I was up at the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki track yesterday, and Stefan Everts (who was riding the main track at Glen Helen) stopped by. I hadn't seen him in Fox gear before, and snagged this shot.

Well, it turned into quite the debate on Instagram (first, on who the ID was, and second, on whether Stefan was "entitled" to run it).

MC checked in on Instagram with, "That is one brave soul.. Even if it is Everts, he probably doesn't feel to comfortable with that butt patch. I am with @jasoncloke and @trekremedy there can only be one king."

What's your take?

Hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling this is going to turn into a GP vs AMA shit thread very shortly.

Theoretically you have to be a part of a monarchy to become a king, which Stefan is and MC not.

Seriously though, it's weird to see Stefan in anything other than Acerbis. Even the KTM is hard to get used too. But always good to see him on a bike.

Didn't he get waxed by Windham at Budds when he came over here for a GP?

He needs to leave that set of gear back in The Old Country.

There's one King in SoCal, and it ain't him.

Yeah that was in, what, 1999? And how many world titles does he have since then? Who really cares?

If you get into a twitter war about butt patches you might have some latent homosexuality issues.............

It's a nickname, but it's Jeremy's nickname. Either he didn't think a thing about it or he did it on purpose. Either way, what does it matter that two use-to-bees might be in a squabble over a butt patch. I wonder if Jeremy's quote about "brave soul" had more to do with how others have been treated when encroaching upon the King's name. Seems a couple of guys have been roasted over SX opening ceremonies where they might have been presented as a king.

Anyway, hope he had a good time riding in the states.

I'd go with that.

Like I mentioned elsewhere, sometimes American fans are a bit embarassing. I've seen people line up to get DeCoster's autograph without realizing that he was standing next to Stefan.

I didn't think Everts had a nickname. That was Jeremy's thing, right?

Hah, that's golden. Although I sat next to Coppins at Dulles ones and it took me several articles in my Racer X mag about MXdN before I realised it.

I was at Matterly when Everts rode around Bubba standing on the Pegs. then walked about the pits shaking hands with any and everyone that could get close.

I will agree Mc is King of SX , But Everts was every bit the King to me after that day.

Hater.

You should know that Mericans are the most bestest ever.

I just amazed that people are actually debating this. But then again it's the Internet……...

MC is 100% right...super weird. This is like having some Euro basketball player few Americans have ever heard of come to a Lakers practice and claim to be better than Kobe. WTF Cheap shot by Fox, but I guess I would be butt-hurt too if MC left my company in his prime.
