MXA has an interview with Pete Fox, good read.

MXA: OBVIOUSLY FOX COULD HAVE UPPED THE ANTE AND KEPT JAMES, WHAT WERE THE MOTIVATIONS THAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO LET HIM GO, AND TO WHAT EXTENT DID JAMES' DECISION TO BECOME A SUPERCROSS-ONLY RIDER PLAY INTO YOUR NEGOTIATIONS WITH HIM?

Pete: Since our beginning, Fox has been totally committed to motocross and Supercross. We feel strongly that our sport and Industry need both series to be healthy, and Fox will always support both series. That is where Fox's priorities and path recently separated from James. We wish James luck with his Supercross career. Fox remains committed to the entire sport of both Supercross and motocross.

RV races mx and sx...??? its been a long time since ive seen BT ride. what does he wear?? i can only remember him in his pc mandatory thor gear.

says something about answer tho. they want to establish an association with themselves and champions like fox has done over the years.

Fox is the only company taking the anti stupidcross-only road. From now on we are only supporting the riders that do the outdoors and stupidcross. Class act. Great for the sport as a whole.
I am dumping the thor gear and going only FOX for 2009. They have been in our sport since day one in the USA.

I will join FOX RACING and their priorities. Stupidcross only......see ya bye. That includes the riders and the companies that support them.

And screw the limited outdoor season shit. Either you are a racer or you are IN IT FOR THE MONEY. Cut and dried.

I pray MX Sports and the AMA NEVER let a stupidcross only rider race for our country in the MXoN.

And as far as "answer gear" goes. If you love the outdoor nationals NEVER buy anything from that company! (not that anyone would)

I call bullshit on "Supercross only" being a factor in the negotiations. But that's a fucking brilliant PR tactic to spin this in their favor. Now they are more "core" than James Stewart?!

They've thrown millions of dollars at their riders in the past. And those riders have always ran both series'. I don't believe it's as much spin as you think.

You can say what you want about SX vs MX exposure/TV ratings etc.... it all has to boil down to if you think you're getting the best return on your investment. Fox didn't think so with a SX only rider and has turned the page.

IT'S NOCAL, NOT NORCAL. SOUCAL idiots. Water stealin bitches.

Core or not, I think its a bad idea NOT to have the fastest rider in the world, not wearing your gear. If Fox was as core as think they are, I wouldn't be able to buy their stuff at the mall. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Fox being in the malls. James gets more camera time, in more magazines than any other rider, why wouldn't you not want him in your gear?

I would like to believe that the primary reason behind Fox's decision is the Supercross only deal, but unfortunately, I suspect that the truth lies more in the lack of return on their investment - I'm sure the Stewart camp was chasing major dollars and that at the end of the day, given the poor television and mainstream media coverage, Fox couldn't justify the dollars. That said, while I can't blame James for trying to maximize his earning potential, I'm disappointed in the lack of loyalty.

Talk about a brilliant marketing strategy. Who ever is running the marking department is really earning their money.

I hope you realize that such powerful words could bankrupt a company like Answer.

Do you want to live with that on your conscience? lol

Its all about the $$$$$$$.. Same as Kawasaki. They couldn't afford him either.

I have been working with Fox for years and they are an incredible company. One of their top guys was so excited that he could stay at LL's all week and see the entire week of racing and "support his riders"....and damn, was all over the place - all week.

in away im disappointed in James becuz when i thought of him it was Kawasaki and FOX my 2 fav MX brands... BUT at the same time i dont blame him for going after the BIG $$$$ i mean with the way this sport is it would be awesome to make your millions and retire BEFORE you get too broken up to do so and to enjoy retirement at a young age.......

I don't care if it's only half of the truth, and the other half is the money- good for FOX.
Good for the sport!

James and Reed, no matter what gear company they ride for, it isn't good to have them not be at the nats. James and Reed, are bigger than the gear companies. They can each write their own ticket. If one company doesn't want either of them because they don't race outdoors. There are 5 companies that still will take them at half a season. There was a time when everyone wanted to ride for Fox, and Honda. Those times have changed. Yeah, I'm sure guys would love to have either of them as sponsors. Thing is Fox and Honda are nowhere near what they used to be.

How many people here have done a full season of outdoors? None, how about a SX? none! Now how about both, none!! A lot of you are pretty fast on your keyboards, train for one and see how much it takes out of you!!

Work smarter not harder, we should be complimenting these guy for seeing this. No matter if James or Reed or whom ever decides to not race outdoors, there is still going to be racing!!

Do you think that James moving has anything with "Monster Energy" and "Red Bull"?

We all know Red Bull bought him a lovely gift and then Monster got signed an deal with Kawasaki?

Is the money "Red Bull" will pay him worth more than his Kawasaki contract...

Haha good for Stewart...he's the most talented motocross racer in history, and I can't believe Fox is using the whole "we fired him 'cus he wants sx only" excuse when he has repeatedly said he would like to race mx in '09. "At least they have the GOAT"...LOL they can keep him. No wonder MC left Fox back in the day...bunch of tools. Stewart just went up a notch in my book... I think Cryin' Littlehomo would fit in prefect at Fox.

I'm with you on this...

Seriously. The outdoors can't continue the way they are.....

I have some ideas that will get the World Mxers here...(including our best)....Incredible TV coverage and they won't mind bypassing the Worlds'. I have already posted some of the ideas in other threads, but there is so much more.
