When you watch vids like that it makes you realise just that little bit more just what they go through/have gone through to get where they are, it's so much more "threatening" than a polished go pro from the SX race track under the lights, the way he rides around slowly and then just hits massive triples is freakin awesome and a real head straightener, I know it's not just him, they are all the same and they all deserve the same high level of respect for being bad as fuck in a motorbike.

Bad...fuckin...ass.

Amazing how zook11 was the dick in question, and mxb2 had to run to save him from a comment by visser62, and then sende had to jump on the wagon...but zook11 has disappeared from the battlefield long ago.

I'll never, ever forget the first time I saw the 259 ride. I'd heard of him of course, but before the start of the 2002 sx season we were all out at Saddleback 2 (gone 10 years now!) on a Saturday afternoon, and they had this long front table top that most were clearing.

One lap I'm feeling all good about my riding when I hear a screaming 125 flying OVER my head, not only was he doing the 100+ foot table, 16 year old JS was actually using a small single another 50 or so feet down the track as his landing ramp. You just can't describe it unless you saw it .

James riding made a lot of up and coming guys just want to up and quit, that day cuz there was no way they could get on the same lap with this guy.

A few weeks after that I saw the video from Dade city that Marcad posted of Stewart on that 125 and right there I just knew I had never seen any human with that kind of skill on a motorcycle before and I probably never will again in my lifetime, and I had grown up watching Hannah, DeCoster, Glover etc.

I'm not an ass kisser, but it still blows me away 12 years after I first saw what the guy can do on a bike. I hope he wins this upcoming SX championship and then says "Goodnight Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm done"

Now that would be too cool Brent....

Better would be if he won it and stayed though :-)

Aldon makes $300k cool.

James sounds serious. I'm glad he's still racing. Wouldn't it be cool if he won the championship? heck ya!

Go James!!!!

Dude I remember that! I had never seen anything like that before ,absolutely amazing! I'm pretty sure I became a 259 fan for life that day. Absolutely bad ass. Saddleback was cool while it lasted too.

glad to see he appears in shape and is somewhat confident in being healed up/healthy and having fun. A js7 that is having fun is a dangerous one to the field.

That said, i wouldn't bank it all on being "in shape" because a guy dropped body fat points. He looks more thin but that doesn't mean he's got the gas tank to run with villopoto wire to wire all season long. know what i'm saying?

js7 fan though, i hope to see some flashes of brilliance this season and him being one of the few that won't just submit when rv2 passes him and settle for second (dunge)

The very first thing I noticed. Let's hope 2014 is a repeat of 2006 where everyone stays relatively healthy.

Always the one guy who wants to play the "facts are facts" it's only my opinion, but get mad when people tell them what they think about the opinion.

James will have a good year, but regardless of how well he does someone will shit on him. It's the wonderful way of vital.

after watching his bike in vegas, that thing looks good. that track was a pos and for him to do what he was doing on that bike showed its was working. he's been the fastest for years personally I'm tired of rv, lets hope js7 rides like he did in vegas....all year!!

James looks fit. Maybe hes got the endurance issues solved?

I saaaaaaayyyyyyyy.....6 wins and the championship for senior Stewart this year.
Where do people get the idea that fitness was his problem. I guess it is the assumption that he IS the fastest guy...so if he finishes the race and does not win...it must be fitness. Just NOT TRUE. James, on may types of tracks, is NOT the fastest. Period. RV was clearly faster than him in many of the turns...and especially the flat turns at MEC. JS was faster than RV at Atlanta last year due to the nature of the track.

James also has superior race craft. If you watch MEC...you will see that RV was clearly faster over the course of a lap (watch how easily he closed up gaps), and James just schooled him with little moves on passes, checking up at the right time to give himself a gap on RV. When RV passed James...James stayed right on RV....setting up a repass. When James passed RV...he checked him up...causing RV to lose a lot of time...dropping way back. Yet RV was able to close up pretty rapidly on James. If RV had checked up James when he passed him...causing James to drop back they way RV did...RV likely would have won the race. JS is among the smartest riders ever in this respect. HE thinks way way ahead...and is VERY VERY under rated in this area.

Here are the lap times from Atlanta where James won last year. Both riders ran their block of fastest times on laps 4-10, then started to slow up as track conditions changed. At the end..there was no noticeable difference in lap time fall off for James vs RV. It is NOT fitness.

RV

53.967

James:

54.23
53.948
54.105
54.294
54.185
54.355

If you look at the times in races JS lost...and lost badly...it was not fitness...it was speed. He was slower from the drop of the gate. Now...much of that was due to injuries last year in SX....but that is not the same as saying his problem was due to being 'out of shape'. Here is news for you...James can be the most fit guy on the planet...and on certain tracks..RV will still beat him. And on certain tracks...JS is going to have RVs number. JS7's issue, at least in SX...is NOT fitness. It is speed. Yes...he is the BEST at the challenging rythm sections. He is among the best in the whoops...but he is NOT the best in the turns...and especially not in the flat turns....where RV just hauls ass. This is one reason RV has a leg up on James in outdoor MX.

HE is one of the fastest guys on the planet...but he is NOT, and never will be again THE fastest rider on the planet. It all depends on the night, how things are working, the track layout, etc. FYI...I am a bigger JS fan than RV fan...just being realistic here.

Which facts? Saying 'he sounded ready in 10,11,12,13' does not make it a fact. That is an opinion. So there is no truth in zooks statement...just opinion. The truth is that he did not do well those years...but the implication that James was of the same mindset those years...and still did poorly...so he will again this year...is nonsense. We all know James is in a much different place now than those years.

From what I see of James now, he seems to have a much different mindset than he did in the past. James had to learn to lose and overcome injuries to teach himself what it will take to win again...then to go out and put in that work. I think he has done that. We will see on the results...

Geezus dude, you do remember James had a torn ACL last year. James didn't have a fitness problem, he has a injury problem! People have short memories!

And he did have the fastest lap of the night at the MEC. Doh!

Really looking forward to a new/improved JS7 racing his best along side an amazingly stacked 450 class this year, and just hoping everybody can stay healthy. Ought to be the best year for racing in quite a few! I cannot freaking wait!!

Yeah but, he "dumped" Aldon because he didn't want to do "those things"... I read that here so it must be true!

lol . its all a level playing field for the elite. lets just say ,McGrath ,during his dominate years was our last true clean champion.
just enjoy the show.fast recoveries from injuries, sustained endurance to those up front at those speeds=more excited fanbase.

cheer for your elite rider, but give more cheer to the less financial racer out there showing some of the elite riders the fast way around the track.and don't be pissed because they don't recover faster or you think he is frail with injuries.
