You forget about mechanicals.

Seems to happen to Stewart fairly often here lately. Daytona wasn't really a bike failure, but maybe the team could have prevented it with a guard. I know, practically no one runs a guard in the pros, double layered Ti seems to be the norm for factory supported guys.

Stewart may love his 'zook, and it is one sweet scooter, but it seems to have a penchant for laying down on the job.

Remember Dungey 2011? Metcalf running out of fuel training? Same team, same bike (practically).

So me saying what I think is stupid, but what you saying what you think is not?

Seems legit.

Mind you, I'm not claiming this thread is factual, (like RV is racing Nat's), that would be stupid.

Weren't you the one saying RV looked injured, while everybody else said it's the dirt not allowing him to steer with his rear tire ?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure IceMan is referring to when Metcalfes bike ran out of gas while practicing and breaking his leg or something. He was on Suzuki, and that ended his relationship with that team.

"There was actually the wrong fuel tank on the bike, or if it was meant to be there, they never told me. At the time of the crash, I had it running through my head, ‘How the heck did this just happen?’ At the time I trusted in the team and they indicated to me that I would never run out—after Dungey ran out in 2011 and that would never happen again. It was frustrating. Once I had the surgery and got out of the hospital, I was looking over the bike and realized it had a stock tank. And stock tanks, they don't have enough capacity to run the full factory engine and our different mapping. That was the reason for the crash; the incorrect fuel tank was put on the bike." - Metty

Dungey all day. He's better outdoors then in and his fitness will show as the season wears on. Kenny will be amazing for the first half but as we saw in Supercross he is still adapting to the long season and it will wear as the season goes on. James will have several wins but will make more mistakes than Dungey and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nationals mirror his Supercross season. Otherwise lots of guys will mix it up early, but as the season wears they will challenge less and less. Just like Supercross.

I have to agree. Tbh I previously thought that his (Kenny's) best bet for grabbing an AMA MX title this year would come from one last try on the 250. But he's stepped up so much this season; I think he'll be there challenging every step of the way on the 450 till the end, especially with RV out of the picture. A Dungey vs Roczen battle down the stretch is how I think it'll play out personally, with hopefully Ken getting the nod (though in all honesty I would have to bet on the experience of Ryan).

Have a bundle of respect for James (obviously all those guys) and there's no doubt in my mind that he'll win races. But like a lot of people, going on history, I see him faltering down the stretch. Even when mistake free, the guy often seems to have appalling luck that ends up derailing his points battle.

The 250 class runs the 12 rounds same as the 450 class outdoors. If it wasn't for nuts-o Tomac last year, Roczen would have had it. Supercross may have been a drag for him, but Roczen should be used to a 12 round outdoors series.

Yep! Lol

Dudes with bad knees don't stick their legs out with their knees locked, unless they're damn sure that front tire isn't going away from them. They'll rarely dab their foot on purpose, and if they do, there's not much weight on it.

True, but it is right on top of the Supercross season that seemed to be a bit long for him in his rookie year. Time will tell. He obviously has the speed outdoors. Nobody can question that.

Keep the photogs from running across the track.. and his starts need to be on point. Im convinced that no matter what if stew is top 5 after the second corner he will be leading by end of the second lap and then pacing the guy behind them

Gotta read the original reply about this.

You are correct he ran out of gas at Southwick on a Honda.

But the original post said he ran out of gas while testing. Which happened while he was on a Suzuki.

The event I was referring to Metcalf was on a Suzuki during the week. He was doing 30+2 practice motos on a stock tank and ran dry through some fast rollers or a rhythm section. I can't recall the exact obstacle.

I'm thinking that when James went 24-0 the rest of the field was just so beat down by RC and then by James that the race was over before it started. Everybody else just raced for second place.
So this year it all depends on what the rest bring to the first few races.
If they bring the races to James, then we might see him have to ride at the edge where things go bad in a hurry.
If they let him take the first few rounds, it is all over.

James is my favorite and has been since 125s. I really would love to see him win. He def is the biggest threat. It is hard though to beat Dungey's consistency. If james can just go with out a DNF I think hands down he can win it. He really wants it bad too. Keeping fingers crossed for James.
