Damn dude, grow up!Smile Like a kid in a candy store aren't you. That bike is going to be fun to ride not having to worry about knocking the old downpipe off of it. I take it we will have a ride report in no less than four hours, right???? So, are you up to 21 old bikes yet? That's the average number for us addicts. I must be a double addict.....

I'm looking at this bike and thinking 1976 or 1977 CR125 Elsinore. Then I see the up pipe and I'm thinking ??!?!?.

Bike looks nice

Cool bike. Very nice. The gas tanks stayed the same until '78, going to that bulb like tank.

Want to say '76.

Wish I was smarter 20 yrs ago when I had almost perfect '73 Bul 250 Pursang(still had fiberglass fenders, tank badges, pickle silencer, etc) and '74 Elsie 250(with the tank only having a small dent, but all the pinstriping, orig tank sticks)......Bul cost $175; Elsie think $300. Also had a perfect, but not running '73 Husky 125 that sat in the original owners garage whole time.....$75 bucks.

I put an ad in the local paper I worked for "Wanted Bultaco 125 Pursang". I got so many calls I lost count; even from Wash, Ore, NV.....ridiculous. I collected every basket case $50 or less. Many, many parts for Pursangs, Sherpa Ss and even took Alpina, Lobitos...anything close like 100 miles. Surprised how many in the hills had these things. Joined SMOG when the I believe Whitings in NV sent out mo/bi-monthly publications. I had a couple friends that knew a guy that had a couple of absolutely spotless 125 Monarks...NorCal collector then....forgot name....Mike something think.

The Bul I bought. Bobby and FTE may remember the rider...Kim Reeg. Local Expert. His dad had it sitting in garage and just happened to see ad...talk about karma even though it wasn't a 125....when he said $175, I thought hell yeah.....

Makes me sick the amount of money these bikes get...and the Bul parts.... I think I got no more than $700 bucks or so for 'em all. The if I knew then what know now......dang.

Good luck Tb on your new addition......Wink Stuff is sure fun.

Best buds got think a couple dozen V/PV bikes.....Think he needs a Dr...hehehe.

'75s think had a big red stripe down the center of the tank if remember correct but mostly still silver and thru '77s, looked much the same.

All red came in '76; pretty sure. Think '77 the top shock mount was more forward(?).

Anyone know of someone that has a '74 KX125....the rotary valved one?

Just wanted to see some pics if anyone here has or knows someone that does.

Tough find I'll bet.

Look closely at TBT's rear fender and the frame loop that goes over it. That's the main giveaway that it's a 74-75 CR125. Painted red like everyone wanted theirs back in the day so they could look like Marty or Pierre. Front fender is from a 76-78 model. Swingarm and pipe are aftermarket hop up items from the Vntage Factory and the trick finned extenders on the front forks are Ottow's Werks items that were sold through FMF.

As for the 74-76 KX125's Andy, if they had been released six months earlier, you would probably see as many of them as you see CR125's. That little bike ripped. Good low end power from a 125 of that era. Handled well too. I sold a 74 model to a friend of mine who searched out enough new parts to rebuild the engine and pretty much went over the whole bike . I hooked him up with new paint and graphics on the tank. Runs good and looks quite well also. Pretty rare bikes probably due to the electrofusion coated cylinders that couldn't be bored. Lots of those bikes got pushed to the curb when they quit running.

Well, it arrived yesterday, I sat on it and put it in the warehouse. I have WP shocks on the way and will need to have some crank/rod work done before I'm comfortable riding it.

this is my second Vintage Factory CR125. I have an FMF 1976 version that is stunning.

Joe is right about the bike. It's a 75 with all the trick stuff. Here is the description that Scott Steger had on eBay:

This is a 1975 Honda CR125 Elsinore FMF Racer Restored by the world famous restorers at Vintage Factory! This bike has had a ground up restoration, sparing no expense. Our background stretches back to the 70’s, when these bikes were raced, with over 100 restored Elsinores to our credit! We ship our Elsinores all over the globe, with customers even in Japan where the bikes were made! Our RC Replica bikes are endorsed by 3-time National Champion/70’s MX sensation, Marty Smith. And if he puts his name on them, they have to be the best!

Don’t hesitate to email if you have any questions!

See our site at vintagefactory.com for more photos!

Here are a few of the items this bike includes:

· VF Up Pipe w/silencer
· FMF Ported Cylinder
· FMF Jetted 32 Mikuni Carb w/Hi-Volume Intake
· FMF Forks
· FMF Air Caps
· FMF Chromoly “Marty Smith” Swingarm w/Alum Chain Guide
· FMF 520 Big Chain Kit
· Girling Styled Shocks

This racer would be great for the track, your den, or office for display!

so stock 1975 CR125 Elsinore was black frame, silver tank with red stripe on top. silver fenders (front fender has bolt on mud flap) and silver side panels with green number back ground. They had polished aluminum fork legs and chrome handle bars

I remember the FMF race bikes but I thought they didn't start until 76 when these bikes came from the factory in red?

74 CR125 had black frame, all silver bodywork, green stripe on tank and green backgrounds, chrome bars and the bolt on front mudflap. Down pipe had the pickle silencer.

75 had silver fenders and tank with red stripe. Number plates were red with black (actually a very dark gray metallic, flat finish) backgrounds, and black handlebars. Downpipe had welded in silencer.

There were very many differences between the 74 and 75 model, but you have to start looking pretty close for some of them. Most everything will interchange between the two. FMF was modifying the Elsinores since the beginning with a very trick laydown conversion on the rear of the frame. Then they went to the forward mount swingarm with stock upper mounts. I have a complete 74 FMF Racer with everything they did to them. Just need to assemble it, most everything is ready to go. Frame mods are like the one on the cover of the 74 FMF catalog.

Notice the rear frame tubes have been removed and replaced with boxed rectangular tubing for the laydowm shocks.

This would be TBT's other Vintage Factory built FMF Racer, by far the trickest and coolest scoot to ever roll out of FMF. I also have everything to replicate this 76-78 version of FMF "Package Racer" including a few additional FMF rarities not seen on Marks bike. Outside of the Team DG bikes with Pro-Fab frames and fiberglass tanks, the FMF bikes really stood out over the other hop up shops. Even then, the FMF bikes looked better.

I was a kid back then and raced a 74 & 75 125 Elsinore. Just trying to recollect from memory. I know FMF made parts from them as soon as they came out because I used their pipes and porting. Uncle Donny (who wasn't that old)
