Using my iphone to stream to my 55 inch tv via Apple TV. I bet it's clearer than your SD TV pic. Ridiculous in this day they'd broadcast anything in SD. JUst pay $99 for the Apple TV box.

Tommy, my cable provider added MavTV in HD just last week! or i would of been in the same boat. I was pretty excited about that, was dreading watching in SD.

Lucky! That was bad. I had to stand I front of my tv to see the scroll.

Dish has Mav tv in HD, also hooking up my laptop to my tv for the 2nd motos looks pretty good as well.

HD all 4 motos via NBC Sports Live Extra on the laptop. Couple of blips but no loss in coverage and not a complaint. Now I'm watching hockey on there now.

Disappointing coverage for such a great race. The action was awesome but watching upconverted SD on MAVTV with DirecTV is such a disappointment, the last three years were getting better every year with the coverage and now it requires you to have use an app and multiple devices just to watch without major delays and with degraded quality...

One step forward and three steps back, with the migration to UltraHD 4K now starting I find it hard to believe that anything being shot in HD is not fully broadcast in full res not to mention the massive delay for the second motos. I understand the desire to make the viewing more accessible to more people with additional platforms but? This feels like the change from 2 strokes to 4 strokes, sure there are still a few 2 strokes (broadcast television) made but you will need to migrate to a 4 stroke (paytv, download to own) if you want to be competitive.

Sorry to rant, just feels like the Speed coverage from the last few years or the Fox Sports Supercross coverage from this year was moving in the right direction, today not so much...

I couldn't read the ticker or the bike numbers, too fuzzy for SD.
Felt like I was watching a BobbyM video from 1985!

I hear ya, but honestly it's just a thing of what more people are interested in. It'd be great if Fox Sports 1 did all the Supercross rounds and all the nationals but Supercross has more going for it as far as time frame. It starts at the beginning of January when football is ending. It's run on a saturday night when virtually no other "big" sports that Fox Sports 1 broadcasts is playing and it also only takes 3 hours to do the whole show. The nationals on the other hand are on a Saturday afternoon in spring and summer when baseball, which is what they pay the most to show, is in full swing and always play Saturday afternoons. Not to mention it takes 4 hours to show all 4 motos. That virtually eliminates Fox Sports 1.

I honestly believe they have a great deal with NBC Sports. It's on most basic or middle tiers of cable in HD or in a cheap sports package. I absolutely doubt there's any cable or satellite company in the country it's simply not available on. The only 450 2nd Moto that will be shown on a delay all year has already been shown!! It got delayed for a hockey game, which NBC pays way more to show and is way more popular than MX. The rest of the year for 450s, no one in the states will need a login to watch live on an app, just turn to the channel on the TV. I don't see how it's that bad.

Anything technical these days should adhere to the policy of "Don't make me think". The consumer should be able to click on the obvious/intuitive button and have what they are after. Motocross is TWO motos. Having to read through a bunch of instructions, jump through separate logons/permissions/websites is counter productive to promoting Motocross and short sighted.

Not having to wait 7 months for crappy coverage on Wide World of Sports is a nice step forward. But, show me one broadcast of anything that accepts the standard of, "Be grateful, this is way better than was available in 1973".

I know what you're saying but I wouldn't judge it based off of this weekend. They were put in a bad spot because of the hockey game not allowing the 2nd motos to be live on TV so it made everyone scramble to try to watch the stream live. NBC Sports has to protect their content to people that pay for their channel. It's business.

Once again, from here on out, all you have to do is change the channel on your TV once after the first motos or go from your computer to the TV after the first moto. It's not that difficult.

comparing the media coverage of the superbowl to a motocross race is like comparing, well...yourself to a jackoff (the jackoff is the superbowl in this comparison).

you sound like a 5th grader...

I agree.
I too was very disappointed to see the first moto's in SD stretch-o-vision.

I have DirecTV and everything I watch is HD. So I was very surprised when the race wasn't. I forgot just how shitty SD looks.
I could hardly make out the scrolling names at the top. But it was nice to see the second moto's in HD. This really does seem to be a step backwards. Hopefully it won't be this way all year.

I didn't even realize I had an SD channel until the race started.

What this guy said. First everyone was crying because they only showed the second moto. Then it was "why can't they show practice?" After that people were mad about the quality of the practice stream. Them came along the whole streaming both motos online. And now we have every moto on TV and all this all happen in just a few years. This is a working progress, so stop all of yalls bitching and just be happy we are able to see all 4 motos beside what it use to be like on espn!

Call direct TV and demand Mav tv in HD, because it looked flawless on dish. I thought the coverage was good, I know we had to watch the 2nd moto live online but Hockey gets a lot more viewers, its the way it goes.

Mav Tv has been around for a few years now, and IMO, that's on Direct Tv. Why do they carry a channel thats available in HD, but only broadcast it in SD? Probably the same reason why they don't have the Pac12 network and other sports networks, and why I choose dish.
