Example : When Stewart said he was going to race the nationals.......I think he wanted to , and hoped to , but a lot of behind the scene stuff kept him from doing so. You are also comparing 2 completely different riders here.
Every single rider out there has his own obligations to the sport. Weather it be family , sponsors , team , ect.....every single one of them have a different set of rules and obligations put in front of them.
For RV.....it was up in the air I believe. But it seems those obligations and obstacles got ironed out.....and now he's committed on running the nationals. I would say after tonight.....there is a 99.9% chance were going to see RV on the gate at GH.
I said it wouldn't be the first time a rider said "as of now" they planned to race the nationals. That was Stewart and I agree with everything you said about him wanting to and not being able to. I also clearly said that they were different situations as Stew's team did not traditionally run the outdoors. So where did I state my opinion as fact?
It very well could be that RV got all the stuff that was going to prevent him from racing the nationals ironed out and he's going racing. I have absolutely never discounted that or stated it as a fact he wasn't going to. I have stated that people who report on the sport for a living and are close to him were pretty sure (99.9%) that he wasn't racing. Not my opinion. Theirs. So again, how am I making stuff up or presenting my opinion as fact? The only thing I stated as my opinion is I wasn't sure who was right yet. Time will tell.
I just listened to his post race interview with Matthes where he said he would be at Glen Helen(he hesitated to say he would be there to race although I think he was just messing with Matthes). Maybe he will be and maybe he won't. The odds are certainly looking better that he will.

I root for RV mainly because he's my hometown / local kid that I've been watching race since he was little. Same with Josh hill ( used to race is dad a lot ). But because I don't root for James , or Chad , or RD , ect to beat RV.....it means I hate them all and wish them a miserable death.
THAT......is a fact on this board. You can't post truthful shit.....because in someone elses twisted mind.....it isn't the truth.

Small, niche-oriented sports like SX/MX do not have media obligations like major franchises or leagues. Therefore, athletes have much greater autonomy in how they deal with journalists. Moments before the interview Ryan had wrapped up his fourth SX title, likely meeting his 2014 commitments to Kawasaki, Monster, etc. By telling the media he'll be at Glen Helen alleviates the need for a protracted interview, versus the firestorm that erupts if he says the opposite.
Pit Row
As of right now RV IS racing outdoors. Sure he may back out later if he further aggravates something, injures something else, gets deathly ill, has a loss in the family, gets an anonymous donation of $20 million from all of his competition at the end of the nationals as long as he doesn't show up, etc.
Of course something could happen, but you have to understand how ridiculous it is to question it so much when at this point in time, right now, the most credible bit of information about RV's status is directly from RV himself saying he will be there.
Save the what ifs for when they're necessary.
What if giant meteors come down on very track in the series? Then there won't even be a series! OMG!!! HAS EVERYONE HEARD? THERE MAY NOT BE AN OUTDOOR SERIES THIS YEAR!!!
I'm sure RV reads this forum as all of them do. I bet secretly he gets a real kick out of all of us speculating and having fun about this or that. Then he sees your "Mr. Know It All" post and like a Debbie Downer you quickly and efficiently bring all the fun to a screeching halt. Dude let stuff run a little. Who cares... Post less.
Remember less is more from the mods.
