I still rock my 08 tld gear. Stuff looks great after years of abuse. Even got compliments on it today. By far the best gear I have ever owned.

TLD, since the SX team's very inception, has consistently had the best looking bikes on the track.

Best looking bikes in the paddock, hands down. Those duel FMF pipes are beauties.

A friend of mine nabbed pics of the kids and I at Diamond Don's a couple years back and framed them together for me. "Like father, like sons" he wrote on the back. He managed to get us all in the same spot although we were in different classes. Pretty cool. I had to "scan" them with my cell phone. We look like the poster children for TLD.

He...They...put SO Much BACK into the Sport. We take it for granted; but, at the end of the day, these guys are a "Private Team" that's spending a ton of money & resources to be a Cutting-Edge-Class-Leading-Team.

Sure, it's all part of their marketing strategy; but, it's still "very Troy" & his love for Moto shows in his Team.

Last-night, I grabbed these pics as I was reflecting on how much they remind me of the Ol'School Team Honda days when there were a bunch of Tahitian Red Hondas under the Big Red Tent...

Congrats Team TLD.

You ARE doing it Right!

I had the privledge of working pretty closely with Troy(and Bob) during the Supermoto era......it is hard to describe the energy and commitment he brings to motorsports.

TLD is to be commended not just for the success of their riders/team but what they do for all things motorsports.

Well played.

Surprised that no one mentioned their quality. I've had many brands, and their stuff holds up really well and their helmets are really good for the price point. So...it's a win win to me, along with the participation in the sport and racing.

Yep, my gear from 01/02 is my back up set. Other than my bad choice of name and number logo supplier on the back , it's still all together. Newer set doesn't have enough usage to be worn out. North Forty Braaaaappppp...

Chasing son number one in one of his other TLD sets at Don's GP practice.

Nice Newman...i used to feel guilty when I wanted to buy new gear (just for something different) because I couldn't really justify spending the money like I could on other gear that would be falling apart after one season...lol

I see what you are saying, but.... Those in the know like to give this team credit because not all teams do it the right way...
I see what you are saying, but....

Those in the know like to give this team credit because not all teams do it the right way or are even in it for as "noble" reasons as marketing. Some of these teams are just vanity projects and are about as unprofessional as you could imagine. Lots of bullshit and certainly nowhere you'd want to send your impressionable teenage son right out of the amateur ranks.

TLD's team bucks that trend. Sure, they get extra credit for doing their jobs, but they do it well and that is saying a lot compared to a lot of situations IMO.

I have hit up Fox up over the years for local event support and have never gotten anything from them. I gotten free outfits from AXO and Oneal, goggles from Scott, free full suspension kits from Race Tech and Pro Circuit. Full 2 stroke motor mods and pipes from PC, along with free pipes from FMF. All the above also gave deep discount coupons in support. There were lots of others too that gave, lots.
Having said that the 2 companies that never ever gave anything was Fox and Oakley. I don't think I ever even got rejection letters from them. Anytime I ever asked was for a charity event fundraiser.
TLD has given every time I asked. I don't think Fox or Oakley have much for the little guy though I remember Jim Jannard selling his stuff out of his car to us locals at Saddleback to get his start.

Troy is a nice guy with style for days, and his team is the same. I love companies like that. Feel the Same about Donny Elmer.

No trying to defend them, but I would imagine fox and Oakley get hit up for that kind of stuff a million times more than the purely moto brands. Doesn't really surprise or offend me but I can see where you're coming from.

When I put this up I was simply conveying my personal observations & an explanation. I'm truly impressed by the posts that others have put up & I'm really diggin' the info on "who's wearing what".

I'm kinda surprised no one brought up Day in the Dirt; because, that event pretty much says it all...

I would be willing to bet a company like Fox probably gets tens of thousands (heck, maybe even hundreds of thousands) of requests for free or donated items. I wouldn't hold that against them. I've been a Fox fan since the 70's, that gear they had back then was one of those timeless classics. Still looks good today. And while we've been big Troy Lee fans, and continue to be, I have my reasons for being a Fox fan for life. I'll pay full pop retail and be smiling about it. Great people, great business and some damn nice employees. Pretty cool when you see a bunch of people who seem to be enjoying their jobs.

I don't know about the gear, but he showed up at GH with his son in a van to do some local racing. I saw him at the gate with his boy, and cheering him on trackside during the moto. Then he lined up himself and raced in the old guy class. I spoke to him after the motos and he was friendly and happy. Seemed like a real good person and Dad.

Troy lee honda is about as close to a factory team as you can get. I assure you they get a ton of support from honda; much as rock star gets "factory " bikes from Ktm
