Yup, i agree with the above statement. Ultimately its KTMs choice at keeping him there....a HUGE pay cheque for Herlings this year to cherry pick the 250 title.

I would like to see Herlings in tthe USA but that wont happen. Herlings technically has a legit shot to go after Everts records and if TC222 breaks Everts records Herlings should snatch it for himself....all the while KTM will be paying him the big bucks.

So the question is...why go struggle against the real fast boys in the USA whilst you have your arse in the butter????

I would venture for the most part is employer is making the majority of the career decisions be during contract negotiations or daily planning. I'm sure the employer wishes that they all had taken the doctors advise.

I am reasonably confident KTM has a global strategy they consider when the employ riders and to even consider that they do not is a bit narrow. The average rider (read buyer) does not track when a rider should move up or not and KTM understands this. Its all about 8 1/2 X 11 glossy pictures of KTM winning championships and saturating the market with these adds.

As far as being in for the money - damn right!! MX is a dangerous sport and can be very short. If his employers business model has him picking low hanging fruit so be it.

Really? Did Tomac "fail to get near" Roczen? Did Villopoto dodge a bullet in France in 2011? Seems to me the other countries dodged an RV bullet, just like de Dyker said in his interview with Geoff.

Shhhh, you can't say something like like. The yanks still think they have the fastest outdoor riders in the world. The impression is that the last two mxon was a fluke of some kind, bad luck, and of course their star racer wasn't there. Of course, the Americans are the only country that still thinks that. All the rest know who won and who lost.

Ask de Dyker. He seems to have a pretty good grasp on things.

hmm… I don't see the competition any stronger in the US lites this year, than the MX2 WC. And i makes sense that he is not riding MX1 this year, as he is still only 18 yrs old. He will gain some more confidence this year, and hopefully he can beat Cairoli when he moves up to the big boys. Would be a dream scenario for him..
For the record, I'm for him moving up to the 450s... I don't think Herlings should goto the US because he can't ride supercross, he'll break himself.

But given your inflammatory comment about the US lites not being more comp (Which it is way way way deeper than GPs) and your handle I won't bother arguing....

He can cherrypick another title but there will be no running away in 2015, Cairoli is waiting– and for my money he'll win.

I honestly don't get this theory about how shallow this MX2 class supposedly is... but then again, I actually know who all the riders are Whistling

the only reason people think it is shallow is because Herlings is that good, (which he is) and they never hear any other names winning..... Ferris proved that the guys behind Herlings are top quality riders and quite frankly its embarrassing to see how often they are dismissed, simply because they can't beat Herlings

Great ride,Barcia's 3rd the year before was great too, didn't expect Baggett to get lapped twice at Lommel though,or Cairoli and Herlings to nearly do the same to Dungey, maybe RV took note of that regarding 2013?
In 2011 the top 3 in MX1 either weren't there or hardly turned a wheel, quite a suprise that a couple of 250 guys stepped up to put it to RVWhistling

Hey I'm just kidding with you Mr Pilot, don't take it seriously,in all honesty in 2011,2012 and 2013 we've been robbed of all the top guys in there racing together one way or another, hopefully everyone will be there this year Smile

I think its fair to say had Herlings raced Stateside last year theres no way he would have won as many races.

I wonder how good another year in that class even is for Herlings development wise. You'd think Roczen is learning and progressing a lot more in the position he's at now...

x4...lot easier to go fast when your comfortable and know you have no comp. Put some fast guys on his heels for a whole series and we will see. Happens all the time...some fast guy from Europe is supposed to be the next best but history shows things are quite different when you come over to the US and face the best weekend after weekend. No knock on the GP guys...but we all really know where the most competitive series is and Herlings aint racing it.

Im a proud American MX fan. I love it when these dudes that are supposed to be the next great hope to win an AMA championship come over here and get beat like Roczen did by Tomac this year...its satisfying to watch.

That's so dumb to say why would he come to the U.S.. Because it's were the top MX series is and he has won everything in the GPs. He has all the right to not come and be happy with what he's won but a majority of racers would take the opportunity to challenge for the ultimate championship and be noted for winning at the highest level. Again, he can do whatever he likes and he's a badass on the bike but I think most racers that would dominate like him in the GPs would love to take it to the top level where ever it may be. It's kinda like having the opportunity to race the A class but choosing to keep winning the B class championships forever because I don't want to leave my comfort one.
No disrespect to AC, just saying most would take the opportunity to at least try. If he's happy then that's all that matters but to question "why would he come to the US?" is retarded.
jamma10 wrote:
Exactly the same could be said for all the mollycoddled American riders who stay in their comfort zone.

Which Motocross series is best is totally subjective.
I agree. Some big names in USA, but are they faster than the GP guys? I think it's pretty similar, but saying that American fans and media think you are taking the piss out of them and putting down the AMA series, which is pretty hypocritical of them.

GP riders AMA riders are all fast and there is nothing in it.

Pretty much every "fast guy from Europe" who has gone over HAS won a championship of some kind, and if they haven't won a championship then they've narrowly missed out on one - Tortelli.

Send us Roczen and Musquin back to europe and we have top competition on real motocross tracks! And if Villopoto, your superman, will have no competition anymore in the US,send him also to europe.
Sorry,it's a stupide post, but i want to put myself on the same level with you.Evil

Pretty sure Cairoli came over with the U.S gp (but I am sure you already knew that as you are obviously an expert) I think Alessi was the only TOP TIER rider at the time with the balls to step in, any hardcore GP fan could call the Americans out based on this....I WONT.

When was the last time any U.S rider made a visit to the gp tracks? They dont, you wanna know why? Because they are not internet warriors with a point to prove, they dont sit at home calling the gp riders pussies or slow or of a lesser value talent wise. They are focused on what they want to achieve at home.

It's a bit early in the year for this sort of talk but Zach came over and went back a much better rider, that's all I'm saying.

davistld - you are in the middle of a bad quote unfortunately, it's not aimed at you.
I totally agree with you. Can't see why we Always end up in "my daddy is stronger than yours"

There are a lot of great dads out there, with great jobs. Let's just leave it there.

Well, he won a 250 SX Champsionship Wink and no shame in being pipped to the title by Tomac no matter where you're from.

I agree though, something to be said about seeking out the toughest competition. Think Decoster is on record saying something similar about himself...

I don't think some people quite understand how tough it is to do what Roczen's done,to leave home, leave your family, leave a series you've grown up around most of your racing life and people you're familiar working with etc etc and take on the "other" series where automactically he's out of his comfort zone and all the "locals" are right at home with all the aforementioned all going for them

Roczen was superb in France for example(and always good when he's returned to Europe) when up against the best of the best the AMA in,RV and RD,suppose he'd stayed in Europe and any of the top AMA guys come and took him and Herlings on in the GP's,they'd have probably fared the same as Kenny did in the US or worse

It reminds me of when James was dominating on his half bike and people wanted him to move up before Ricky was on the downside. I have a motocross action with Ryno basically saying that James will wax Ricky and needs to move up so beating him still means something rather than waiting for him to get old. We all know how that worked out. People are writing Tony off too quickly as well in my opinion. But yeah, as a fan I'd like to see the two best GP racers face each other. Just for my own selfish reasons.
