The swept back bars never bugged me as much as the levers being pointed upward. With your elbows up in the attack position, it just does not seem right to have to angle your wrists upwards to get at the levers. Instant arm pump for me without even having to be on the bike.

I was just going to ask this...

How do pros keep their bows so high and parallel in solid attack position 100% of the time, and run their levers flat like that??!

This is one of the more minor, yet significant reasons why pros of yesterday would get their asses beat by pros of today.

You're forgetting one thing.....HE'S a GINGER!!!!!

My god, he hit his thumb!!!!

Oh, and obviously ginger's are anti-drugs, so everyone here whose favorite rider got whooped by RC, it isn't because of some PED BS. Flat out ,Gingers are superior, as these videos prove.

You just pull the lever in higher up on your fingers, you can still do that with your elbows up.
You don't have to pull the levers with your finger tips. I don't understand how people can run their levers low.

I've done both, high and low levers, but I do find it harder with them high, puts the wrist at a weird angle that's kind of counter intuitive to keeping your bows up in attack position. To each their own I guess.

I used to run my bars pretty far forward. Recently I've been moving them back more and more every so often. I find that I can corner a lot better with the bars farther back.

Huh? Are your fingers 8 inches long to pull that off?

I remember back in 87 it was how far pointed down you could get them for the ultimate attack position.

That's what I was thinkin, it's gotta be some kind of "fad" because Bubba says he's embarrassed by how low he runs his levers (pronounced lee-vers). He has his wrench move em up for photo shoots, then hangs em down low again once the gate is set haha

This is funny, I Cannot for the life of me.. run my levers pointed down... or below level with the bars.

Mine literally have to be slightly above level with my bars... ala a DV12 type position... and I'm only 5'11''... 6ft on a good day lol

All this talk about elbows in attack position. Hasnt Vital gotten the memo about the trend amongst all the young, up and coming riders? Elbows down, tucked in. You see it allot with Webb. Weege wrote a column on it recently that was pretty interesting actually.

agree with you completely. i tried the low lever thing, cant do it, or i should say, it doesnt work for me at all.

i never knew Carmichael ran his levers like that. i too run mine straight out and find them to be the most comfortable position for me. must be why im so fast....

It was in Weege's monthly column in RacerX, Voice Box. August 2013 issue. Vital will love this too. All the things I referenced elbows down, tucked in, also feet way back on the pegs are a by product of keeping your hips unlocked. BOOM! Thank you Mr. Hughes
