Awesome man, I'll be following along. I feel your pain on the money thing, I just got my RM250 back together after the piston hooked on the power valve, and it seemed like a ton of money to get the cylinder fixed since I'm 18 and in college. Keep at it though, it will be awesome once it's done!

Absolutely must make a plan and get started on it asap. Once a bike gets taken down that far there is a good chance it will never become whole again.

I have an 04 YZ125 and got it powder coated and it is holding up really really well.

Think I paid 125 for the powder coating and for the time and money it was worth every penny.

Good luck. I'll be following along too. I hope it all works out!

Spend a little coin on a bolt kit. New bolts make old parts look 100 times better.

Newer style front, and black rear fender?

If you're going that route you need to pick up a UFO kit. Although without a steady income, those kits aren't cheap.....$200+ but they do look sick.....

well it wasnt a direct swap out. just had to make two mounts that go from gastank mounts to frame mounts. my gastank sits up a little higher now which i really like. i feel like it gives me more control with my legs

If you're going to race it, then definitely spend the money to get the suspension completely redone. Looking forward to more updates!

Little update. Just got these in the mail. Called sumo brakes. $20 shipped and I read some pretty good reviews on them.

Dang I didnt know you could put a front number plate and fender on an older yz. I have an 01yz250 and the front fender is so outdated looking. With the number plate and fender it goes on smoothly?

Don't forget to swap out that junk front brake assembly for a Honda one. I noticed a huge improvement when I did it.

Just have to drill holes on the fender to mount to the triple clamp. Plate bolts in at the top and zip ties at the bottom.

Is it a straight swap out to the 04 forks? What years to look for honda wise? Thanks for the tip!

Yeah thats it.

Has really no signs of wear at all. I don't thrash my bikes anyway but it has held up really really well.

man...I am running the same clamps.

I am not the tallest guy so being able to move the bars back was super helpful for me.

Great pick up on ebay!

You can run the honda line or get an 05+ yamaha line off of ebay, and grab a brake line clamp from an 05+ yamaha and use that.

Lightspeed makes the updated fork guards that allows the use of the new style routing. I am running the fork guards and they are money. Everything bolts right up and the feel of the front brake is way more plush.
