The bikes are so good these days, its the rider that makes the difference. Furthermore, we all discussing Roczen vs Dungey here....just dont forget, Roczen has already crashed big time and hurt himself. I know he is going to be on the startline to try and salvage points but the pain may be too much..or even worse, he crashes and does further damage.

While i respect Dungey huge, im a greater Roczen fan but so far, im afraid to say, Dungey is already winning the war.....the war is all about gathering points and its going to go to right to the end....
if the war is all about gathering points, then how is Dungey already winning the war?

are there pre-season points i'm unaware about?

There are many factors at what makes a great rider. One of them being that a rider needs to have the ability to give positive feedback and communicate with the engineers when it comes to problem solving. Its safe to say that most Pro's test well, however, the tricky part is positive development...for example, taking a already great bike and further developing it in order to ride faster in a safe manner. Stewart is a notoriously bad tester (so i read somewhere). He can tell you whats wrong but cant tell you what needs to be done to fix it. The engineers have to figure that out....which takes time and could cost points along the way.

Most riders are content to leave problems and development ideas to the engine, suspension and chassis guys. Development will continue throughout the season...you can never say this it it...its at its best and leave it there...

Im sure Villopotto would have developed the RMZ or the KTM into the winners circle....just like Carmichael did with the RMZ after McGrath had a shit season on the thing.

The past few seasons, RV2 has been the best at the "Complete package scenario"....the pieces of the puzzle fell into place nicely. All the rest have had small niggling issues.

So the questions is, " who's best prepared coming into A1?"........Roczen is already handicaped with his injury.

Very soon now many questions will be answered...but, as Ricky always said, " lets not give the trophy way yet!"

Going to be a long SX season.......aaaagh, i cant wait for Saturday night...
When did McGrath race the RMZ?
RC was the first guy to really race the RMZ450 at the factory level, since in 2004 they were running two-strokes.

40,000 people saw Roczen choke at the MXoN.........A faster Tomac on his ass and he held it together. I think Roczen figured America would be easier than it was, maybe he believed all the hype. I think we will see a different Ken Roczen in 2014.

End of year results - Dungy takes 4th due to his consistency. Roczen will come in at 5th after a series of outstanding races inbetween some not so great races.

Kenny is not the same rookie that Justin Barcia was, or anyone else for that matter. Sure it takes time to acclimate to the new class, but KRoc needed to do that in a whole new country. I'm pretty sure he can handle stepping up into the big boy class.

As for the question "what if", its not what if, its "WHEN" because when he does, obviously KTM wouldn't abandon all that they have sunk into RD. However, Keeping them both may cost a good amount of $$. Which leads me to believe Kenny is jumping ship to a different manufacturer once it becomes contract time.

Why don't you just be a fan of the sport? I've always been a fan of Roczen because he looks like a carefree kid with the world at his finger tips.

You, on the other hand, seem to see him as some sort of great white hope.

Great start by Roczen and poor start by Dungey. How many guys did RD pass and how many Roczen? You guys really think KR is gonna beat RD in points? Then again I was kinda shocked Davi did just that... Motocross is where RD really shines. SX is kinda ticky tack extra dangerous BS really and the starts matter way too much in SX, the damn narrow tracks... They hype the hell out of SX but MX is better, way more room for passing and less dangerous. I cant STAND arenacross. bleh. follow the leader. Happy to see KR AND RD 1 2 though. Dungey looked quite happy on podium and rightfully so. Roczen seemed truly shocked to have won LOL. Funny stuff. I bet KR wont stop smiling tomorrow and the whole week. I someone seriously doubt he will be able to hold points lead like DM did, but who knows. For Dungey this has to be his year to shut the critics up once and for all... Hes got to win championships with the big guys there... He can do it.

Beginning of the season, I was pulling for CR22, JS7 and RD5...at this point Dungey's the one left who's still got a shot at coming out on top.

Halfway into the season it looks like the older, more experienced tortoise is steadily gaining momentum while the younger, less experienced hare is a bit all over the charts. We'll see if that trend continues through the second half. Either way, i a fan of both pumpkin pilots.

I sure hope you're right. Huge rd fan. It was great to see him ride a technical track as easy as he did. I'm hoping for more of this. RV from last to 4th is a bit concerning though. RD has it in him I know he does!!!

First Time I realized just how much a badass Dungey is....was on this day!...34 min mark is a great start...RC is talking about how it took him a COUPLE yrs acclimate and beat Jeremy McGrath- We all Love and Respect KDUB right? he lived in RC's shadow but has traded paint and beat the best this sport has seen. Even KDUB was unable to get a bigs title and RD facing RV, James and CR's shadow has still managed that feat :0 and he was cheated on a couple due to bs mechnicals- to boot IMO- Kenny may be our next great or champ but- he should try to learn from his teammate IMO

One rock in a chain from beating him overall. Not a bad rookie season with a top 3 overall finish.

Who finished ahead of who? You are unaware about a lot, it seems.

Even though James struggled on the Yamaha , I think he hung it out farther and had the old James style on it, more than the current Suzuki. Certain races from this time era look like they had a faster pace than now.

Maybe.

But also that video you just posted was the first race on the new style Yamaha.

Maybe he hadn't been bitten too bad yet!
