RD at Steel City, didn't Grant tweet something smart about Dungey choking? Well yesterday he was this close to becoming a victim.

I figured Grant would lead moto 1 for a while -- well, that was one of my theories -- but I also thought he'd get run down by RD & JS. That didn't happen...

Wonder what he did in the pits the 2nd moto, we saw him pull off the track, and then right back on without missing a beat, what could they have fixed in less than 2 seconds ? Just curious

Only things I can think is bump his front tire back straight or bend a brake or shifter pedal back in real quick. Or wipe mud off the grips. It was a quick trip though so that's a little odd.

Last to 15th in the 2nd moto. I'm more impressed with that than the outright win. Good luck to him this year!

Jermey Albrecht said Grant did pull in to straighten the front end after the sand whoop crash. He also said that Grant caught up to 15th and stalled losing 5 more spots and still fought back to 15th in the end.

... review that slow mo clip of Grant accelerating out of the first turn, just after the start. GL was riveted and for good reason.

I was impressed at how fast it looked on TV. Normally, we lose a lot of the speed and roughness of the track on the broadcast, but I watched it last night, and holy shit they were flying.

I've always been a huge Josh Grant fan. Just something about him. He has been through so much and just keeps battling. He has some of the rawest talent I've ever seen. His results have been so so last few years so I was rooting for him so bad first moto. He just needs to learn to keep it off the ground but that's easier said then done.

The only problem is that there are two motos. Grant has never been consistent. I felt like Kenny and Dungey weren't worried about Grant after the first moto. Kenny was looking forward to the next moto because he knew he had the speed and Dungey was congratulating Josh. They didn't seem worried. It's too bad because he can haul ass.

Points are paid per Moto. To say the KTM boys weren't worried is not true because they just got beat by an "also ran" on inferior equipment!

You don't think they were wondering why they didn't track him down and pass him (like they've done so many times)? Did they have the right set up? Is the Yamaha that good now? Lol

Pretty sure the JGR Yamahas are factory supported and the JGR team has more resources to put into their bikes than probably ANY other team, so im not sure why anyone would assume he's on "inferior equipment" he did put on an awesome ride though and has always shown flashes of speed to match/beat anyone, seems being consistent in one weekend let alone through a season will be a challenge for him. I doubted the KTM crew was worried, they were both the riders to beat for the most part and dungey is going to be champ for sure unless he has some crazy bad luck.

I don't think Roczen or Dungey were worried. I think they both know Grant's history of inconsistent motos. I think they would have been more surprised if he won the second moto.

Roczen reeled Josh in and had a pretty good feel for what to do in the second moto.

So KR was like, "I'm just gonna let Grant win this one because I won't need those extra 3 points and I like his arm tats. Hmmm, I wonder if I'd look that cool wearing a sleeveless jers"-BAM...checkered flag.

Hahaha

He would've beat him if he could have.
