It was wednesday practice out at Albany MX, and they always split up the practices between fast and slow bikes. Me and my best buddy Sam were kind of in between, but there was quite a few fast guys at the track that day so we just stuck to the slow bikes. So we're in the tower watching the fast practice and Tiger tips over in a slow kind of loose corner. As he's down picking up his bike, our good friend, who was a pretty good B rider, roosts Tiger RIGHT IN THE FACE! We were like WTF was he thinking?! This kid was like 16 at the time. So Tiger gets up and he's on a fucking mission to catch up to our friend. Next lap he comes around and his dad is out there waving him off the track because he didn't want to see his kid get what was coming to him! He pulls off the track and his dad is in his ear, even gave him a little slap to the back of the helmet. Me and my friend were laughing so hard at our idiot buddy. You don't just go around roosting fast pros in the face!
I apologize if this story seems off-putting, it's just a very vivid memory I have involving a guy I would watch spin laps or even occasionally ride with. I never knew Tiger, but I'll never forget that and how fast he was going to catch our stupid friend.

Way back in the mid to later 90's I was racing the 250 INT class and I used to watch tiger out there on his RM 85 with the big ol' number #1 on his bike. One day at Albany SX during a race , he came over and introduced himself and I'll tell you what.....he had the voice of a gerbil! His balls hadn't dropped yet and he was like that until he was about 16! When he finally moved up to the big bikes I knew the kid was going to be a handful to beat! he was pretty damn fast on that 85cc bike ( Actually it may of been an 80cc back then? ). I think he may of skipped the juniors all together and went strait into the INT class.
I spoke to him quite a few times before he made the move up to the bigger bikes and I KNEW damn well once he did....it was just going to knock me down another spot! Well he did move up......and he DID knock me back down another spot! I was struggling in top 5 -10th at some of these races and Tiger.....well he adapted quick and was right towards the front.
I raced him for a couple years in the INT class before he finally went pro. Always stayed on friendly terms with him ( because he was an aggressive rider you didn't want to piss off! ).
Years later when I ran the HindsightMX indoor arenacross track ( first 4yrs it was open ).....Tiger basically lived there at times and I really got to know the guy. I can remember a good half dozen times where I closed the track down at 9:00pm and kicked everyone out.....but I stayed behind until 12:00 -1:00am in the morning to keep it open so I could drop the gate for him and practice his starts. ( Dude was a holeshot master for sure! ). A couple of times he dragged his little bro "Race" and his girlfriend to the track with him and they would sit inside the game room until Tiger was done practicing. I'd stay out there with him and drop the gates ( Probably a 100 damn times! ) until he felt he had it down and had enough.
At one time I felt pretty close to the guy and I always ( always! ) really liked him. From the kid I met when he was racing 80's , to the new kid on the block that was kicking my ass in the INT's.....to the full on pro rider that traveled the world making a name for himself. Always stayed humbled...........and this is why i will really miss that guy.
Bottom line was the guy lived , breathed and ate this sport and made a name for himself doing most of it on his own dime. I feel proud to of known the guy and I know that he did the very best he could do in this sport. The amount he practiced at my track and the determination he had always left me a little bewildered.
Yep....I was proud to know him and I think anyone else that did.....can share the same amount of feelings I had for the guy.
Class act. and will be missed by not only people here in the NW.....but all over the world.

My Condolences brother, I feel your pain from your words
It's tough loosing a Friend even tougher when they are young.
I would like to help your pain by saying He is in good hands with The Lord but who knows?, who knows really? I Have heard that many times loosing friends and family. I would like to think he is in better hands but he lived life to it's fullest like you stated so does that mean where he is at they have fast bikes with kick ass suspension and jumps that are smooth with kickass track prep?
Sorry man, lost a good buddy I used to ride/race with 28 years ago and still coming to terms with it and everytime I see this sort of thing it reminds me of him.
Plant a tree in his memory it helps to watch it grow
