PEDs are often discussed, but rarely with any detail.
Lets pool our knowledge in order to bust myths and educate ourselves.

The extent of my limited understand of PEDs in relation to MX is as follows:

1. Ephedrine would be useful for endurance/energy and decreasing fatigue during long motos, though I'm not sure if it's a banned substance.

2. HGH could be useful for a rider to recover from injury and get back to riding/trainer quicker. I believe it causes quicker cell reproduction?? I've read stories of high doses causing jaw enlargement and feet to grow a couple sizes; even the skull can apparently grow. Moreover it can slow the aging process down, maintaining a person's youthful energy, as well as hair color and smooth skin (the reason celebrities use it).

3. EPO gives more oxygen to red blood cells allowing for increased endurance during motos and heart attacks in the future.
Up until now a rider willing to take risks would have been foolish to not use such a beneficial aid.

And of course there's the new cutting edge drugs that the laymen have yet to hear of...

Ephedrine I've never felt increased cardio from. An energy boost yes, which is suited to something like lifting weights when your tired, less so for something endurance based. Never was my cup of tea.

With proper training regime and concentration on muscle endurance work outs, EPO is the only logical choice but the side effects and risk are high

None of the go pills including adderall arent tested for.
especially if they test on raceday.
Caffeine in the blood say if you took 1,000 mgs or so would fail you if tested at the right time. Piss or blood.
I know what I would be doing but its not the usual suspects.
Think women athletes and gymnasts.

Are you making enough to risk a heart attack and have a doc there?
That shits a bit dangerous.
Plus if you cant last an hour youre simply not doing your job.

Really?

Ephedrine is a bronchodilator and absolutely increases your cardiovascular capacity... Why do you think it was used for so long as a fat burner combined with caffeine.

200mg Caffeine with up to 25mg Ephedrine and you will be able do more cardio longer and faster than without. It also raises your core temperature and make you sweat your ass off. Better drink 1 to 2 gallons of water a day with it or risk dehydration like all those dumb asses in the late 90's that dropped dead when taking it.

TG.....this argument will last until the end of time. I've about given up. MX / SX is just like any other sport....and genes play a big role. It starts weeding out the weaker / slower riders as time goes by and as they say..." The cream always rises to the top "

But you can't say that here........because there are so many people that never tried ( I mean really , really tried ) to push themselves to the limits in training and fitness. Never mind the practice on the bike. You could be an awesome rider....but if you're in terrible shape....it isn't going to matter.

I'll end it with.....there are 100's if not 1000's of extreme athletes out there on this planet that put our riders to shame in the " In shape dept ".......and a lot of those don't need to use PED's to do it.

Call me naive.....I call you fucking lazy because you never tried hard enough. Flame away.......

That would be HGH that helps with recovery, think of coming off a serious injury, your only going to be able to get one or two hard workouts in a week because you would be so sore the next day there would be no point. With HGH (hard to detect and not really any bad side effects (expensive)) you could basically stack back to back days all week with intense workouts, the body recovers so much quicker. Think more facial hair, enlarged jaw line and forehead with excessive use. I dont see many reasons why the guys wouldn't be doing this. Testosterone basically does the same thing to a certain extent, but easily detectable. There's testosterone creams now that only last in the body a day or two that could be an option after a hard workout

EPO can be dangerous but I would think only after prolonged use. Your heart has to work harder because the blood with be thicker with more red blood cells but there will be signs first. These guys could get echo cardiograms whenever they want to monitor heart wall thickness and all these things to make sure everything is working right. The heart walls with thicken up if its being overworked for too long. I would think chest pain would start before this.

EPO can increase max power output but mostly its going to increase time to exhaustion at a given power output (approx. 50%) according to this article (http://www.sportsscientists.com/2007/11/the-effect-of-epo-on-performanc…)
Thats kinda crazy when you think about it, if you can go out and sprint for 20 minutes this shit will bump you up too 30 min at the same pace. That sounds like a nice advantage to me

Caffeine and Ephedrine is child's play, or for fat asses trying to lose weight haha

Those study results are incredible! That's a bigger bump than I would have guessed no doubt.

You mentioned testosterone, I've alway thought it helped once natural levels drop with age, is it really of much help for a guy in his mid-twenties?

I'm sure everyone will call me an idiot for this, but I always liked to think that mx riders and racers such as ourselves occupied a little bit higher of a moral ground than the guys who dope in other sports. I feel like this is a pretty small sport in general, and most of the people involved in it are good people, so I have a very hard time believing peds are rampant in the pros like some of you make it out to be. Call me stupid if you want, but I honestly think we are above this crap.

Right on, Rogan's good shit, I've listened to that one and you are correct: very very interesting. Shows how corrupt human nature is, naturally from the top down. Causes me to wonder, what's the new shit? What are athletes using right now that we're only gonna find out about in a decade or so...
and with a few corrupt scientists...

The technical definition of blood doping is:
Blood doping is the practice of boosting the number of red blood cells in the bloodstream in order to enhance athletic performance. Because such blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the muscles, a higher concentration in the blood can improve an athlete’s aerobic capacity (VO2 max) and endurance.

HGH is the only substance I've ever heard being made referenced in the pits as to having been used in the past by some racers. In addition to these HGH recovery benefits (doesn't make you faster just to be clear) there are also anti aging properties associated with HGH. As a result many celebrities and those who can afford it choosing this option since looking young is everything in Hollywood.

The upside is you don't age as quickly, can train/recover like a madman but the downside is you better have deep pockets plus once you start taking it your body stops reducing how much of it's own HGH production. There is a period of "being offline" so to speak once someone elects to stop using HGH it takes a bit before the body reboots.

Personally I don't see why anyone would take HGH for SX but for outdoors I can understand the logic that if you could afford it and there wasn't a test for it why not? As a fan I applaud MX Sports efforts and hope their testing will keep the racers coming into the sport from having to go down that route in the quest to be the ultimate MX machine. The sport is expensive enough as it is.

Youll never tell me anything about hrt or trt I dont already know.
most couldnt afford legit hgh even if it was from china in an iu amount per day to act as a ped.

I know athletes spending 1500-10 grand per month just for hgh.. Most in this sport cant afford.

Thats not including the 5-7000 mgs of other AAS they are using per week.
for example an 80 year old man might get a 200 mg shot every 2 weeks in comparison.

Before testing became a big deal...Nandrolones and a few 19 Nors were better for recovery and joint repair. And way more affordable than hgh.

That shit is like castor oil for the joints.
too bad metabolites are detectable for 18 months.

Bvm.....you forgot one component. Aspirin.

For years certain meds were available that worked and being they werent 17 alpha alkylated were less liver toxic than aspirin.
All on the list now.

hell one of the best AAS can be extracted from cattle implants.
You can eat a shitload of them per day bit that gets expensive.

I wonder how adept they are for testing research chemicals.
