it almost has an "entertainment" feel to it as opposed to a "motosports racing" type deal

I say they break it up

So then you have to ask yourself, which part will they keep?

Motorsports are not run in football stadiums. SX is stricly entertainment and should continue to be geared towards the monster truck type audience. Fill those stands with rednecks and pay the riders huge for the act they provide. The sx title lost its true motocross reverance years ago. The sx only thing only reinforces the fact. The sx title means jack shit in the true world of motocross if you are core.

20 rider gates and 15 minute main events are not moto. Sorry.

If that is were the riders heart is at to go sx only god bless them. Just so they know that there is another price to pay for doing so.

She'll get po'd that her bike broke, ala Twitch and start ripping off all her gear as the highlight of the extravaganza.

I'd love to see SX die, hopefully they run it into the ground.

It can't be much worse than what DMG is doing to roadracing. They are essentially driving roadracing out of the US.

With that said, it was only a few years ago that people were complaing about the SX and MX qualifying system. Now everyone is hating on the timed session. Its perfect if you ask me the top 40 fastest guys get in the show.

The SX heat race system provides some good racing. Somtimes better than the main events. Sure the show could be longer, but how long is a set when going to a concert? When compared with other forms of entertainment, I think its on par with the amount of time for the show.

Say you add 20 more laps to make it a 40 lap main, the top guys are going to just be farther out in front. Even adding other classes would be tough unless its a "vet" class. The Rookies and the women racers (no offense) might find supercross to be a bit too dangerous. This is only my opinion, of course.

"Behold An Empire Built On Big Funny Shoes" That's the first line of the Feld Entertainment "History", I shit you not..

Hopefully they'll sell SX right away. BUT Disney's involved, and Disney got a taste for SX with the X-Games, so this might just be working out in ESPN's favor...

Hell, I'd like to see more MX tracks laid out like MX tracks, not groomed outdoor SX tracks. I miss the days of the spoke-busting natural terrain MX track.

Keep SX, but keep that style of track in SX-only.

They need to make the SX tracks more like an outdoor track. Run the track up into the stands like they used to up in the LA Colosseum or Pontiac.

I don't think that's the crowd they're targeting. Seems like they're after more of the FMX crowd. I say leave SX like SX, and have MX revert back to riding on whatever the track turns out like on its own.

BoobyM asked what do people think about the DEAL, and everyone went on an anti-SX tirade.

Focus people, focus!

So far, it looks like just another name change on the door.

SX may not be "real moto" but its wiping its ass with the outdoors right now and that won't change.

There isn't much to think of until the terms of the deal are officially announced. All we would be doing is speculating about their plans which in my opinion is a waste of time.

The way I understand the deal, technically, DMG already owns SX
LN owned a lease, and that'd be what they sold
When the contract expires, DMG can re-lease it or operate it themselves

Only reason DMG didn't take immediate control was because they had to honor the contract LN had with AMA Pro, which expires in like 2012

The only product actually "sold" in this deal is Monster Truck and IHRA Drag Racing
SX is not technically owned by LN

x 1000

Thats why we stopped going to SX events last year. They have to make the main events at least 30 minutes long in both classes.

yeah i didnt really think about it in that manner. definetly the next few years will be interesting. probably time for the riders to think about a real riders union by hookin up with Palin as a supporter and ramming it through the same system baseball has Smile

I only attend SX events because it has to do with the sport I love and that sport has motorcycles in it jus like MX. (and 500guy gets me sweet deals) I just wish they would make the main events longer and also make SX and MX all one title. That way there wouldn't be any of those bullshit SX only contracts.

SX was great to attend last year and i suspect it will still be pretty good still, if the racing kicks ass it will kick ass.
