Walmart isn't selling you the exhaust, they've just set up a network that allows other smaller retailers to sell through Walmart's website. Amazon has been doing it for a few years now.

Thanks for your concern and comments, we are aware that FMF Racing branded products have recently begun to appear on the Sears and Wal-Mart Marketplace websites - offered by a third party. This is similar to third party posts on Amazon and E-bay.

We do not agree with, nor do we endorse, this manner of advertising and selling of FMF Racing products. We are looking into this and consulting certain advisors and other professionals to resolve the matter in the best interests of loyal local dealers, nationwide wholesale distributors, and all FMF customers worldwide. Thank you.

Too bad you didn't feel this way with FMF Int. I seen FMF clothing in every mall and a ton of possers wear FMF so me and most the people I know won't wear FMF clothing, Fox did the same thing and no body wears fox any more. Good on One Industries for staying with their local dealers.

People complain about the purse money being shitty, the sport being small, shitty TV deals for outdoors, etc... but they complain when MX brands go mainstream and have the potential to make more money and help grow the sport...

Isn't the guy posting the FMF pipe on Wal-Mart an authorized FMF dealer? so prossibly a moto/atv dealer who needs this to stay in business or maybe he uses the extra profits to sponsor some local talent...

If you think it's unfair for other FMF local dealers... what about BTO, Motosport, etc...?

I've never understood this "Us-n-Them" mentality. Next thing you know, you are gonna decide who can or can't go to a Supercross, who can or can't watch it on Fox, who can or can't ride at what track.

"posers"

Classic.

So, FMF puts a deal together with a clothing company that's been successful at getting clothing sold & that makes them the Bad-Guys?

Dude, YOU are the Poser.

"I seen"...Bwahahahahahahaa

Idiot.

My local wallyworld has a cardboard cutout of a CRF250 on their hitch-mounted bike carrier display. It's mounted above the aisle, so from halfway across the store, it looks like there's a CRF sitting on top of the shelf. Shockingly cool from a distance and flatly disappointing up close.

Sounds like you're the poser bro, since you're so worried about where things are being sold and who's wearing what product. If you don't want to support moto brands then that's on you but don't complain where they are being sold. I'm pretty sure Tilly's, Sears, etc. who sell these brands aren't taking money away from local moto shops since the people who buy the clothes at big retailers wouldn't go to moto shops anyways to buy Fox clothing, etc. They tapped into another market of consumers and it looks like it's working, so good for them. I bet you're SO CORE bro.

That was my first thought when I read it but you have to consider the business model.

I think the issue is that retail outlets like Amazon and WalMart require price control to a degree and want to be able to offer the product cheaper than the competition. The price point is likely not favorable to other dealers who who have contracts with FMF and are selling the most FMF products. This is more of a matter of FMF protecting their dealers from being out bid by WalMart and Amazon. And it's questionable whether Amazon and Wal Mart could outsell the motorcycle distribution channels. Either way, the motorcycle distribution channels are currently FMF's biggest resellers so they're going to protect them while it's in their best interest.

Back in the day Hutch bicycles where badass then they started showing up at Western Auto, not long after that no kid would be caught dead on one. Not that its gonna happen to FMF but I can see why they wouldnt want it sold out of Wally World.

Wouldn't these people have to be an FMF distributor to get the exhausts at a wholesale price in the first place? I don't see how they can buy them from anyone else and still make a profit at that price. Why doesn't FMF require a contract with their distributors that their items be sold no less than a certain amount? Anyone who sells it for less is in breach of the contract and are immediately terminated from their list of authorized FMF retailers. STIHL has a price lock with their outdoor power equipment. It's the same price at every dealer around. Therefore you buy on dealer service and satisfaction, instead of price.

until wal mart starts selling the actual motorcycles these exhaust are made for...it doesn't seem like the same problem as what you are talking about

I believe price fixing might be illegal in some forms - not sure if they can make retailers sell for a set price. That is why things say suggest retail price. If a retailer is lowballing a price for a product, the manufacture can elect to stop selling them product at wholesale but they can't make them sell for a set price. It is all about free enterprise and capitalism.

The moto shops are already having a hard enough time staying in the black, why not encourage distributors to only sell through authorized moto shops.

Support a shop that at least has retail outlet, even if they also sell online is what help keep moto strong

I understand what you are saying.
I said the same thing when they started selling Social Distortion cassette tapes at major music retailers years ago.
But what I didn't get is... They made it big and at the end of the day it's a business.

And maybe it will open the door to some posers being participants.
It's also good to get mainstream money dumped into the sport at any angle.

From my experience working at a powersports distributor, this was only a matter of time.

FMF has the least restrictive policy of any other brand when it comes to who they will authorize to distribute their products.

I don't see it happening, but anyway.... lets say someone like Walmart goes to the extreme limits of this and starts selling everything motocross.... even new bikes! cheaper than any dealer can sell them to you for...
Yeah, it would put the little guy under.... sucks for them, but if they can't be competitive, then thats the way it goes.
Walmart has already put a lot of other smaller business under.... but you don't see many shoppers complaininig about the prices or return policies.
