I bet James is PISSED about this. He can't just cruise and have easy days like he has been...he's gonna have to be on it. Chad has no nagging injuries, no pressure, and has a lot of confidence in his bike or else he wouldn't show up. Ruh roh for James.

Reed needs to put himself in positions that will only help him gain confidence for the 09' sx season..... getting pwned by Bubba at the last national, is not a good way to do that.... there is no way Reed is going to beat him at Steel City.... if he had rode all the nats, maybe an outside chance.... but just dropping in on the last race is not a good recipe for winning... and more importantly, not a good recipe for increasing his confidence against Bubba...

Reed's off season should consist of focusing on not getting hurt, and learning how to scrub SX jumps as good, or better than Bubba.... if Reed can scrub like Bubba, he might have a shot at the 09' title.... if he doesn't do it, it's gonna be a longgg 09 sx season.....
Check mate. Corners and whoops rule stadiums. Scrubbing jumps is a fraction of what is necessary.

IMHO I think Reed is not out to put any pressure on Bubba , or any of the other contenders at all. I think he's just trying to get a feel for his new ride at outdoor race speeds and conditions. He has nothing to gain at all.

Bubba beats everyone. Simple isn't it. Can't wait to see him at the MXoN.

I was wondering the same thing. Short has consistently been faster than Ferry these last few rounds. Alessi should be going. He was by far the 2nd best guy this year. With Alessi and Short you could at least count on a pretty damn good start!

The only reason I am not a Reed fan is his sx only shit. I will be chearing for him this weekend. It would be cool to see him upset Stewart!

Its a two edged sword. I agree with your thoughts, but what if Reed did come out and win a moto (or the overall). Imagine the psychological advantage that would give him heading into next year.

Its a stretch I admit; but it sure whoud make things interesting in the off-season bench racing!

It will be a huge task for him to beat Bubba, but Reed has a better chance than anyone else who has raced him this season. He probably wouldn't be lining up if he wasn't feelin' good.

It seems fitting that Stewart's last race towards a perfect season will likely be his hardest.

If Reedy's stamina is in check I expect a good showing. But if you think Marc was motivating..................

Unless he crashes or his stamina is not up to par, Reed is going 2-2!!

I'd be surprised if he races the 2nd moto.

Because he rides a Red Bull Honda and not a Monster Kawasaki. Same reason RockStar/Makita Suzuki's Mike Alessi never had a chance.

My prediction - 4th place.

First race on a brand new bike/team. Has not competed in an actual race since Vegas in May. He will be fast but Stewart is untouchable and Short/Ferry are motivated to settle second in the point standings.

Comparing Reed to MDR? Why? That is not Reeds MO! He showed up last year at Buds Creek and podiumed and Steel City is a SX style track. Reed will do both motos. Suzuki needs a bike in both motos.

Alessi was definately in until his injury. Chad will bring it, but don't know if he's quite physically ready for both motos. The first should be hot. A 2-5. But I can't wait to see the fight in Shorty for that 2nd place box.

Chad Reed to Race Steel City
by Steve Matthes

We just got word from sources at Suzuki that Chad Reed is planning on racing a factory RMZ-450 this weekend at the final stop of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship tour, at Steel City. Reed, of course, is already signed with Suzuki and had mentioned the possiblity of doing the last round of the nationals. That now appears to be the case.
He should enjoy second place...(third if you include Villo's times)

haha...this is great...reed who has never proven anything outdoors on a big bike and he is going to try and wreck teh perfect season...

I doubt he has any real visions of running with stewart but over on www.chadreedracing.com they all seem to think he is just as good an outdoor rider as stewie...dumb, dillusional, and I can't wait to see this...

more motivation...

Honestly, I hope my source was wrong, and that we see him this weekend. That'd be cool.

Of course, even cooler would be is if Alessi was there, too. Smile

That's because you have no decent sources , nobody wants to talk to someone who makes things up.
