DC...Another way to promote our sport. How about an AMA version of the MXGP video game or it's equivalent?

Edited Date/Time 5/14/2014 7:21am
A plea to Davey Coombs. Milestone's MXGP video game has it all. Real riders, Real MX1 and MX2 teams, real bikes, every logo spot on right down to TC222's boots, full points series, extremely true realistic replica tracks, great career mode, realistic speed, full race replays. It is truly authentic to the world of MXGP. We haven't had anything like this for the AMA since when EA Sports made their Supercross games way back in 2000. Nearly 15 years ago! Yes, the physics in MXGP need a bit of work but you have to brake and use tons of throttle control unlike most games. What it lacks in physics it makes up in every other regard.

It would really help promote the sport if we had an AMA version of this kind of game where it is completely authentic like all the other sports have? Sports video games are huge. MXGP is selling really well in Europe. An authentic AMA MX/SX game with a full license would do really well. Yes, we are a small sport but their is a demographic for this. Look at the FB page last year wanting EA to do an AMA game. It had over 20,000 likes. Nordic is making Supercross this year but we need replica AMA tracks, especially the motocross ones. The replica tracks in MXGP are unreal.

I feel MXGP is the best motocross console game we have ever seen. now we need an AMA equivalent. Maybe Nordic could be the ones to do it. ??

This made so much sense. Ramrod posted this on the Game Forum.

"I agree that this is the best "motocross" game to date for the console because of its authenticity."

"Paging DC, thank me later but imagine if they made a mxgp game version of the us nationals? Would be huge. Great exposure for the riders, teams, sponsors, and the series. Might even boost tv viewership. I watched valkenswaard last weekend and knew what was going on, it was sick!"

Agreed, Ramrod!

So many people get into sports thru video games. That is how I got into hockey. Thru NHL94. This could totally help our sport and helping to grow the greatest sport in the world is never a bad thing.

MXGP is by far the best mx game I ever played. Milestone did a great job with all the real teams, riders, tracks and series. The replay is amazing. I am already looking forward to the improvements milestone will do for next years MXGP game. 8 stars out of 10.

I just ordered a copy off of eBay. I've heard mixed reviews, but based off the gameplay I've watched it looks much better than MUD. I'm excited to play it. I don't even care if it's not as good as Reflex, I'm ready for something new.

I haven't played it, but MXGP looks like Bike-On-A-Stick.

IMO the only way to play MXGP is first person view. It is very realistic. Most of the other mx games that have been out through the years you cannot play first person view. The sound could certainly be better but the graphics and gameplay are top notch.

In a nutshell, the replica tracks and pretty bikes seem to mask the ho-hum boring physics.

Maybe DC could actually pay the riders royalties for using their image too, unlike the other one.

Do they sell mxgp here?
5/11/2014 7:32am
Jemcee...

you can re-map it however you want. So you can make it dual stick or one stick. Every control is re-mappable!

It is available on Ebay for PS3 (which is region free) or on PC thru Steam.

To those who think it is a waste of time you should realize that sports video games are a huge market and it would help to promote the sport a lot.

I think the new Phoenix developers making MVA Supercross really get it and will make a great game, especially given time.

Yes, Reflex and Alive physics are a bit better than MXGP but having realistic replica tracks goes a LONG ways in making a game good. Reflex has over exaggerated wide tracks, jumps too long, horrible collision detection, touchy controls, not very realistic outdoor tracks and Alive's SX tracks are too short, a decided lack of tracks and its outdoor tracks are abysmal due to too many jumps everywhere (other than the excellent JS7 Compound tracks.) And neither can hold a candle to MXGP's authenticity.

To me, all the great sim/arcade physics in the world mean nothing if you are racing on unrealistic tracks that are either scaled 3x too big or are littered with unrealistic jumps everywhere.

I think the new MVA Supercross will be the best of the series and I know some of the developers and they WILL take that series in a more authentic direction and make the game better but as it stands today, I think MXGP is far and away the best Motocross game to date due to its authenticity.

But I digress. This isn't a MXGP/MVA thread. This is a plea for DC and the powers that be, Prader, etc...to look into a full licensed game that WILL promote the sport. I know there are developers interested.

Yes, I know DC has his plate full. However, MXSports and Feld should ALWAYS be looking for avenues to expand their fan base and this is for sure one of those avenues.

The GP riders are not getting any compensation from the game?
5/11/2014 9:11am
And how about they start making these games for the new systems!
5/11/2014 10:14am Edited Date/Time 5/11/2014 10:16am
if it was made starchild,i know of 10 copies sold already. its the cheesy physics, terrible bike sounds, dumb ai goofy snow tracks silly sx tracks,no points systems,8 rider mains, terrible online.do a madden like mx sx replica-i mean bike tuning-tracks-riders-points-series..getting signed by real teams, jgr, geico.with prize money u can buy motors, suspension from different companys.,it would make money.......jesh,we have a long way to go. i would buy the yearly release just like sports titles.

That is the purpose of this thread. If someone would do it right...with the full license, all the teams, bikes, riders, replica tracks, points series....do a NBA2k14 of our sport....it would sell like hotcakes and also, more importantly really help our sport grow.

Look at MXGP. I know several people in the industry and they told me that MXGP has sold VERY VERY well. And we all know Supercross is popular worldwide. Much more popular than the MXGP series.

It would sell and make money. And open up new fans to our sport, most importantly.

Since MXGP online is absolute garbage, I went back to playing Reflex, and holy shit you have soooo much more control over the bike. It makes MXGP feel like you are driving an 18 wheeler. No real control , no tapping brake in the air cuz it doesn't do anything. And the fake ass scrub that only looks cool, but doesn't do a damn thing.

I couldn't even handle the bike in Reflex because it moved around so precisely and freely. Took me a while to get going again, but Reflex physics are so much better.

Reflex has a track editor now, so people are making replica tracks. I assume someone could make the nationals without developing a whole new game.

I musta played a different game, because the physics in MXGP are horrible!!!!!!!! I sold my copy within 2 days. Reflex you have real control!!!! MXGP is pretty and thats it. Anyone with any brains will not be fooled by the pretty graphics. Substance over show, and MXGP is all glitter.

No. Not a cent. Luongo gets them to sign away their image rights when they enter.

Teams too.

I've got reflex and mxgp I didn't get alive as the physics look garbage doing wheelies through the whoops at 200mph no thanks its just shite. Reflex was ok but it got boring career mode was pretty rubbish tbh. Mxgp is not the best physics but im damn sure milestone will get it right eventually as there sbk games are good. Theres only two mx games id play right now mx sim and mxgp. The official licence in mxgp is great it really adds to the game and best of all no reflex style voice over guy who makes me want to punch the screen every time I hear his voice.

Milestone should make a mxdn add on pack with rv etc in it would be great.

This is all true.

And for those that think DC is too busy, that may be true but this is a business opportunity plus it would help the growth of the nationals.

MXGP is nothing but a fun arcade MX game, nothing wrong with that and I do enjoy playing it, and I agree that an AMA game would be great for promoting the sport. If you want a MX game with great physics then MX simulator is your best bet.

One thing to take away from the MXGP game is this, the ability to move the rider independent from the bike.

You can power slide and when the bike starts to slide out you can correct it with moving the riders weight.

I do think the scrub sucks. You scrub and it throws you straight into an endo on every jump so that blows.

But I can see some improvements making this game a lot better.

They do need supercross though. GPs get boring after a while.
