Not a fan of Barcia, and yes, he does sometimes perform unnecessarily aggressive passes. However, block passes have been a part of this sport forever. The rider being passed is forced to check-up and hold their high line. But Stewart did not. He clearly turned into Barcia's line (in retaliation for the bold move). Then proceeded to physically shove Barcia, as well as attempt to launch his bike at him.

This occurred following a previous similar incident involving Stewart, where he ended up T-boning Jason Anderson. This is obviously becoming a pattern of misbehavior and poor sportsmanship on the part of Stewart, and should be dealt with by the AMA.

Like I said, I'm not a big fan of Barcia, but I'm now even less of a fan of Malcolm Stewart. Imo, his repeated actions are on the same level as Alessi's...perhaps even worse. He's a poor loser and a punk.
So let's get this straight. You blame Mookie for turning down on Barcia (I'd hardly call that a turn-down) but you don't blame Anderson for jumping from one side of the track to the other and turning down on Mookie? Congratulations, you have the most hypocritical first post ever.

THIS is exactly what I was trying to say last night. IF Barcia would of grabbed that rut the right way with his front tire......you can be about 99% positive he would of dumped the clutch and took out Malcolm s front end. That is just the way Barcia rides!

Funny how guys can make passes all night long with little to no contact......or even some good rubbin' , but they don't damn near clean out every rider they go by like what Barcia does. The dude is fast....but he can ride like a prick.

I'm not saying that both Barcia and Anderson didn't perform aggressive passes on Stewart. His reaction (however) in both instances was pure hot headed cheap shots. Only a fanboy of Stewart would say otherwise.

Even the announcers said before it happened that Stewart was about to be a victim- Everybody knew it was coming. Barcia could have just as easily gone inside, taken the first rut in the turn etc but he chose to run Stewart high-

Malcolm is feeling the pressure of being James lil' bro'! The whole living in the shadows of the SCRUB creator and all ya' know.

So he now has his own move, the "Rev-Limiter Restart". If another racers bike, or racer, is in the way... hell be damned, it'll sure get him back into the race ASAP! Jus' PIN IT(throttle) and POP IT(clutch)! Burnouts are for extra style points bro's Wink

Although, it's not as technical as pulling off a scrub, and definitely not as beneficial so your mileage may vary. Actually, it's more of a GOON move when you think about it Tongue

Haha, if you've read my post history you'd certainly know I haven't been a Stewart fanboy. Might want to read the forum a while before you start posting. Oh btw, welcome to the forum noob Evil

Fully agree Roost Goose. I came on here this morning actually expecting to read something about MS getting fined or penalized in some way. I guess they (AMA) will let him do it until someone gets hurt. Dumb move.

Barcia is good and consistent about putting his back tire right into the other rider's front. It happens often and seems calculated and well practiced. But I could be wrong.

Having finished 2nd last, I thought maybe he had been black flagged, but I think his radiator was just cooked.

Did I read that correctly? Are you saying that those diagnosed with "Mookie Fever" actually came down with a case of "Vaginitis"? Oh man, that's not gonna go over well Wink

Barcia is a 5th place racer on a good night.
3/9/2014 1:40pm
Mookie left the door open.

These guys are racing for money.

Barcia made a textbook block pass, then made a mistake by pushing his front end. If this pass was made at any other track without huge ruts in the berms nobody would of went down and nobody would have posted two sentences about this pass.

Anyone know if the AMA talked to Mookie & Justin about the incident?
What was the official outcome?

Exactly...he is a one trick pony. It is the only way he knows how to pass. What Barcia does not seem to realize is that it is in HIS own interest to find safer (and faster) ways to pass.

1. When you block pass...shit can go wrong easy, and you end up on the ground. It boggles my mind that ANYONE would consider Barcia a title threat when he passes this way every time. Over the course of a season, the higher risk of the aggressive block pass will bite you a couple of time...like it did last night. It is simply inevitable. There are lots of ways to pass guys...and many of them put you at much much less risk. How often do you see RV do blatant block moves? Almost never..unless he HAS to...because he is smart, and he knows it has risks. If you take risks over and over...it will catch up to you. Same for Stew. That turndown he does...where he gains on you a little each corner...then bam...he has you. THAT is very safe. Can Barcia even do that?

2. The aggressive block pass is also a SLOW way to pass. If you make a line chopping block for 5th position...you may take the spot...but you AND the guy you passed both lose a few seconds to the leader. This is one reason Barcia has done poorly this year. When he gets a bad start...his passing technique just makes it impossible for him to come forward to the leaders. If he is able to make his way up to the fast guys...they are GONE because of all time he lost chopping people off.

Barcia should care less what others think of his passing. What he should care about is how his passing skills are a serious hindrance to his own success.

Yes...last nights move was clean, but it went wrong. Is that Barcias fault? In the long run..hell yes...because he puts himself in the same position over and over and over. It was just a matter of time. The same thing could have easily happened when he punted Wil Hahn earlier this year...

Unless Barcia makes a serious attempt to improves his cornering skills and passing skills...the only way he will ever win a race is the same way he has previously (PHX and Seattle)...getting a hole shot. He can not get a P5 start and win vs today's strong fields. Championship contender? That is comical unless he makes a commitment to becoming a more complete rider with more racecraft tools.

If you see a deliberate take out move there you are either blind or have no idea how motorcycles work. If anyone should be penalized it's Mookie for trying to take JB's head off with his front wheel lol.

PS: I\m a Mookie fan but that was uncalled for

A few observations.
* Mookie is Malcolm's nick name. No racial slurs there.
* Mookie left the door open. He should have guarded the inside with Justin so close. Barcia was almost right next to him going into the straight.
* Barcia was going to run him high, and why wouldn't he? You can see him drifting to the middle, instead of the inside. He wasn't close enough to just rail the inside. If he really wanted to be aggressive he could have gone in a lot hotter. He was not on the gas, and could've drifted a lot higher in the turn if he was trying to take him out.
* Barcia took a bounce just before the corner. I'm not saying that caused him to miss his rut, but it does look that way.
* Mookie was riding great! I was hoping he'd take a 3rd or better. I can understand his frustration in crashing, but his actions are inappropriate and should result in discipline or probation. Again, I understand his frustration, but you can't launch your bike at someone.

All said, I'm a fan of Mookie and I believe Justin has toned things down quite a bit from his 250f days. Last year a lot of people on this board wrote Malcolm off and said he would not do well. I'm glad they were wrong.

And it would do Barcia good to learn a few more passing techniques.

Thanks for stopping by,
Radical

You guy's claiming Barcias pass was 100% clean are delirious! He just crashed before he could get his back wheel around and take out Mookies front.
If I intend to rob a bank and trip over the front steps, do the police help me up and send me on my way with a pat on the back?

OC usually I agree with your opinions but this photo doesn't come close to telling the story at all.

If you look at my photo you will realize that Malcolm left the door wide open. Justin took that opportunity , just as any other rider on the line would have, and made a clean pass. Malcolm then pushed the issue and turned down into Justin which causes Justin's front to pop out of the rut, push the front end and causing them to both go down. If this was any other rider Malcolm would , and should have, checked up and continued racing. Because of their past Malcolm forced the situation and ruined his own race.

IMO some pro's ,and keyboard heroes, feel as though the riders are entitled to any line they want and it's the reason the races get boring. One of the first things you are taught is to ALWAYS protect your line. Malcolm didn't and Justin took advantage just as he should have. Justin gets the short end of the stick because of his past but the is not one of those times. I'm a BIG Mookie fan but he acted like a spoiled brat on this one.
