There could be a big battle inside the KTM team next year. We look at the potential rivalry here:

That was the biggest Roczen puff piece/anti Dungey article I've ever read.

Roczen more naturally talented than Dungey? More confident? DeCoster getting frustrated with Dungey? Good grief man!

There is no way in the world I'd consider roczen-in his first year on a 450, in supercross-as on par with Dungey. I think roczen will have flashes of brilliance but will struggle with consistency (like virtually all 450 sx rookies do-with the exception of McGrath, Dungey and Reed).

Dungey doesn't have to worry about Roczen taking the top spot at KTM...at least this year.

I only made it half way through...who wrote that...its almost funny. We will see in it play out and I don't think its gonns go down like that. But...that's why we race. I say Roczen will be a top 5 guy. Dungey will be like always...top 3...maybe a win if he gets lucky. Lots of fast guys in that class.

I do think Ken is more talented than Dungey, but I expect rookie struggles in a rookie season. Eventually, I do think he will overtake Dungey as the top KTM guy but that's just my opinion. There are too many variables...

Dungey's a funny character. He can have a bad practice and then race time, he has extra speed. I don't see Roczen finishing many races ahead of Dungey. The only x factor is Aldon. . . We'll see if he can do with Roczen what he did with RV and JS7. . .

Interesting article, but i don't think roczen could ride on dungey's level in 2014.

I am much more excited about just how many riders can realistically be on the podium each week, its a pretty long list in 2014. From Villopoto, Stewart, Dungey, Barcia, Canard, Roczen, Tomac the list goes on....

Lets hope and pray everyone stays healthy for the next 73 days!! Cool

Honda has this dynamic with Barcia and Canard.
While they are not BFF's (mostly because of their differing personalities), they don't want to kill each other on the track.

i dont think thats too far wide of the mark at all... Roczen was winning GP's at an age at which we'd never even heard of Dungey , he wasnt a top of the pile amateur, but Roger D saw something in him and went with it... he's been there to pick up the peices and take championships when others spilled them , and i think that Decoster's public comments show that he thinks Dungey needs to step it up.

I dont think Roczen is going to make him look silly , Dungey has speed , he just doesnt have RV/Stewie on a good day speed. But there will be pressure from within the team for him for the first time in a long time(if at all).

That said , like OC said, im genuinely excited to see how many podium contenders we have for next season.

And dont forget the man who took us all by surprise last year Davi Millsaps..

Ill agree w that. I think Dungey is way more serious and works much harder. But Kenny is a natural. Working w Aldon now I quess he sees he needs to pick it up in that department. My only concern w Kenny is I believe he struggles w constant pressure. He has caved in under pressure quite a few times. Guys like RV don't and never have. In a couple years I believe he will be right there w Dungey...but not a champion ever in the 450's.

that said, Dungey is Dungey. he's going to be there at the end no matter what

How you want to know if villopoto has no problems riding under pressure?I think last WE at the MEC,battling it out with stewie and crashing could be a sign!?

I don't see Rockzen bringing the same consistency as Dungey in 2014.

i agree, but consistency isnt enough is it... RV need to be pressured every race , and made to work .. if he gets the start he runs and hides....

I think come the end of the SX season , Kroc wont have outpointed Dungey , but i think he will have been at the sharp end enough to have made some impact.

This year is going to be badass ass!! Kroc vs Dunge is just one of the epic battles that will size up this year. Kroc has the speed for sure & now with AB work with him.... But then you have Dungey and I would hate to race him week in and week out. He just does not quite and will be there at the end.

I think Dungey does mostly have that "RV/Stewie on a good day speed" what I think is the major difference is the level of aggression when compared to RV/JS.

Haven't heard much about Millsaps in recent weeks. Is he staying on the KTM?

That article is pure dumb. How many championships does Dungey have? How many times has KR faded down a championship stretch?
He has the potential and could definitely snag a win, but I don't see him beating Dungey over the course of a championship yet.

Not talking about beating RV, subject and my reply was about K-Roc vs RD5. RD is the top factory KTM rider and i don;t see that changing in 2014. At winning races and championships, RV is the guy to beat. But competition is tough and he never got it handed to him, he had to work and fight to get his paycheck.

I don't really care who wins, i just want races that are worth watching. (and a lack of injuries)

I think Kenny's world championship and undeafeated at the MXON trumps Dungey's 250 stuff, and he hasnt won a championship against RV when RV wasnt injured.

... but i dont disgree with your 'yet' .... Dungey is 5 years older, and that is something that we need to remember .

Will be cool to see how it plays out. Wonder how Kenny feels about riding a bike that was build for Dungey. Will it inspire him further, or make him feel frustrated about "misguided attention" or whatever could take place in his head...

I would imagine so. I don't think he likes it though and hurt his foot.
All this pre season talk and everyone seems to forget how long he led the points last year. If they get the bike dialed and he keeps his fitness like last year there is no reason to believe he wont be towards the front again.
KR will not be consistent first year on the 450 IMO.

Dungey has to stop letting the aggressors push him around...they treat him like a unwanted step child! I think Roczen will push him around also, and tho Roczen might not be faster...once he gets in front of Dungey...#5 will just follow.

Questions for the 2014 Knowers of the Moto-Wisdom:

1. Tomac or Raczen in SX (450s)?

2. How does Deano do on Mitch's 250s in 2014?

3. How does the Honda do, in general, in the 450 class?

4. The Tickles, Weimers and Braytons...do they surprise us and add a little speed and podiums to the mix?

5. Peick: Get on a Team or Bump-Up "His Own Program"...HIS WAY?

6. Any new "Developments" or surprizes in the 250s? New "Colors" or Teams on the Box? (Yamaha? Husky?)

7. Who's gonna be the Top Privateer?

8. Any New Teams or Break-Outs coming?

9. Chad on the New Kawi w/ PC... Any guesses?

10. 2015 Projections?

The for sure thing is that there will be some different quality guys used to winning who will be off the podium from one weekend to the next. Including both Tomac and Roczen, who will be adjusting to their first full 17 round SX series as well.

Ken Roczen will be the top KTM rider at the end of the 2014 SX season. Heck, he might be at the end of the Outdoor season too!

Post a reply to: Roczen v Dungey in 2014...
