I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I think there could be a chance of the amateur nationals being there the first week of August and a week to reset followed by the pro national the 16th. Maybe not this year, but next.

I've never been to this facility, but I did go back to Loretta's to watch in 2012 and that place is completely bursting at the seems. I'm talking to the point where they were running out of area to even park one more vehicle at times.

No way. You have to have a track that works for all classes. There's still room to park way up by Loretta's homestead. Looking at the pics that track is not for the 50's...especially the pdubs.
The 50's can run a modified version of that track.

I know you can park on down the road up by the river, but it isn't realistic to expect people to park that far away and walk on the road back to the track. It isn't the end of the world, but the bottom line is that there isn't much area to logically park spectators.

The race appears to only be getting bigger and I think people like Davey Coombs are good making long term plans when they see issues on the horizon.

And I think the date of the assumed national is no coincidence. You can't argue that this track looks like it would be a better track than the present track in Tennessee for the amateur national.

I say the three races are amateur national, pro national, and quad national. ........and I could just need more sleep.

They don't do a modified track for the 50's at the amateur national level. In 2010 they did park up there. I'm sure some weren't happy but that's the way it had to be!
Loretta's has always started the last weekend of July or the first weekend of August. Been going since 2000 and has never changed from those weeks.

There's always more going on than is visible. Smile
Don't know. What I do know is myself and others complained about things to the extent I was kind of embarrassed. We looked like the biggest whiners in the world. But ...GH back...and WOW what another awesome addition. Don't know if all our whining contributed to any these things but I will definatly shut up for a bit Smile

JB 19, 35smom is right here -- there are no plans to move Loretta Lynn's AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship anywhere. It's been a great success where it's at for 32 years now and the ranch is a very unique setting for one-week-only event with a competitive and safe track for everyone, plus a lot to do when you're not racing. We've capped the entires at 42 riders a class and have no room to add anymore classes (or let anyone race more than two classes) that week and not compromise the three long motos everyone gets.

Ironically, we did talk a lot about putting a pro national there at the ranch but it's not what the place (or the track) was meant for and so we went looking elsewhere.

And thanks for the kind words on this new track, my dad originally found the place back in the mid-nineties and also thought it would make a great spot for a motocross race as well as the GNCC and now it's finally happening.

Loretta's is the perfect place for the Am. national. That's good news.

As far as the new track, looks like the most interesting potential national site as long as I can remember. I love hills!

Good job.

Thanks DC for getting that rumor cleared up. I have been hearing that one for almost a year. I can't wait to hear the plans for the new track. And yes it is a great place for a great track. We have been very interested in the happenings there because we operate a motocross facility less than an hour away. Things are looking up here in Indiana.

Bluelion, I imagine this new facility will help racing there locally considerably. It will not be a regular track, in the sense it runs once a month or anything, just a few races each year, including the GNCC. The Indianapolis SX at Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the most popular SX races of all so it's obvious there is a lot interest and people in that region. When you make it down there next spring look me up, I will be running around somewhere!

Well between Detroit getting the SX back, Red Bud, Indy SX, and now this national I am glad to see the response to the region and amount of moto heads that race and enjoy the sport in the region.

DC are there any plans to run qualifiers or a regional here?

Thanks DC. Yes that is what we are hoping for, a reenergizing of motocross racing in this area. We just completed our 13th season. The big races draw great crowds but our regular races have been less than desireable turnout. So we hope that this will bring a renewed interest in Motocross racing in this area..I will dfinitely look you up...

Like DC said, LL's is not moving.

The races I see being there in 2014 are the Pro National. The North Central Regional Amateur Qualifier for LL's and maybe some kind of Vet National.

Also it is in the backyard / home state of Lucas Oil Products..!

DC you or Big John need some help race weekend, give me a shout!

Cheers!

Yes on the infield spectating question. The track sits in a bowl, much like Steel City. This is a shot of a fraction of the track from the overhead drone-copter at the GNCC on Sunday....

Looks great Davey. Loads of room for parking as well. You will have to talk to Jonathon Beasley about getting some of that blue/green dye for the lake!, ala Budds Creek.Wink

Maybe this will silence the naegative Nellies who think that the nationals have gone flat. Maybe a little news on amateur/vet racing that weekend ??

GuyB, I am familiar with the area and there is a lot of farming nearby. Where there is farming there are crop dusters.....so perhaps you can order up some painted trees for a colorful backdrop to your photos. This would be more cost effective then hand painting each leaf. The added bonus will be the press coverage when the national tree hugging groups stage a protest.

JB19....you have never been afraid to stick your neck out...........heres hoping you are on to something.

As someone who lives just north of Indy, all I can say is that it's about time! I can't help but feel like the Midwest is far too often overlooked when it comes to something like this. That land looks prime... no need for a bunch of overdone man-made junk like we've been seeing. With any luck, it'll replace Utah's Miller Motorsports Park on the national series.

This is almost too good to be true......two pro nationals and the Indy Supercross within a 2 hour drive for me and my boys to go have fun at! My wife is not going to be happy with you DC!!

That's what I was thinking too. I almost feel guilty. Some of these poor dudes don't have one pro race within 12 hours of them.

DC, how are they keeping the erosion under control that property? The topography is all over the place and almost no grass to hold soil in place. I can only imagine what it looks like if a random storm dumped 5-6" in a few hours.

Erosion in the midwest is alot less worriesome then it is in the south where the topsoil isnt every deep. I know here in Alabama erosion is bad and then all the rocks and hard as a rock hard pan is exposed. The dirt in the midwest for the most part absorbs water better too so you dont get the bad washouts like down here. Looks yummy!
