Don't think there was an official explanation... I said above somewhere tho that the Over Under bridge is apparently in a bad state of repair according to PulpMX...... maybe it's not ready?
I found the thread you are talking about.. I'm glad they are using A1 instead of the original A2 track that was planned.

That's because they don't have all the whiny two stroke bitches!

Love them bikes. My first street bike was a RD 400.

So glad they brought back the retro race!

Well, Pierre is certainly enjoying caressing something that he hasn't seen in a long time.

They need to burn all the blue stuff and stick with that from this point forward. Cool

True that.

As to all of GuyB's "handicapping" comments: no shit sherlock. You're talking about bikes that are 7+ years off on R&D alone, not to mention a 200cc difference in displacement. I don't know how guys get off on stating that old bikes aren't as good as new ones just because the old ones have 2-stroke motors in em. Especially in a thread like this that is all about nostalgia.

Dang'it. They just put on facebook 22 past legends will be at the race. I wish I knew this was going to be a retro, I would have flown down to the race.

Here is a photo they posted on Supercross facebook site.

We're bring all the former 22 Monster Energy Supercross champs in ONE PLACE this Saturday! Here are Donnie Hansen, Jimmy Ellis and Pierre Karsmakers getting ready for the 40th Anniversary Celebration Race!

Wonder if they will be able to do a victory lap for ole times sake?

as cool as the idea is I don't know why it wouldn't be EXACTLY the same.. did the painter do it by memory? seems strange to go to the effort of the replica to just end up kinda half assing it

All that said I love the sentiment and still think it's cool

That looks half assed to you? Have you painted a helmet before? I wonder if he had to run it by Troy Lee before he did it since he is copying one of his designs.
